This is gold, thank you all for making this possible, these memorys are the stuff that truly matters the most. To relate as real people, to see the past, the struggle of the early days with no money, no clue of when your next meal, or bottle of beer, or if there is another meal, or beer, or place to sleep, was the reality of these guy's. There was no plan "B". It was do or die, against all odds, and they did it! All my respect and love to the boy's. Metallica is the greatest band in the history of metal, in my opinion the best band of all time. Keep creeping Kirk!!!😊

I was front row at the load tour in worcestor mass. At the end the guys went around shaking hands n stuff. James kinda just walked by smiled and waved Lars ran around and smacked everybody's hand but Jason grabbed my hand like we were gonna arm wrestle n we touched fore heads and Kirk shook my hand with a very firm grip n said "thank you for being here" to me. I'll never forget that

I heard Rob Barrett of CANNIBAL CORPSE and SOLSTICE talking on one of the out takes of the Centuries of Torment DVD on youtube about buying a very important guitar to him from HOUSE OF GUITARS in Rochester.
He said it was a Les Paul sitting in the window when he was an "unsigned" young metalhead.
7 years later he went back after getting into CORPSE and having two nickels to rub together, and the same guitar was still there and he was able to buy it.
      I loved that story.
You guys at that store have heavy metal cred and a hand in the history. A legacy to be proud of..
I'm in need of a high gain combo amp.

This was a good watch. The old stories are awesome. I'm 39. So when Black Album came out, I vaguely remember my parents listening to it. Certainly enter sandman. But at 13 or so, kill em all was my Metallica album. So 1997. Load was out, but wasn't my speed at the time, however, Load and reload Now are my favorite periods along with Garage inc.

I'm 41 and I became a Metallica fan between the release of Load and ReLoad, so those albums are very nostalgic to me, but my first Metallica album purchase was the black album and I have Weird Al to thank for that because he put Enter Sandman in one of his polka compilations. I thought that melody was so cool that I had to buy the album.

Dont forget he`s never seen these pictures and he`s just straight in the moment, taking us back there with him. Despite the hugeness of Metallica they`re still so accessible, theres still that connection with the fans and after 35 years (for me) I still feel part of it. AWESOME interview! This is priceless. Man, I missed them by a few months! I left town just before then. I worked at Art Stocks Playpen for a long time and used to go to House of Guitars all the time just to hang out. I know WGMC is a jazz station now, but I honestly have never heard of it. Lived here all my life (mostly). Maybe because I never rolled the dial lower than 90.5. or when WRUR was a thing.

What a great interview! To have Kirk and all you guys share stories and the pictures! More! I was 15 in the summer of 1985 mowing my parents lawn in the Florida sun….And my rides up on his bike holding two records. Slayer Hell Awaits and….Ride the Lighting. Left the yard half mowed cause I lived in a little town and Metal Music was hard to come by. We listened and read all the lyrics and all liner noted over and over that day….Then my buddy said oh Metallica has another record …So we grab the bikes and rode to his house a mile away as fast as 15 year olds could go on bikes….Kill em All was the record waiting for me. I’ll never forget that day! Thank you for such a great video!

You're more than welcome my friend. We're cut from the same cloth Guess back in the day being my buddies did the same thing ride our bikes down to local record store by albums. We all had paper routes or used to watch dishes at restaurants as kids and just bought metal albums. I invite you to check out our website www.metalmayhemroc.com

@@metalmayhemroc1851 Heck yeah man! Metal fans are the same everywhere that I've been. I moved from Houston Texas to this little town Plant City population 15k around 1983. It was like I moved to the moon HAHA! I was used to big city redneck's ..small town red necks are a different animal ...I heard LONG HAIR ALERT whenever I showed up to Baseball practice or riding the bike around town. Everyone was related in some way or knew each other all their lives. I felt like an outsider day 1 till the day I left that town. No record stores carried imports or anything heavier than say Maiden or Priest in that town. If it wasn't for tape trading or the occasional trip 30 minutes to Tampa to go to a real record store it was slim pickings on metal especially new metal. Luckily in a few years the Death Metal era began, and I was in the right spot and time to see all the now legendary Death Metal bands that came out of Tampa Bay area Orlando. CHEERS....Checking out your website also! Great video man! LIKED & SUBBED!

I can only imagine the feeling of hearing "Ride the Lighting" in 1985 when metal was a new thing. Even to this day, after thousands of times hearing "For Whom the Bell Tolls" , "Fight Fire with Fire" and the likes, I almost always end up thinking: "How the hell did a buch of 23-24 year-olds came up with this shit?" Gift from the Gods, for sure.

@@hugo2314 Up to that point Fight Fire with Fire was the fastest song we ever heard. We thought Motorhead was pretty fast at times Metallica was a step and beyond. Music was really different back then. Google what was on the charts as far as music in the summer of 1985 and you'll see what I mean haha!. Me and my little group of friends wasn't into the music on the radio and this new thing called MTV. It was like finding treasure when a friend brought you an album or cassette and said... CHECK THIS SHIT OUT!

@@FLORIDAROOMJAMS Yeah man, would've killed to be a teenager in the 80's. The same thing happened to me in 2003. Nu metal was everywhere. The heaviness of it captured my attention, but never really connected with all the gimmicks that came along with it. And then a good homie of mine showed me "Master of Puppets" (the track)...and it was game over. Die-hard Metallica fan ever since. It's crazy how the same process happens over and over through generations. Powerful stuff.

Must admit, the just seen photos kinda mess with the mental perception we all built in our heads over the years. Of the times and actual places, where it all went down!
Music and imagery are both important in the creation of a mythology. Metallica has a very rich backdrop to the sounds they created
