Sash I am okay with that, I’m American and honestly I think the sex on the first date thing has gone out of control and ultimately it’s made it harder to find relationship material people.

As an italian guy the skinship part really got me, like, even with my friends, both males and females i'm always really physical, if i know that a person doesn't like it then i immediatly stop, and ofc if the person is a really close friend i continue just to bother them ;D, but otherwise i try to respect others personal space as much as i can. But for me is really strange to not touch someone at all during the bonding phase before a date, i can't even imagine not touching someone when i'm on the actual date. And i don't even mean in a sexual/sensual/flirty way, just like, you have something on you jacket, i'll take it off, i have cold hands, i'll touch your hands to let you know, you have a nice earring, i'll take the hairs out to look at it, and it happens so much in everyday life with everyone i know that like, seeing a lot of people agreeing with their mindset makes me feel bad about all the times i jokingly had skinship with i don't know, my japanese friends, my north european or german friends. I really didn't know that it could bother them so much.

Boi it’s the same for me. I’m an Armenian who speaks Russian but lives in Canada. Here not lots of people don’t like being touched in anyway even if you’re friends (family and bf/gf doesn’t count). It’s so weird to me since both my Family is so touchy with every relative and my Russian friends are the same too, it’s like you’re family to them so they can like hug or kiss you as a greeting. If you do this to a Canadian they will be like “why did you just hug me? Do you like me?” So yeah, not showing physical affection towards people is always strange to me

개인적으론 어떤 것이든 외국문화가 좋아보인다고 그것을 따를 필요는 없다고 봐요. 우리나라는 우리나라대로 좋은 문화를 만들고 개선해나가는게 정답이죠.

I always think, whoever was the invitor(?) should pay. Like, if i invite someone for coffee, i should pay. OR if someone invited me to a movie they should pay (i bring extra money just in case tho cus I want a big popcorn).

Nowadays you converse and agree on most dates so I dont see how that will come into play very often. I still see it as women wanted equality when it benefits them. If you respect yourself as a women and your partner, you should always split the bill, unless your partner is in an obvious way better financial situation, or if he or she suggest a very expensive place where he/she knows you cant contribute with the same amount. Then it would be fair to contribute with what youre able to pay.
It’s very normal in my country to pay for your own stuff. 😅
내가 다른 나라에 그리고 많은 외국인들에게 보편적으로 가지는 시각이 얼마나 단면적이고 편협한지 알게 되는 것 같다. 상대의 시선으로 우리의 문화를 보게되고 나의 시선으로 그들의 문화에 대한 생각을 돌아보게 되는 것이 참 색다른 영상이네요.

From my experience, it is also still very expected from men in Western culture to pay on the first date. I personally think that you should either switch it up or the person who asks someone out should pay (and I know that a lot of young western people agree), but I do not think that most women are fine with men not paying on the first date. For most, they might come across as cheap.

뜬끔없는데 차별발언 하려는것도 외국인 처음본것도 아니지만 뭔가 제대로보니까 사람들이 다 이렇게 다르게 생겼다는게 너무 신기하다... 미국이나 유럽사람들은 이런 다양성을 어릴때부터 접하고 익숙해지고 생각을 확장시킬 시간을 충분히 가지게 된다는게 너무 부러움 결국사람이라는건 자기가 속해 있는 환경과 보고 느끼는것에 생각을 국한시키기 때문에 세상에 있는 다양함을 최대한 더많이 더빨리 접한다는건 생각하는 힘이 그만큼 커진다는거고 세상을 기준으로 했을때 더 많은 정보력을 갖게 되니 더욱 유리한 위치에 서게된다는걸 의미하는거 같다

I have a Korean friend and when me and all my other friends met her during p.e (the p.e group is summed up with many classes and so my class didn’t know she joined) and I remember it was winter. Her hands were extremely cold and she immediately started holding our hands. It was really weird at first for me because she was holding my hand but it was on her lap so i was confused. (Because of the skinship, I was slightly frightened because my first thought was “is she gay?”. As a straight person I was afraid of that possibility. She actually is a bisexual but the skin ship is very scary in my opinion if you’re not used to it.
I guess from Western countries, physical affection isn’t that normalized for friends. I kinda think it’s a shame, friends should be able to do stuff like that without “seeming” gay I guess.
