the switch to 3d is a major quality of life improvement. it's way more efficient to get a good perception of the battlefield and to position units properly than all the tools in ab1

And, I don’t get why their vehicle model of those tracks & wheel are 2D, I thought’s would be better than CM in 3D model, also I saw those trailers, soldier and crew their faces are faceless, even tank itself when they firing HMG, it’s suppose control HMG with animations on it But not that just keep watching Binoculars while using HMG engage unless it’s tell me TC had magic or extra hands to handle the weapon. I mean yeah, I am really expecting that AB2 was better than CMCW in some way and even greater, just still wasn’t at all and some of thing they were displayed are looks weird, I just not get it.

@@nothingnothing8503 you don't understand because you're looking at it from the wrong perspective. AB is not a clone of CM, nor does it aim to portray the same scale. Most of the time, AB is played with the view zoomed out, and the graphics serve more as a bonus rather than a key feature. There wasn’t much benefit in adding suspensions, other than for aesthetic purposes, as it increases the workload. With hundreds of units in game, the more complex a model is, the fewer units can be included-unless, of course, it’s produced by a fully-fledged studio with dozens of artists, like Eugen. Additionally, this also comes with significant performance costs. Similarly, the commander model is there just to give the player a quick indication of whether a unit is suppressed and which direction it’s facing. Again, adding specific vehicle rigs increases complexity, which ultimately means fewer units. So, it was a deliberate choice dictated by necessity.

I’m afraid you’ll be disappointed then - the game (according to the devs, one of whom even responded to a comment on this very subject) isn’t trying to be either. It’s not about fine details such as using a particular vision device, having each crew member explicitly modeled or have suspension react differently to different ground types or accurately simulating fragmentation field. Nor is the infantry modeled with agency of each individual soldier. 3D view is introduced to give players a better representation of what’s going on, that’s all.

Gosh, I hope there is no order delay this time. Order delay is ok for operational game, but AB was mostly tactical and there was no TacAI.
I remember how frustrating it was to watch my tank get into a bad spot and ordering him to reverse one tile to safety got me 90 seconds delay, by then he was toast.
Having order delay only for moving formations or moving single units long distances and no delay for tactical maneuvers would be perfect, but I rather have no delay than the original system.

Lob/Loft bombing interesting but presumably ideal if you want to preserve your aircraft at the expense of accuracy.
Most excited about the command/radio changes, very rare to see this level of detail in a strategy game, we've worked off the system from C&C1 basically forever.
Change to 3D seems far better but mainly it helps so much because line of sight was often highly unintuitive in AB1 ("eh, I can be seen from here?!")
Orders/formations cool, I hope units have some level of automation. Units should be able to take cover and move tactically if given that behaviour but not specific orders.
Interesting to see units can affect the environment (burn trees etc). How deep will that go? I'm glad they went with this low-poly style.
I hope to see a day-night cycle, weather effects, some AB1 scenarios can last several hours ("Who will stop the rain" scenario springs to mind).
I'd like to see modding support for additional units, let the community come up with new units and armies. Very excited for USA faction. 40k total conversion mod? Other periods, counter insurgency, assymetric warfare? I think they need to think of this game more as an engine than a standalone game. This clearly seems a direct evolution and rewrite of AB1, not a "new" game. That's most likely why they're struggling with multiplayer or some of the issues around RNG and time compression.
I think a huge misstep to not include even some form of multiplayer, even if thats a play-by-email style game. Interested to see the Sheridan? Many units and variants would be better than like...10 units per nation.

  • @arkadiy9321

Yep, having helicopters and aircraft in the field looks good and feels realistic, and the timeline seems to have expanded to around the '60s. But to be honest, for me, something is off, regarding some vehicles, the last time they showed the BMP-1P with an AT-5 launcher, it used the BMP-2 internal style to fire. However, in reality, a gunner needs to be exposed to control the launcher and guide the missile, right?
Wasn't the vehicle commander (TC) supposed to lower his head or stop using binoculars when he wanted to use the heavy machine gun (HMG)? And for the M48 or M60, the TC needs to be inside to control the turret for firing the HMG. Why are they still standing up to look through binoculars while being able to engage targets? Unless, Do they have magic hands to control another thing?
Also, if Armored Brigade 2 looks better, and no doubt at that point is outperform Combat Mission (CM) in terms of FPS, then why do the vehicle models’ tracks and wheels look 2D instead of fully 3D? They or maybe someone on a comment claims to look more detailed and great, I ain't denied that, but why isn’t that the case at all? The model angles and shading don’t seem to be the same as reality at all. The texture of the model was a bit blurred, all over at which is good, But no specks of dirt on the track and some parts of the vehicle?
Additionally, what’s happening with the infantry under fire? They’re just walking alongside the vehicles without shooting at all. And where are the soldier's or crew members' faces? Why do they look like a slender man? Is it either a person without faces or faceless figures?
Don’t get me wrong, but what’s up with the end of the video scene showing the cover art? The M60 tanks and their M19 cupolas are shown on the left side, but not on the right. Everyone seems to be rushing toward the centre while an M48 Chaparral is placed too close to the combat zone for anti-aircraft duty. What’s going on?
In Armored Brigade 1, the original game and DLC featured cover art showing T-72s advancing in the field, demonstrating distance and range engagement between tanks, troop deployment, and helicopter support, by which point it's better. But this? What is happening?
[I don’t know what you’ll say to me; it probably won’t matter. Maybe someone will accuse me of being a spy from the BF (Battlefront) game, trying to mess with your moods, or perhaps someone just wants to kill me because I didn’t fully support AB2. I will dare to tell you, I never been send by sake of anyone else, I had no intention to destroy you all their moods about want to try the AB2 and Again, it probably won’t matter. I’m just saying what I want to say and pointing out issues. I like the AB series, but for now, I’m not going to be like those who rush to buy it as soon as it’s released. I’ll wait until they fix some of the logical issues or get a proper review and prove reliable at that point.]

You are looking for Combat Mission and Graviteam Tactics-like details, but just because you now have a 3-d battlefield, it does not mean you get physics, ballistics, individual crew behaviors, explicit modeling of sights, etc. The biggest update outside of the 3-d is the modeling of information sharing/command hierarchy. Devs themselves stated, they aren’t gunning for CM or GT, it’s a different type of experience

    • @vonscheer5850
      @vonscheer5850 3 месяца назад +1

AB2 3D is mostly there for better battlefield readability, not making screenshots of soldiers moustached faces. I doubt you would really zoom in into individual tank's dirt patched tracks regularly in the game for devs to allocate resources in more fancy graphics. Instead of nitpicking, one could point out the problems with order delay, for example.
