I like that we are seeing more games that take a "serious" approach to real time strategy and combat, modelling things like sensors and communications, but also aren't spreadsheet simulators. I think a lot of people want something like Command Modern Operations but that gives you more "gamey" elements like visual units, user-friendly menus, so on. But also more complicated than C&C model that's now 30 years old. Check out "Modern Naval Warfare" as well, coming soon apparently.
Modern Naval Warfare really needs to start releasing some information. it seems like development has stalled or the scope of the project changed. CMO is such a good game/sim but it is hard to immerse yourself due to the graphics. I'm excited for Sea Power and I hope it lives up to the hype.
I'm definitely excited about the game. The dynamic campaign is definitely something I'm excited about. Im sure the community will not disappoint when it comes to mission building and mods. To me, it's going to be about the quality of the AI.
I'm always excited for map and scenario editors. I'm sure the campaign will be great though. AI is something developers are always tinkering with, and I know it is something they plan on developing over Early Access.
If I can ever get my hands on this game, I'm going to use the mission editor to recreate some of the best missions from Harpoon Classic 95 and see what they would look like in 3D🙂
@@nardoverso I haven't played DCS in awhile, so I am not sure what is going on in that spere. I was looking forward to the Afghanistan map but I heard it is being released in three parts.
I think there will be plenty of user created scenarios. Command Modern Operations is a smaller game and it has thousands of scenarios and a good portion of them are very detailed.
The units are the big disappointment. No late cold war platforms (Akula, Imp. LA class, etc.), much less planned platforms (Seawolf, etc.) for superweapon scenarios.
I'm sure a lot of the late 80's stuff will eventually find its way, things like Sierra, Akula, Typhoon, mig-31, f-18, some late 80's weapon systems and sensors and much more will certainly appear, the devs won't imposed a hard cutoff, it is probably something temporary until more material is introduced. (Although an official statement to confirm this would be welcome.)

Microprose announced Harpoon Classic 97'
I have never played Harpoon Classic 95
store.steampowered.com/app/3086120/Harpoon_Classic_97/
Looks good, hopefully royal navy, HMS Hermes, type 42s DD etc
Cant wait
I think it will be one of the better games releasing this year.
I think the community will keep us busy with custom campaigns, including multi-part ones - a poor man's campaign mode
@@Marshal_Dunnik i hope we get a ton of amazing creations
There should be a mission generator
It could be something added later depending on community feedback, but it will take extra resources.
@@TacticsWithJoe could be done by modders like briefingroom for dcs and many others for arma 3

No dynamic missions? I better let it cook for a bit.

No Arleigh Burke either. I am hoping these will be released after launch. Probably as a paid DLC, which would be far from ideal.

If cold waters were anything to go by, there’s going to be a ton of mods.
