This video is misleading for anyone with super slime model of PS3. At the beginning he state it works for every model, but at the middle of the video he state that Super Slim wont play PSP games and at the very end he goes saying Super Slim won't be playing PS2 either! I was literally doing this for hours to play PS2 but man what a load of BS of wasting my time. I already have Vita so PS2 was the only thing i wanted to work

Generally love your content, but using a PS3 superslim in the thumbnail is SUPER misleading, considering Ps2 games don't even work on any superslim model. Please change the thumbnail, the only reason I clicked was because I saw it, but ended up just wasting my time.
Gutted because after all that messing about it still doesn’t allow you to play ps2 titles on a Superslim. I thought this was a work around that. It really needs to be pointed out in the video from that start like he said about psp games.
Old post, I know.... I'm sure I read somewhere that the original playstation had the PS2 chip In it, to make it backwards compatible with PS2, but not later ones. I'd imagine you'd need the original mk1 playstation to play PS2 games properly.

They don't work out of the box on PS3's that aren't backwards compatible. On my superslim on 4.90 fw, I installed HFW/PS3Hen, Multiman and Webman, not Managunz, fwiw. In order to get them to work, you need to encrypt them using PS2 Classics Manager (or Apollo Save Tool works as well I think, but I used the former), and then use PS2 Classics Placeholder to launch them. Put your game iso's in PS2ISO, create and assign two PS2 memory cards named MC1 & MC2 in "Memory Card Utility" (only needs to be done once), load up PS2 Classics Manager, find the iso in the PS2 Game List, click on Triangle for the extended menu and then click on "Encrypt PS2 .ISO / .BIN". You can then delete the unencrypted ISO, it's no longer needed. Once you have your games encrypted, they'll show up in Webman Games under PS2 Games (may need to refresh the games list within Webman settings and reload XMB first). Click on the game you want to play, and it will be loaded to the PS2 Classics Placeholder. Click on that to launch the game.

I'm using HEN on my ps3 slim 3000 series and I already have multiman, managunz and file manager so I downloaded the Europe region ps2 iso games because I'm from Australia and I did everything this video told me to do but the ps2 iso wouldn't format into a disc, it said the ps3 isn't compatible with the ps2 on the home screen when I press "x" on the unsupported data and on managunz it said "you are not using a ps2 configuration file '*CONFIG'. somebody please give me hints on what I did wrong.
Didn't work for me on ps3 HEN, the only way to play ps2 games on Ps3 HEN is to convert them into PKS's, if you have a ps3 on CFW then you run can ps2 ISO's

I followed all the steps and everything works great except for the psp games. I don't know why but they are not showing up in my webman games like it is on the video.
I just figured out what I had to do. My web man and psp remastered wasn't recognizing my games so I reinstalled them and then the games were there. Still kinda weird that happened though.

That's a very valuable and sought after PS3 you have there. Nice! So, even with one of the backwards compatible PS3s, to play PS3 backups, you'll need to either install customer firmware - a jailbreak (recommended) - or PS3HEN to play PS2 games from USB. But yes, it can absolutely do jus that once you've modded that system.
Thank you for the tutorial! I have (2) PS2 ISOs that I am having trouble playing. NBA Streets Vol 2 & NBA Hoopz they both run but in slow motion. Do you know of any setting I can adjust? All my other ISOs run fine.
Loved this tutorial! By far the easiest to understand. My only question would be, where is you preferred place to get the games? When the file folders were transferred over to the PS3 HDD, the game files were already in there. Would love if this step was added in the future, alongside how to add/delete others. Cheers!

Well duh. Only a couple models of ps3 even have the ps2 hardware in them so why would you be able to use a disk on a system without the proper guts.
