Regardless! First time working on a snow day here in Seattle, here’s how it went. ⛄️

I’d love to deliver in “winter” conditions like that, every day! Here in northern Canada it is so dangerous, today ice fog and then more snow. Roads are slick ice and residential streets are not plowed so many are just 1 lane tracks. The heater never keeps up with constant opening and closing of the doors. Add to this misery it is dark most of the day but now mid March there is more daylight finally. So why? Hey man, it’s an adventure every day! And I can eat high calorie foods to stay warm. Carry that box boy!

I actually loved delivering in the snow in the suburbs of Chicago. It was a nightmare but also fun at the same time. Having snowball fights before load out and leaving snow on the windshield so if you passed another driver, we could throw a snowball from the driver seat

I always look in the window of EDVs when I see them wondering if you’re the driver. Thanks for representing Seattle and Rivians so well!

I have a nissan leaf, and it was pretty affordable for me. I don't know what your needs are, but for me it's a great hatchback! I'm sure the e-golf is a neat car too. :) Did you notice any extra mile-degradation (less range than if it wasn't snowy / cold out) with the EDV?
Also looking at a Leaf! My only concern is battery life on some of those older used models, but it was my second pick after the egolf!
Didn’t notice a range difference on the EDV but it actually warmed up a little bit so I don’t know if this was a great test day. If we get another cold one I’ll let you know!
My DSP i used to work for didn't have any Mercedes vans, so never really got to deliver in them. What's it like driving the Mercedes van compared to Transits and Promasters?
I haven’t actually driven one yet either! Maybe this week I’ll try to take one out, I’m curious now!

Thankfully I live in a safe neighbourhood (west end) and smaller building (about 15 units). Haven't had anything ever stolen, often have things just left at my door. Someone's Fresh Prep from 3 days ago is still sitting in the lobby...
That’s good! Yeah we usually don’t have to worry about stuff getting stolen but it does happen!

@@FridayAdventureClub That was 3 feet of new snow. On top of the 4 feet that was there before. It is unusual but not unheard of.
@@douglasficke6316 the problem when it snows in Seattle is there are a lot of streets that are just too steep to get up or down safely even with just a couple inches on the ground.
@@craigcampbell1843 Oh, I get it. Especially if it turns to ice. Basically impossible. At my DSP we have been fighting for all terrain tires for a long time. We finally have 6 promasters that have them on the front wheels. I guess I'm just tired of calling for tow trucks or sending out our "Wescue Wagon'" (jeep gladiator) to go pull drivers out.
Is anyone else waiting for their delivery driver DSP 3 days training right now? I have been waiting for a couple weeks now to get sign up for a class?

Oh my! 1st again. I need a life!. We get way more snow in Toronto and we have the largest fleet of electric buses and we have ordered 300 more. The range sucks on cold and hot days. Also my garage has the Protera electric bus and it sucks. When we 1st got then the bus would stay out for 14 hours but now just for 6 hours. I test drove one on the highway and the are faster than our diesel buses. Top speed 103kph.
Wow! That battery drain is no joke, I wonder if theres a warranty or anything for that. Sounds like fun though!

Awesome video Stuart. You and your video made my day, thank you. You said your DSP is closed on Sundays. I thought that you worked for your DSP on Sundays. Did I misunderstand? May I suggest a Toyota Corolla or Camry gas or hybrid as your next car. Not an EV. Maybe an EV for your next next car. It's a thought.
Thanks! I think I said my DSP owner closes on Sunday (like he’s at the desk when I get back!) so I always get like 50 snacks😂 I may go Camry hybrid if I can find a decent one. Now that it’s getting nicer I may just stick to the bus too, we’ll see!
