Respect to Louiche, a Venice punk icon and gifted musician. I remember rehearsing at Streets Of Venice with Excel when all of this was going down (‘87-‘88). That was my first (of many) witnessings of the harsh side of the music industry.
beyond his musical contributions, when i was growing up, it seemed rare to see brown faces playing music like that. it was important for brown kids to have heros that looked like us!💯💯💯
Thank you for making this. When I started listening to ST, Loiuchi was already gone. But there were all these songs credited to this mythical person's name. Back then there was no Internet so it was hard getting any information about it (at least in Europe).
Got to see Louichi when his band Luicidal played my town along with Terminally Ill and The Hajj a few weeks back. Great show and he was just cool with everybody
I just watched a club date ....Rocky with full fro' and beard...suicidal for life "I AM" With "I am" being the KEY words which I believe. God bless you all.
Man, I would talk this guy's ear off. Then the other one. Love the original line up. I was in a band in the late late 90s maybe early 2000s, we got to open for Suicidal Tendencies. That was too much to process then. Still cannot believe it.
What a great interview! You should be so happy with your effort,Miss Nika. I am 62 now and never fell away from Suicidal Tendencies as I always heard positive and God fearing meaning. Just a positive thing I just viewed and I have to admit I just watched Rocky george and Louiches performance "LUICIDAL".....Claark was there Rocky...fuck I'm gettin old too!...What a blessing to be able to get old, I hope YOU Nika get to see beyond me you seem a good soul. God bless you and your loved ones.
He wasn't the only one who wrote the songs. Jon Nelson did. He was the one who wrote "War Inside my Head"... So there's still a lot of he said she said bs.
In the late ‘80s I placed an ad’ in the Recycler looking for a bass player and Louie answered my ad’ (I somehow had a way of attracting Pro’s with my ad’ wording) and Louie showed up in his ‘64 Ford Ranchero with a BC Rich in hand and he “auditioned” for a bunch of snot-nosed mocosos that had absolutely no reason to have him as a bassist. This fucker came in and impressed the F out of me, but I just knew we were punching above our weight class - but the other guys (drummer and other guitarist) were impressed. He asked us if we knew any Rush and he started jamming on the bass solo breakdown to Spirit of Radio and I was floored, because I had never experienced a bass player do anything like that in my teen years as a guitar player. After our “audition” we said our goodbyes, and my other band mates were asking him if he wanted the gig - I told them to STFU and that we would discuss it later, but I knew this cat was the Real Deal and we were a bunch of kids who just wasted his time. I actually knew who he was as soon as he walked thru the door, but my band mates had no clue - I thanked him for his time and told him “don’t call us - we’ll call you”, but I knew he was just way too good for us. Afterwards my band mates asked me why I “didn’t want him to come back” since he was the best bassist we had auditioned… I told them “this guy was out of our league and we would’ve held him back had a stuck with us”… Louie’s an awesome musician and I’m SO glad I had the opportunity to jam with him, even tho he was a master playing amongst students - he didn’t show any disappointment when he showed up, and like the Pro he is, he handled the scenario like a champ! Much respect to Louie Mayorga for driving from Venice to South Central LA from an ad’ I posted in the Recycler to jam with some mocosos who knew how to attract serious musicians with words! The man’s the Real Deal!
Yeah there's some vintage live Suicidal footage on youtube with the Dunnigan bros before Louichi was in the band. They had a surf/skate punk look before the cholo look
@@ChasetheCometmike dunnigan but louichi is the one every long term fan remembers. I personally thought he was great and should have never left. STs music was better before Robert joined the band. In my humble opinion

Cause he is :)

Haha I did that shit. Mailed my tape to my self
Your English is really good
Thank you!🙏
Wasn’t Mike Dunnigan the original?
That’s what I thought , but think he didn’t play on the album he’d left by that point
Mike Dunnigan was the first Bass player and the second guitar player I believe.
Check out AgainST No Arms for more of the original sound.
Yeah there's some vintage live Suicidal footage on youtube with the Dunnigan bros before Louichi was in the band. They had a surf/skate punk look before the cholo look
Great video , but that guy on the camera clicking that water bottle! 😂
🤭
Cool video. But you forgot to blur the Modelo can in the beginning. 😂
Just one short hint on what Lou might be drinking! 😄 Thanks for the comment!🙏
@@ChasetheComet Why is it even censored???
@@GyntherMeyer it’s not censored, it’s recommended by RUclips to avoid problems with ads
@@ChasetheCometRUclips is weird sometimes
I like the how will I laugh line up the best Louie is not the original member it was someone else Lou is a great player
Suicidal were a straight up hardcore punk band before Mike went into his cholo era and started the Metal/Hardcore punk crossover
Suicidal for Life 💀
I wish she would have let him speak more
He spoke enough. I wish you knew how to say thank you for what other people are doing for you.
Well looks like your calling shots now lol I respect the ground your taking ah-ite !
The pits, the old stage and the roller skates not the skatepark. The skatepark is still too new most people from Venice
I wish they talked more about how much money he got paid for a gig ??
That ain’t something that’d interest us, tho 🤨
He wasn't the original bassest
And who was, then?🤨
