Thanks. Starts from nothing, goes straight to basics instead of overwhelming with weird detail, doesn't take an age, demonstrates everything quickly. Lots of confusing Niagara guides out there but this isn't one of them.
Thank you for starting from an empty emitter and breaking down each section. Many other tutorials start form a template and gets confusing very fast. I learned so much from this one video.
These are the best tutorials out there in my opinion! I've watched nearly all of the playlist now. One great addition in my opinion would be setting up a couple basic Niagara Module scripts if you are ever up for that. Thanks so much for putting these together!
this. is. sooo. freaking. helpful and informative. Really man, best tutorial pasing and focal points I ever seen. And I learned vfx from zero by youtube tutorials.
@@gamedevoutpost9270 So the only way I'm guessing it's to expose the location values and use them in blueprint to animate or follow something that will trail the motion.
This was amazing helpful! The only thing it could improve is that some times you click on stuff too fast LOL I have to go back and to see what you did multiple times. "I can barely see his moves!"
Hmm, cannot seem to add a second "add velocity", the second being the one for "Particle Update > Add Velocity." in 4.27. But, this is just a note - sure I'll figure it out as I continue your tutorials !
Just writing this in case someone else comes across issues with the velocity. I fixed it by adding a 'solve Forces and Velocity' node after the 'add velocity' node in the particle update section. This seemed to remove all errors and get the particles moving.
I'm on UE5, when I try to add velocity/forces, my particle does not move; and it is playing, it just spawns particles and starts to get brighter, but no velocity is demonstrated
For some reason I only get the green bar if I turn on "Loop Delay" or if I start with a template, but even then the green bar spans the entire timeline regardless of what the loop duration is.
Hi There! I'm on UE 4.26.1 and wondering why the size of my particle is bigger than yours? I tried to add the size sprite scale but the particular is disappear... any clue?
one quick question, I open the Niagara system but when I try to edit it, there is no system overview window, I don't even have the first menu when selected the Niagara, please help and my version is 4.19 btw
Hi, I have a problem with the timeline, I'm on 4.26. I don't have a green bar on the timeline, only if the LoopBehavior in the EmitteState module has multiple, and then the loop delay is enabled, on the rest it writes: Failed to add module EmitterState to section of type MovieSceneNiagaraEnwtterSection. Message: Failed to bind 'num loops' for module. Message: Could not find the default pin for this input in the source graph, it may be hidden by a static switch. I don't know how to fix. Please help me
There are times I will into errors and either by closing and reopening the Niagara windows will do it or restarting the engine. This isn't an error I've ran into yet. It may be a pain, but worst case you may need to uninstall and reinstall the engine.
Great tutorial but, how to use Niagara with ray tracing translucency? When I change it from raster to ray tracing, the alpha looks black and the texture is noisy. It seems impossible to have a Niagara system rendering correctly in a ray trace scene. What am I missing? Is there a way to exclude it from the ray tracing translucency?
@@gamedevoutpost9270 Jesus I must have been tired 😂 No clue how I missed that, thanks. Went thru like 10 tutorials yesterday. I have never learned so much yet so little in my entire life lol it’s gonna take years to learn and remember everything
half the video is about how to use the basic UI, which should be clear in the first place, but yea, otherwise its relatively ok. Could be cut down to 8mins imo

Great introduction! Thank you for creating this tutorial for those new to this awesome feature.
very good explanation
Thanks for making this excellent starter!
Great tutorial thanks!
As a Note: If you turn Local Space on, this will stop trailing. When Local Space is off, your particles will trail.
Is it possible to make them trail while in local space?
@@fish3010 No

Try "Particle Update > Acceleration Force".

Thank you very much for this.... do you have a patreon ? If not you should.
thnx
I guess by 4.27 there's been a lot of changes.
Hello, I'm new at this; The SYSTEM OVERVIEW window does not appear; how can i open it?
Hi There! I'm on UE 4.26.1 and wondering why the size of my particle is bigger than yours? I tried to add the size sprite scale but the particular is disappear... any clue?
In initialize particle you need to set the size to uniform

4.19 Niagara was still in beta at the time, I believe it may not of been there. It is only appears in the Niagara System.
How the hell do you change the Particle Spawn Group so that they don't spawn in a box ?

Unfortunately I do not know. I haven't dived into ray tracing yet. I will look into it though.
Anyone know why my background on the left is a school instead of just a black background? lol
At about 3:50 in you can see how to change your background.
