    I've been wearing the Dune Bronze for about 3 months and I enjoy it very much. The green and the bronze just go so well together. And it's been entertaining to see how the bronze changes patina in different environments (it looked particularly attractive after some time in the Gulf of Mexico). The micro-adjust was very stiff at first but loosened up nicely after a week or two - I've been using it constantly this summer.
    A fantastic timepiece... for me.

    Evan, it’s too early to fully have watched this, but I gotta give props to Christopher Ward’s exceptional customer service. They personally called me from across the pond earlier this morning (what’s up with that?) to apologize for an error in my order and what they would do to make things right. They’ve made me a believer.

    I finally got to try this line and many other Christopher Wards on at Windup Chicago this past weekend. CW is the real deal. There is a lot of refinement and every watch from the Dune to the divers and Twelve were amazingly comfortable on wrist. While the quick adjust is not always the smoothest, it's definitely preferable to figuring out which of 3 drawers I shoved my watch tools in to pop a spring bar out of the micro adjust clasp. Wait, it ended up on the shelf. Was in a hurry last time? Sorry, I got distracted. Anyway, my only quibble is a personal design preference. In an affront to the Dune name, I would love to see the black and the blue dial versions with crisp white markers. I just think they would be stunning with that option. I don't dislike the way they look now, but I like the other way more. I am not thrilled by the recent price hikes across the industry, including CW's, but I feel you're getting a better watch than some more expensive watches in this case.

  • @_AlphaLimaGolf
    @_AlphaLimaGolf Год назад +10

    Another great video Evan!
    I have 12 watches in my collection (a limit I make myself keep to), currently half of them are from Christopher Ward.
    They just do so well at their price point (and often punch way above it), that although I often look at other brands I end up going back to CW because you get more for less. I don’t think I can give higher praise than that.
    If heritage means little to you (as it does for me), then they are seriously worth your consideration.

    • @YoureTerrific
      @YoureTerrific  Год назад +5

      Brand heritage seems like a silly requirement to me, but I know many people use it as their primary motivator. And I see a difference between heritage and track record. Narrative vs. customer experience.

      CW could be good, no doubt. But it's a long, long way away for support and warranty. The 5-year warranty demands at least one servicing by them and only them, in the first 5 years, so count the cost and hassle of shipping watches back to England as part of your TCO. And I'm not bitter, just because mine decided to develop a "helicopter" rotor in the first six months of ownership.

    Christopher Ward has been hard to ignore lately. I don't really buy into the whole beater watch thing. If it's that bad, I just remove my watch (really, it's OK). But there are times when it would be foolish to wear an expensive high end timepiece. Camping trips and adventure holidays, for example (at least the kind I like to do). For these things a watch that isn't crazy expensive but still a damn nice thing to have on your wrist... I just feel everyone needs a watch like this. I know I do. And I think my next one might just be a Christopher Ward. Very possibly one of these. Thanks for sharing.

Vintage aged looms looks horrible. 2) Add a red tip to the second hand like on the C65 Aquitaine. 3) while the on the fly adjust is nice, the clasp is ridiculously too long. A shorter clasp would be preferred. I’m also not sure why the trident second hand is on a field watch?

    I’d be interested to see what they can do in the $8-10K price range. I wonder if they can make something that contends with the $10-20K competition. I’d bet that they can do even better than that.

    I like everything but the brand logo. I wish it was different. I would be more interested because I like what the brand is doing. I just don't want to look down at the ugly, blocky Swiss crosses.

    I've never measured my wrist. If it's 3 inches its a foot in my book. So my wrist must be at least two feet around.

    Two things. Uno, exactly what is it CW wants us watch folk to associate them with? What is their brand identity? Is it simply value for $? And if so, does that combined with solid product make a compelling enough story to open watch enthusiast wallets? For me, I guess the answer is no at the moment, as I don't own one. But! And that leads me to comment dos ... I have a feeling they are going to change that soon.

      Just have to order one. You won’t regret it. Compared to higher end luxury watches you get so much more for a fraction of the price.
      You won’t get heritage- but a very good watch.
      Could not justify to get an Omega or Rolex diver with my bronze CW on my wrist…😅
