Richard can you please comment on the new soil your using and it’s compaction. I hear Decomposed granite will become heavily compacted stunting your root growth. 😊 I m using top pot specs but only 30% peat and adding 5% worm castings 30% pumice 15% perlite 10% sand 5% bio char also innoculated in the worm bin too 😊trying to add lots of banana to the worm bin to help with flowering too😊
I made a new trellis for my Ecuador Paloras last spring; one currently has fruit on it (January ‘25). I can’t wait to see more flowers. You have to be patient with the variety. The flowers also developed twice as long as the others!
Richard, love the video. As always, you are an inspiration. You said Ecuador Palora flowers and sets fruit in September and ripens its fruit 90-100 days later in Feb-March. That math does not work. Fruit set in September + 90-100 days = December - January, Not Feb-March. Do you mean 150-180 days? The later makes sense to me. They seem to grow continually as long as the weather is warm and they have enough sun. However, in the wintertime they mostly stop growing, but they start growing again when the weather is warmer and they get more sun around Mar-April for me. My reds and pinks usually have a late bloom October in September and October. They ripen all winter long wrapping it up around end of March probably because I’m a lot higher elevation. I’m up in the mountains around 1850 feet in San Diego county.
So greatful I found this channel. I am very interested in growing these dragon fruit on our 7acre property in west Tucson Az. I haven't flipped through all your video's, but my hope is to harvest and sell to the restaurants that sell these. Any help would be much appreciated.
I happened to pass in your channel, because I am an appreciator of pitaya and have around 20 varieties that I grow in buckets here in Brazil, I acquired seedlings from a collector of pitayas that has hundreds of varieties, his channel is Betinho pitayas , is an excellent channel and I believe you would like to see the videos of it that as well as yours are very interesting, and these varieties there are two competitors of palora that maybe know, which are the Peruvian Amazon and Tingo Maria
Thank you for all the valuable & interesting videos..I have learned new tips eventhough I have grown dargonfruits for 15 years...Can you let me know where I can buy a few arms of the Yellow? I am interested to grow it now...love the sweet flavorful megenta..
No wonder my Equadorian Palora hasnt budded yet after 4 years! Which rootstock other than Vietnam white would you suggest to grow them in my area? I have purple haze, american beauty, for example. Live in zone 10b, southern California. Thanks!

From the feedback I’ve gotten and those I’ve talked to, as long as you have a good mixture with the granite, it is solid and doesn’t affect growth
Really nice and informative video been waiting for an Ecuador Palora one for a while. Thanks Richard and happy growing!!
Thanks for watching!

Saudações aqui do Brasil 🇧🇷
If you cross pollinate EP with VW pollen, does it make the fruit grow bigger?
Typically cross pollinating does get bigger fruits.
Thanks Richard
You’re welcome!
Does it matter if you graft it to a seedling or branch? Thanks
