You are a patient man. I would junk it if it didn't start.
I don't blame you for being fruststated, Brock. I had a very similar issue with the same type of machine. Thanks for the review! Take care 👍
I personally would have taken it back to the store on the first day when it wouldn't start and gotten my money back. $500 is way too much money to lose on junk equipment straight from the factory. Is there a reason you didn't return it that first day?
I'm not understanding why he didn't take it back as well? This is basically retarded.
Exactly what I was saying during the whole video.
I thought I just didn't know how to use it. 😮
I had the same problem from day one. It's hit or miss if it will start. I would even drag it to cement pad thinking that would help. Works great when on, but once it shuts off can't get it back on most off the time.
The primer on my Tazz walk behind (Chinese) requires a 2 second wait between pushes. This is called for in the manual. The directions are to give 3 pushes when cold and no priming when warm. It starts first pull every time.
I've been using it for 3 years now.
I try and stay away from that off brand stuff, it’s been hit and miss for me, not worth it. I like that you show the good and the bad.
Check to make sure Carb is not loose. Had a tiller do this, the plastic manifold between the carb and head was cracked. The engine ran lean, which caused it to overheat. My guess is a loose carb. The same thing happened to my Predator post-hole digger. Tightened the carb and ran like a champ. Great info. I have the Dirty Hand Tools version of this with a Kohler 6.5 Runs like a champ. Good for ditches.
I’ve had the cub cadet version for 5 years and LOVE it.
You're blessed. I have the same and it never starts after downtime.
I totally agree Brock...I rarely shop at Home Depot, and only buy name brand at a place with a mechanic that will work on it. Every piece of equipment will fail at some time and need repair and/or parts.
This is some of the dumbest s*** I've seen in a while. You buy a brand new piece of equipment. It doesn't work right. So what do you do? Take it back? NO?! You do retarded sh**. This guy is a f***ing imbecile.
I didn't care for this trimmer, but watched the video because you're entertaining.
I had a Toro brand of the same design. Mine survived 7 years of abuse. It was a beast, always cranked. It had a Tecumseh motor from what I remember.
I now have a Stihl Kombi 130 or 135 w string trimmer that is also a beast. I finally changed the air filter on it after 8 years. It ALWAYS cranks and runs better and longer than I do. Stabil and marine gas gets it done.
It's an air/fuel mixture problem. 1. Look down its throat hole and make sure the choke butterfly is fully opening when the choke lever stops moving (I don't think it's that because that wouldn't explain the hard starting but something to rule out) 2. While it's running close the choke a little at a time and if it runs smoother then you have a fuel restriction, if it runs worse or dies then you are getting to much fuel. 3. While it's running full speed put your hand over its throat hole and completely suffocate it till it dies, you want all the engine vacuum to be contained in the carb. Start it back up, (it'll black smoke for a second or two no big deal) this will hopefully dislodge any trash that might be clogging an orifice inside the carb, it might take two or three times of this. Anything further than this the carb will have to come apart to look everything over. 4. And this is the most important one of all...Stop letting your wife make decisions!! Have a great day
YOU know your stuff !!
Somtimes the cable stretches to the the safety start bar, or is too long to begin with. If it doesn't start, or starts to die, bypass it by pulling back manually at the carburetor. If that doesn't work, another common problem is poor venting gas cap. If it dies, take off the gas cap, then put it back on. If it runs for a while, then quits, you need a new cap, or check the vent holes on the old one. These are usually factory sealed, and all you can do is soke it, and blow it out. It is less trouble just to get a new one, and soak the old for later.
If it has a 650 series Briggs and Stratton, it could also have a damaged or missing intake manifold gasket where the manifold meets the cylinder. I found one of these where it was shipped from the factory without one, and it was drawing in excess air and dirt. It would start hard, requiring 10 or more pushes on the primer bulb. The threads of the bolts were run all the way down, but the manifold was just a little loose, rattling around. It was nearly 20 years old, built in 2006, and after a new coil (which bench checked bad), plug, and carburetor (the float cup attachment body had partially dissolved) , it started first pull. I put a new primer bulb in it too, but it starts without it, and now runs until out of gas, or you get tired. I also tossed the resistor plug, and replaced it with a comparable non-resistor type. Before I had worked on it, nothing had ever needed done to it but annual oil, plug and air filter changes, and lots of pulls on the starter rope. When it quit originally, it had been left out in the weather for two years, which explained the bad coil, and water in the carburetor bowl dissolving the works. It also had a frayed kill wire, which might have caused some problems. However, if that hadn't of happened, I wouldn't have discovered the missing gasket, and the whole thing might have ended up in the trash out of pure frustration with it.
@@danoakes4071 Good find !!
I bought a DR trimmer years ago. Sent it back to them within a week. Lucky for me they paid the shipping on the returns back then. I wanted it to trim a fence line and around my pond. In my opinion they are useless. Handheld trimmer is faster and easier. If only someone would make one with an offset head. Then they might be useful.
Which one did you get? I got the older version of the pro 7.5 with the quick-lock trimmer head, right now I'm using the 225 mil saw tooth line, when I run out I'm going to upgrade to the 255 mil saw blade line. I have mobility issues so having a trimmer I can push and not carry is a great help.
The heads are offset on the new ones.
Hi Brock. That trimmer is very frustrating .A carburetor for that small motor is probably less than 30 bucks. Before you throw it out or sell it ,I would try a new one.Bottom line, you should never have to do this with a new piece of equipment.
Course, should have taken it back a year ago, probably our of fate now. Carb has done problem with it. Surging is generally junk in the metering jet. Pull it apart and clean it. But that's the tlc you said you don't want to do for it. Can't blame ya.
I see what's wrong.... dont hold that handle down when you're trying to start it. That little handle engages the spinning head. Holding that down makes it tough to start. Just don't hold the little handle down. Bet it starts
Just finished your video... something isn't right. Shouldn't have to go back and forth over that. Should be able to just walk through it and keep going... and please tighten that body up on that thing....rattles like a sum bitch. Lol
As soon as I heard him say it was a floor model that was getting left outside I was thinking it should have been 50% off
😊plastic carburetors are just junk and it seems that is what most of them come with nowadays….
Sounds like the wrong one got backed over😂
Thanks for the good information.👍🏻Keep up the good work!!!
Replace the spark plug, if it says Torch on the plug, pull it and chuck it. Put a champion or ngk plug in it. Those China plugs are known to cause starting problems and to quit when hot
Brock, we've ALL been bitten by cheap Chinese knock-off products at least once. Fool me once... The lesson you just learned will last a lifetime. Having said that, I agree with the comment below. Throw a new carb on it, if that doesn't work, film a video of you placing it on top of a huge burn pile with your escavator, for a closing to. your 3-part review. LOL. We've all been burned at sometime, but I for one never forgot the lesson. Thanks for bringing us along.
Odd, we bought one new, and used it a bunch of times on our tree farm to cut saplings and weeds, and it works great. We paid $229 on sale, looking for a second one a that price. Ours starts up with one or two pulls each time, after a few pumps of the primer bulb.
A lot of times the plugs are not properly gapped at the factory. I typically check the plug gap on any equipment that is different to start.
I have a DR Trimmer that looks about like what you have. I do not have to hold the bail closed to start it. I can start the engine and the trimmer head will not turn until I pull the bail closed. If you are holding the bail closed while you are trying to start the trimmer, it will make it a LOT harder to start. My DR instructions say at the beginning to NOT hold the bail closed while starting. I also had one of the Husquevarna trimmers years ago and it was the same way. It is easy to get into the habit of holding the bail closed while starting if you use a push mower a lot...
Yeah, my other one was like that. That’s one of my complaints about this specific trimmer is it does not have the functionality to stay running without the head spinning.
Thanks Brock. I just had the same experience & now I don’t feel like an idiot.
I got one question why didn't you take it back when it first didn't start when you got it on or maybe two questions did you try to start it at the store because it was already built
I would bet a chunk of money on it being the carburetor. Different brand but had similar issue with one I used to own and sold. I drained the fuel like you did, as well as took the bowl off the carburetor and drained it. Solved the problem long enough for me to sell it. For an almost sure fix, I would order a new carb and switch them out. I would imagine the carb is very inexpensive. Have had to do this on pressure washers in the past. Easier to replace the carb than fool around too long trying to clean it.
yes not getting enough gas carb spring needs adj
Mine starts and runs just fine. The only problem I had was when I hit a tv cable and it shredded my drive belt. I tried to find out the belt size and I ended up measuring it myself. If you are interested it is- 2"x37".
The sad thing here I was that even some of the name brand items are 'made in China'.. I have yet to find ANYTHING that is made in China to work for long.
Don't worry about feeling stupid - you get used to it.
The worst piece of equipment I ever owned was a craftsman weedeater. I have a 72 inch finish mower if you wanna borrow or come and do a little testing since you said you think it would be better in the corners. And my 16-year-old stepdaughter hit a deer with her Honda years ago and it has been my daily driver for a while now. It’s a beauty. I’m a little behind on my comments. I know it doesn’t help you to combine them here but I will get caught up…
Most weed-eaters are a pain. We use them year round here in south Florida. Quality fuel and the cleaning of filters and carb is the best way to keep them running. Often many people just don't know how to do common sense diagnostics to find the real problem and then repair it. Several pieces of my equipment are 3-10 years old. I do maintenance often, and try to stay ahead of repairs rather than having to fix at time of failure.
I don't have an application for that type of machine, but I do buy push lawnmowers. The only thing I look for in a mower is horsepower and that it's a Briggs and Stratton. I abuse the heck out of my mowers, cutting brush and heavy weeds. When the mower is completely shot and not useable, I get a new one. But every mower that I wear out, if it has a Briggs and Stratton motor, the motor still runs well. I buy a new one if the wheels fall off, the discharge parts break, the cables fail, or the handle gets damaged. My typical mower last for around two years. I push it under my breezeway for the winter, just making sure I run out all of the gas. In the spring, I put gas in it, and it starts with two or three pulls. I'm too old to have the time or patience to sit there and pull and pull to get a motor started. I think you're right in thinking your machine is a piece of junk. We win some and we lose some. The key is making sure we learn from the experience. Keep on learning, Brock, and keep on sharing!
I find old mowers and revive them to good working condition, as my hobby. Just taking care of them and they'll run for many years. Most engines are good if you change the oil, filters and use good clean fuel. When you run'em hard , yeaaa sooner or later you've worn them out to being a used parts machine. I get it, some people just don't like doing maintenance on small engines.
I bought a champion log splitter, love it, always starts but my only complaint is that the pull start mechanism spring went bad on the first day. I rigged it up but the pull is real short now.
I agree with you regarding not buying preassembled (in the store) items from Home Depot. I bought a beautiful rolling table with an attractive wood top from them. They had several of which one had a bent leg; another had drawers that wouldn't open. I bought the third assembled table, carefully loaded it into my truck and got it home without incident. When I opened the drawers, ball bearings scattered all over my garage floor! I'm still finding them. Too much trouble to load it back up and carry it back, so I installed new slides I happened to have. I also purchased a new Husky 33 gallon air compressor from HD; it's of poor quality and has required multiple repairs.
I purchased a DR Power muncher with a B&S XR engine and it was nothing but headaches to start it. I then purchased a $13.00 carburetor from eBay and that turned out to be the best solution for the starting problem.
On my the top lever engages the string head. There is a kill switch on the main handle on the right side to allow you to start / stop the engine.. The video shows you starting it with the top lever 'down'. When you let go of it it flips up. Try starting it with the lever up.
I got the "Tazz" (model 40095) version from Amazon and it seems to differ from yours in that it has a separate kill switch for the engine while the bail on the handle controls the trimmer head clutch; a far more useful control setup. Mine runs wells and has plenty of power for dealing with tall grasses and vines under 1/4", but the main downside compared to the DR Premier 26 field and brush mower it is temporarily replacing (while the latter is in the shop getting a new transaxle under warranty...) is that trying to mow down woody stems shreds the trimmer strings in short order, despite that I am using the thickest strings it can handle (0.155"). Consequently, it really isn't a substitute for a brush mower. That said, it also cost about 1/5th as much as the DR, so there's that.
I've used the DR and own the YardMax version. I've never had any issues. I've cleared trails through the woods and cleared brush in areas that haven't been touched in over a decade. Could the issue be the operator?
put a new spark plug in it-those torch plugs that come with a lot of new equipment are junk
You got that right! A friend had a brand new Predator motor and it was hard to start. I told him to get a better quality spark plug, and it started on first pull every time after that
Champion products are awesome. I have had the 4000 Watt generator for over 7 years and it sits with old gas and will always start up right away when needed.
Howdy Brock! Yeah I'm having an issue with my one year old tiller... replaced the fuel, will run if I spray starter fluid constantly... but as soon as I stop with the starter fluid it dies. I thought the float was maybe sticking, but getting good fuel flow from the tank. Ugh... I really don't want to pull the carb off but I'm thinking that is next. Totally understand the frustration! Thanks for sharing 🤠
I'd suggest you go thru just basic diagnostics to pin down your specific problem. Really not much effort to pull and dissemble the carb and inspect. Usually just a piece of dirt or an adjustment/repair is all thats needed. 'Fuel" related issues seem to be most common now-a-days. Also make sure the choke setting is correct. Good Luck !! Billy from Texas
@@billycarpenter4740 Thanks for the input - I appreciate it! I've been avoiding that final step of taking the carb off and giving it a thorough cleaning. Time has been short recently and to be honest, I don't know if I have taken one apart before. If I did it was probably in high school! Plenty of teachers on YT, just need to find some time! 🤠
Those carburators are supposed to be set at the factory and non adjustable. The first thing i do with those is to take a dremel tol witha cut off wheel and put a slot in the mixture screw so it can be turned with a flat head. Richen it up a little and it should smoot out
I think I would “accidentally “ back over it again. 😊 doing chores are hard enough without the frustration of it not running properly.
Don’t feel bad my friend. I have a pressure washer that never wants to start. When I take it to my neighbors house for him to look at it. It’s starts on the first pull every time 🙄 they will make a fool of you every time lol
Take the top cover off and get to where the magnetic coil sits. There should be a magnet on the flywheel. Take some sand paper and clean up both surfaces then put some light oil on them and wipe it off. Probably just got a little rusted.
I had the same problem with a brand new honda motor right out of the box that had sat on the shelf for a decade. My mom's boyfriend told me this trick and the motor fired up second pull after that.
Good morning Brock. I'm no expert but I think that the problem is most likely the carburetor. If it's made like the one on my old lawnmower it has a diaphragm inside that pumps the gas. A bad diaphragm will cause the surging. Just trying to help. Don't know if I did. God bless. 👍👍👍
Did he check the spark plug gap?
I wonder if it is an air problem. I had a mower once that had a defective gas cap and it would do that. Thanks for the video!
I cover my engines that have to sit outside with a plastic tote upside down.
Hi Brock I just bought a Cub Cadet version of this. I bought it to mow grass around trees. I’m disappointed with it and am trying to sell it. At least the Cub Cadet version starts up first or second pull.
It's a carburetor issue the way it is surging got some corrosion from water vapor
DR trimmer/mower are pretty expensive and made- in - American. I prefer to spending $1 thousands dollars for DR trimmer mower high wheels with a Beaver Blades chainsaw attachment and bigger engine of 8 horsepower 4 cycle without adding oil gas together in the mower and using a battery key started without damaging my shoulder and arm.
I purchased the DR Power trimmer . . . two pulls and it fires up. I think you got a bad machine my friend.
If you do not take care of your equipment, your equipment will not take care of you.
Sometimes a new piece of equipment has a bit of factory "dirt" that can get into the carb.. I have a new Champion engine that has an issue. I found a very tiny thin black disk in the bowl of the gas cut off valve.
I have yet to look to see if another one got into the carb., causing the issues; but in the meantime I contacted Champion and they sent every part needed to replace every part that could be the issue :-) ...if not another bit of factory debris.
I have two pieces of Champion equipment. Good company to deal with, especially when they know you are taking good care of your machines.
Hi Brock, that thing has water in the carb. That’s why you move it just so and it coughs and sputters. Pull off the carb and clean. Check out fellow you tuber James Condon. He has multiple videos cleaning carbs. That’s why it won’t start without spaying down the throat of the carb to get it warmed up. This was caused by them storing it outside. It got water in the tank and eventually in the carb. This is an easy fix. I know you said you’re done but someone is getting a deal. Hope this helps. Have a great one.
I’d give Billy a call, tell him to bring the mini-x over and put that thing out of it’s misery.
Sounds to me like it's the governor spring. Got stretched-out during assembly or snagged on something..or the bracket that holds it got bent. I had a brand new Honda push mower and that spring popped off of it on like the second time I used it. (Hated that mower...and soon sold it, luckily only losing $100 on the deal).
I bought a D R brand at the beginning of this summer. It's been sitting in our metal building more than it's been out of it. IF you can get it started it won't stay started. The BIGGEST waste of money I've ever spent. Never again.
I bought the cheapest DR trimmer mower they make and it works flawlessly for me. Only regret is not buying a better model with a clutch to disengage the cutting head. Mine just sings full-blast as long as the engine is running, which is kind of annoying when moving it around places you don't need to cut anything.
@14:46 for a deck that is wider than wheels, you could try a walk behind brush mower (with blades, not strings). and of course, blades will cut more and more quickly than strings, but the price of the unit is about 5x or 6x times as much as a walk behind trimmer.
True but the advantage of a string mower is that you can mow over bricks, lumber, concrete pads, steel posts and other debris that will destroy a bladed mower and they will turn rocks and other light debris into projectiles.
@@danielebrparish4271Well, I just read the entire operator manual and twice it specifically said to make sure rocks, bones, toys, wood and other debris is not in the path of mower, with a big hazard icon. DUH.
I bought a cub cadet a few years ago and I love mine. Paid under 400 at the time (2020 I think.) Starts the first couple pulls almost every time. I looked into DR and those trimmers seem to have gotten bad reviews over the last few years. Seems like they started having some QC issues. Good to know that brand isn't that great but sorry you had to figure it out the hard way.
I know it's already been over 2 years but you should have exchanged it as soon as you had issues
Why small engines start surging? Gummed up carburetor. Pour Sta-bil fuel stabilizer into tank at the end of mowing season. The carb and fuel tank, line system needs cleaning out because gumming up from old gas. I use carb spray to clean mine. It sure helps fix the surging.
You may want to try some Sta-bil Fast Fix in your fuel. The surge could be caused by a dirty/gummy carb. The Fast Fix may help if it isn't in to bad of shape.
Don’t those have a kill switch?
I bought a new engine for my mower. It gave me fits. I found the engine flywheel brake has a kill switch If the cable is not adjusted just right. The spark is intermittent. Went from poop show to great running engine after adjusting that one tiny hidden issue
Can u show us a video of the hustler x one mowing?
I have recorded it, but my first two videos with that hustler mower have to be approved by Hustler because they are officially sponsored videos.
After this next video, I can do what I want
I think after you couldnt get it started when it was new..that was your free warning that it's a POS and you should return it.
I responded above. Diagnose and fix it, or return it.
they just found out that the ground wire was loose on my DR one it seems to be working fine after the terminal on the wire was tightened up it left the factory that way
you might want to check that out
Does it have spark???
I bought a Predator 9000 generator from Harbor Freight. It was hard starting using he battery start and simply could not be started using the pull rope. I didn't think much about it. I ran it a few times over two years. Then on day I really needed it. I started it (battery start) and it ran for just over a minute and died. It never started again. I found my receipt and found I had a couple of months on the warranty. They replaced it and the new one can be pull started! And it starts easy on battery. The old one was just bad from the beginning. I keep 100% gas in my equipment and start regularly so there is not excuse for not starting. And I keep everything in doors.
Did you put oil in the trimmer????
Mine won't start/run after sitting garage all winter. If I spray starter fluid in carburetor it will start and run for few seconds and then dies - its not getting any fuel. Fortunately less than 1 year old and still under warranty
I bought one of those from HD and it did a good job for about three weeks, then the belt pulley on the drive spindle broke loose and would just spin on the shaft. Got my money back.
maybe you can ask @StevesSmallEngineSaloon. my laymen opinion is that it sounds like your lines or your carburetor is gummed up. something is probably running too rich and flooding the engine. my (ryobi) pressure washer does the same thing, and i have to run it at half-throttle or else it will sit there and surge up and down and eventually turn off.
I had 2 of these and all the stuff flew off and dropped out. Getting a second refund, thankfully, but I have a lot of stress on these. I had a Craftsman for 20 years and it went, so nothing is comparable. Any thoughts or direction on other companies. Have 10 acres of just weeds (horses help out).
DR trimmers are supposed to be the best. Everything I’ve heard was positive.
Thanks so much for the reply. Have a great day@@RockhillfarmYT
It is kind of ironic that your yellow colored log splitter and generator are not lemons and this black thing........ The weed eater must have a restriction on the fuel or worse problems.
Try some sea foam. Pour a little in tank and run it , fixed mine that sat for a year.
I find my stuff sits outside and the surface of the flywheel rusts. So it won’t create sparks. Remove the cover, and sand the flywheel magneto contact. Not always, but a good thing to check.
ETHANOL treatment by Lucas, green fluid, better than startron. No more ethanol problems. Too bad you’re not in central Florida, we’d have it running in 2 hrs.
I have an old Craftsman version of those walk behind trimmers. It has a 5HP Tecumseh engine on it....probably needs a carburetor cleaning done on it, but its been several years since I've even used it LOL.
have you tried putting oil in it?
I have the Husqvarna version of this walk-behind, too, and it's never been enjoyable to use. Those big wheels make it look easy, but if you have any rocks, branches, lumps or bumps in your path, you end up having to push and pull it to move forward. The spindle on the front catches on things. It's a terrible design that looks good in photos. I'm with ya. It will be on craigslist soon.
Does it have an oil level sensor? It might not be that sophisticated, but even with full oil, those sensors are known to be faulty or of the box. But you have spark...hmmm
I vote crappy carburetors...plastic parts, non adjustable, and the factory may have done a 2 minute run in at the factory, boxed it up in China, shipped it, it sat, and sat, and sat. Home Depot takes receipt, doesn't run it, a couple of nontrained floor associates put bolt A in Hole 1...and there it sits. It's new, right? Not necessarily.
clean the jets inside the carb. Remove the bottom float bowl cover and use a small flat screwdriver to remove the jet insert , and clean out the center with a paper clip then reassemble.
Thank you
I have a toro version and the briggs that came on it blew up so they replaced it with a preditor 173 and it startes sputtering as soon as you get into any tall grass now it doesn't start at all and its a new engine .
You should be able to start it with out pulling the engage handle. There should also be a throttle lever to increase the throttle.
I love you man !! Lol I had a echo weed eater and left it outside more than not and it ran like a scalded dawg for 15 yrs the key is using them often and full bore ! Thats how they roll . I th I nk they are partial to the out doors comin at cha from maintaince central florida boy and beach bum .

The engine speed is too low. You need to adjust the throttle cable at the engine by loosening the cable clamp and pulling the cable out as far as possible before tightening the clamp back. It should sound just like your mower's engine when it's at full speed. In other words the throttle is not opening up all the way.
you should of went with dr power walk behind trimmers i used them for 15 years as a kid on my grandfather farm or any of the walk behind trimmers with honda motors on them its a shame Husqvarna don't make walk behind trimmers and lawn mowers any more hit up your local small lawn mower repair shops to see if you can find a dr or a craftsman walk behind trimmer or a toro time master make a good one so does yard max from homdepot your walk behind trimmer sounds like it has a carbortator issues or you need to adjust your carburetor
I have a Cub Cadet wheeled string trimmer that sits out and usually never takes over 2 to 3 pulls at the worst if I run it out of fuel and try to restart it, But after that 1 pull and it’s running. The Cub is offset to the left for close trimming and will not bog down after destroying cable tv coaxial cable and a air hose because they will wrap around the spindle within a nanosecond and one of the only instances of actually killing the engine other than releasing the handle.
Really the only things that the Cub Cadet will not cut are smaller woody stalks due to the trimmer strings breaking which is totally understandable.
My only wish is that my mower would be self propelled like some of the upper end DR string trimmers are and be able to swap out the string for the brush cutting saw blade. My Cub Cadet was my first experience with the wheeled string trimmers, So this was a learning experience for me.
So sorry to hear about your terrible experience with your trimmer because I would be very angry like you were. My only real concern with my trimmer was the Chinese engine that looks like a knockoff Kohler engine to me, But So Far,So Good.
Other thing is I caught a man putting dirt in a riding lawnmower fuel tank
After checking he had done six engines
It’s on video
I told store manager and he was shocked because this person was buying all the defective equipment cheap
Check the gas. Try a different octane. Adjust the carb. Don't give up. It wants to work.
That's absolutely a fuel issue. It's either got a bad carb, or it needs to be adjusted. Now that you're already almost 500.00 into it, I'd spend the extra 50.00 and order a new carb for it. I don't personally see a need for these "tools" anyway. To me they're "gimmicky" unless you're a disabled person or something like that. To me, a regular string trimmer is more useful.
You should have taken it back and got another. Something in that one is defective. I have the same machine and had it for a year. I haven't used it since last until a day ago. Started right up. I was able to cut nearly three fect tall thick grass and weeds with it shutting off.
I have 2 Toro walk-behind string trimmers they were very similar in price and always start every time also have lots of power for the money.
Ain't nothing more frustrating than when you need a piece of equipment to operate and you waste daylight fiddling with the thing!
out of adjustment Carb. Or Something clogging Jet or air orifice. Or, likely a factory defect in the carb. I purchased a new mower many years ago and it simply wouldn't run with the air filter on. Ended up taking it apart and discovered crude in the carb. Had to be that way from the factory.
Haha - Today is better day only for the Worst equipment 😂
I have a craftsman and I think it is a fabulous tool. Good luck.
I didn’t see all 202 comments that are posted. I might recommend Lucas fuel treatment. I’ve had good luck with cleaning, gunk out of carburetor and carbon from engine.
New engines have a brake in process and you have to change oil sooner
My guess would be the carburetor has junk in it, and the jets are getting clogged! Probably from getting left outside at the store.
IMO, try buying a replacement carb for cheap off of Scamazon. That’s worked for me many times trying to fix a small gas engine…
I don't think that is a Honda engine. The equipment I have with that engine starts first or second pull every time, even after a cold winter.
In my opinion the most frustrating/expensive part about that purchase is the time that you had to waste to try to get it to work. Time is money and I’m frustrated for you that not only you spent $500 to start with but then you spent tons of valuable time that you could otherwise spend working on your business or spending time with your family.
