Hey, I know this comment is from a while back, but I noticed you used the Palestinian flag here, so I’m guessing you’re Palestinian, and I just want to say that I hope you and your family are alright right now. As a Chinese person I appreciate your love for our people. Our people have historically went through what your people are going through, so remember that the Chinese people hold Palestinians dearly in our hearts and stand in solidarity with your struggle for liberation and peace. You are a beautiful and strong people who will absolutely prevail over your oppression ❤🇵🇸

I wonder if Nuo inspired japanese Noh? Noh is obviously more of a story telling theatre experience, and not so much a spiritual thing. But i can see a similarity.
Noh theatre might have inspiration from it. But it mostly inspired Shinto. You can see some of the last few Shinto shrines that practice this ritual that came from China.
Drives away evil spirits and stuff? I can see it doing that. That is straight-up nightmare fuel. If I were the Christian devil himself, I'd take one look at that dance and be like, "Nope. I'm good. Won't be tempting that village over there. I'll go find me a nice priest to tempt."

Different story with theyyam, they dress this way to please the gods, sometimes becoming a medium for the gods to enjoy offerings on earth, or give blessings.
Actually some of the performer or dancer will be posses when in the heat of the performance. From there, they will feel no pain when doing all the stunt, but still need to be cautious, bcs not all Spirit that invited is good one, but experiance shaman and witch doctor will know how to bar away bad spirits and stuff. I think Genshin Impact implemented this dance in the form of their playable character, Xiao
haha, why did I think that too
I thought the mask looked familiar lol
probaly not but you can do some research since genshin is a game created and belonging to a chinese company
@@Zero-vs3dz i think it is since Xiao's burst line in cn is 靖妖傩舞, with 傩舞 being the nuo dance, and his mask is a direct reference of the nuo mask
@@Zero-vs3dzit is, even his design was explained that it is the nuo dance and his burst line in jp and cn says “nuo dance”

Like many old practices, it’s just a superstition and it’s probably just practiced now to keep the culture alive
@@kawaiiskeleton297 i made a rehrorical question. The bubonic killed about 40% of europes population and is credited to slow down and or stop Gengis Kahn advancement
