      Wonderful to hear! Yes, there's a desperate need to get more VFX artists trained to fill the open jobs at the studios, so we wanted to open things up a bit with that free course. Glad you're able to get started on your journey!

    Great lesson, I find Niagara much less confusing then Cascade. I wasn't aware about how important the texture of the particle is. Up to now I am just using the default square cards for blood and muzzle flash, but would like to experiment more with textures.

    Hi, love your tutorials and principles videos! Follow throughed this one and loved the simplicity of it, but I have an issue of when I try to not make the circles pop in and out, and have a smooth fade, Scale Color opacity seems to not do anything, and it's still very poppy

    Just a simple question here. I've followed the tutorial using the current version of UE (I believe is 5.4.2) and so far, there were very few interface differences. However I still got in doubt if I did anything wrong or if this is just some kind of not shown configuration for the software but, this kind of "bloom" effect at the particles you created was something missing here when I did it. Like, they were identical in colour and basically everything else, just lacking those highlights. It's just a minor thing, but I was wondering if this was an automatic thing that was changed in more recent versions or if I missed something. Great tutorial btw!

    I see so many videos of Niagra despawn actor effect but there are so very little on spawn your character in, on UE5.
    No one shows how to create the effect that you could see from a 3rd person character spawning in on your level.
    Any ideas?

    Is Niagara the new method of stylized effects? People don't use scrolling textures?

    Good thing they labelled the speed "Velocity Speed" or no one would know what they meant. Imagine if they had just put "Velocity." Or "Speed."

    hey i was wondering how could i make that kind of texture u used?

    • @VFX_Apprentice
      @VFX_Apprentice  5 месяцев назад

      Greetings!
      This texture actually consists of two parts. One is the outside ring, which you can easily create by using the shape tool, you can use an eraser and a soft smudge brush to add details and make it more interesting. Then you can add the light rays to the texture by using a soft brush, the smudge tool, and quite a bit of Gaussian Blur.
      Also, this exact texture was made by Ali Sorensen in Krita, during the Intro to Hand-Painted Textures series, along with other ones! The series itself is available with an All Access subscription, you can check out the brief course breakdown here: www.vfxapprentice.com/courses/hand-painted-textures-stylized-fx

    Is it possible to use the Niagara FX on web?

    • @VFX_Apprentice
      @VFX_Apprentice  Год назад

      To edit FX, you'll need to install the Epic Games launcher and then download Unreal Engine 5. If you're asking about publishing, Unreal Engine is best for console, PC, or mobile games.

      @@VFX_Apprentice It just seems like nearly every step I need to try to look for a different way to do it. And that gets frustrating.

      And since it is all basically one project, if I cannot figure one of the steps out, I feel like I cannot really continue the tutorial because I cannot continue to build on a level of a building for example, if I am not doing the floor that I need to build over it properly. So not only do I get upset that I cannot finish the tutorial, but also that I already spent so much time on it. Even though the whole tutorial is only around 20 minutes it takes me hours to get halfway through it.
      I guess I am learning the stuff up to the point that I am not able to figure out, but it still makes me want to put my fist through my screen sometimes.
