What do you do with branches that are already hanging down low from the top of the trellis, and they start to curl, or those branches that start to grow these little small segments of branches?
Hi, I have planted two cuttings with roots. Both started growing really good initially but now both new sprouts are not growing well. One new branch is quite slim as compare to main trunk, other is fine and thick but have stopped growing further after 8 inches. Now the thinner branch growing but not a single new sprout is coming out. Height of the plants is almost 2.5 feet. Need your help. Please
Hey Richard, ive watched your video about how to make your dragonfruit survive the winter, but i was also wondering, are there any varieties that are more winter-hardy than others? (Great video btw, keep it up!)
Ecuador palora are always a solid option. Mine still produce fruits through the winter in SoCal… our winters don’t get as cold or last long as many parts of the world though
Will skinny growth from light deficiency become thick and normal once you bring it out to the sun? Or should I remove the skinny growth and start over??
@GraftingDragonFruit thank you I had the same question. Ok I'm going to leave my growth. I have 30 percent shade and for some reason the branches got skinny on me. Now they get morning sun untill around 3 then 30 percent shade
@@mauriciodiaz1310 I put my cuttings under 60% shade cloth 😅 I guess that was over kill but summer is brutal temps are at 105-115. I didn’t want to cause any scorching but it seems they can handle more light/sun than we assume
Hi Richard, do slugs attack your dragon fruit plants? What do you use to keep slugs off your plants? I have a few dragon fruits, but each time new growth comes up they get eaten by slugs. Thanks
Yes I get them from time to time. I just stay vigilant and get rid of them when I see them. Also allowing spiders to live on the plants have help. You can probably find some slug preventative products in your garden supply store to help
Question: My main branch has been cropped and it has 3 main robust new growth but I'm at an impasse. They seem to be stunted and haven't done much for awhile. What should be done after this stage? T.i.a.
Do you sell cuttings? I am interested to make an experiment since I live in a Colder climate like Seattle, Washington and would like to try. Pls let me know, thanks...
Hey please i need help: i have a cutting that already rooted but all of its sides look like they are callis so i haven't got any side shooting since like forever what should i do?
Omg bro. Im in loovee with dragon fruit.. Ive been studying it for so long Ive looked into dragon fruit topics I wont even ever need and have tried to grow my own. The local climate here in the Czech republic isnt ideal but the summers sure are hot so my plan is to take it out when its hot and keep it indoors when its autumn winter and such. But thats where the problem comes in its been 3 weeks and I dont see a single sign of germination. Ive devided them into two groups, one on a wet piece of towel the other in soil but neither has grown. The seeds were told to me to be 2 years old and Im hoping that 20 seeds is enough for me to grow it keeping in mind how old the seeds are. I am stressed bro I know the germination process can take up to 8 weeks but how do I know that that wait is going to result in it? Please send psychological help or a rope
I am growing a red dragonfruit variety but I have no clue to what variety it is I posted a RUclips short on my channel if someone were to tell me what variety it could be that would be amazing!
Hi, my dragon frout plant is welthy& good conditim...its flowering good , but all flowers are fell off after bloom. Even 1 flower can not frouting( 2 .5 years plant..) what s the prblm???can u guide me what to do?
Im not Richard but I have seen many videos and in many videos he tells you that if it is self sterile it’s flower falls of if you pollinate it’s flower with its pollen. So it depends on whether or not it is self fertile or self sterile variety if if is a self fertile variety and it’s doing that then Richard would know. If it is a self sterile and pollinated with different pollen maybe it rejects the pollen? I don’t know for sure but Richard would know what the problem it is. Hopefully the problem will be fixed in the future.

Great advice, you have amazing passion for the hobby. It’s inspiring
Please reply me if you can
I have a question
after you prunned how much day takes it to give new shoots 👀👀
when you crop the top do you remove it from direct sun to avoid issues with it healing after the cut?
Hello Richard! you are really the best dragon fruit grower teacher. thanks again for sharing this idea.
I needed this video! Thank you so much!!! I also want to ask about the winter, what temperature is dangerous
for dragons? Thank you in advance!❤
You’re welcome! Check out my video on winter tips

Great to see how you do it. I have done some that way and works well to improve vigor and promoting new growth. Thank you Richard.
Hey Richard just wondering what are your top three favorites ?

Did you change how you built the trellis? What size pots are those? Are you still using Gary’s Top Pot?
I didn’t change how built my trellis. Check out my most recent video on building trellis. 25 gallons and Yes these pots have Gary’s in them
Hi! Richard

@@GraftingDragonFruit alright thanks! Yeah over here in Canada the winter can get rough, so i wanted to be cautious 😄
Will skinny growth from light deficiency become thick and normal once you bring it out to the sun? Or should I remove the skinny growth and start over??
Once they get the right nutrients and sunlight, they can get thicker. Also tipping the branches when they’re ready will help as well

Quick question the pots aren't a bit too near each other? Specially when they spread from the top? THANKS

Not at the moment
very useful information
Glad you think so!

are those new plants growing in shade or partial sun?
Looking great Richard! It would be nice to show how to tell a branch form a bud at the young stage. Thanks for the great videos

Berry breath taste test video coming?
Yes definitely plan on it
what do i do if the branch is growing really short (3-5 inch) branches but there are 4 in a row?
Prune them and let it continue growing
Do they have to be that tall? I’m growing it inside my home so it’s not possible for me to let them grow that much even though I want fruit
They don’t have to be this tall. It’s my preference for the trellis

What triggers it to flower?
What is your pot diameter(Top), please.
What is going on when the new growth is growing thin and not full and thick?
It’s still maturing and you can also tip the end when it’s ready
So what are the squares of each dragon fruit tops for? You've never explained why?
It's to let the plants grow over and into an umbrella
@GraftingDragonFruit Why you seem to have the 2x4 poles to help your dragon fruit stems already?
cuttings needed plz
