This concert is 17 months (less than a year and a half) after they first played together. 2 Albums released and playing this tight live. They performed 'Whole Lotta Love' for the majority of their career (mainly as an encore). This 1970 recording is very good. The performance of 'Whole Lotta Love' we all know from 1973 Madison Square Garden is roughly twice as long and has excellent footage of Jimmy performing his magic on the theremin with call/response with Robert Plant. Some other surprises in there for you, Verdy. Whether you post a reaction to it or do it on your own time, it is a must watch (among many others). Thank you for the reaction, and look forward to seeing your socks get knocked off when you listen to LZ IV. tc

Robert was powerful masculine vast range accrobatic vocalist setting standard for hard rock and metal screamers. I was awed when I first heard Zeppelin in early 70's on Black Dog and instantly attracted to him. I later discovered that the other band members were masters on their instruments. What a rare and great combination. The chemistry among them were amazing.

This was January 9th, 1970. I saw them perform this song April 8, 1970 in Dorton Arena, Raleigh, NC. when I was 17. The best concert to this day that I ever saw. That puts them above Jimi Hendrix, Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top, Allman Brothers Band, Jethro Tull and many others. 10 years later the band broke up after the accidental death of the band's drummer, John Bonham.

You really should do an album reaction of "News of the World" by Queen. One of the best albums ever. The inside (centerfold, so to speak) artwork is my favorite of any album too. It's a robot reaching through a hole in the roof of an auditorium or stadium, about to grab a handful of people. I love it I'm sure you've heard "We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions", but the rest of the album is even better. Give it a listen. I think you'll love it too.

Miss Verdy, the thing to realise is that Robert Plant was only 21 years old when that concert took place yet he had a stage presence and vocal control of someone at least 10 years older. Jimmy Page was 26 but had been one of the absolute top session guitarists in London, John Paul Jones was 24, with a reputation for being able to play anything that had strings as well as being one of the "go to guys" for arrangements, and then we had the one and only John Henry (Bonzo) Bonham who was almost 22 and relatively unknown outside of his Midlands base but became the defining rock/blues drummer of his age (along with two Londoners of minor note, Ginger Baker of Cream and Pete Townsend of The Who). The entire band had a repertoire and "tightness" that groups who'd been together for 10 to 15 years strived for, mostly failing. I remember listening to them for the first time in 1969, as a teenager, and just being blown away, I got goosebumps down my spine from the experience and I think, from your facial expressions during that performance, that you would have had an absolute blast had you been around then too - the down side is that you'd now be in your 60s and that would never do, as we'd all be denied the undeniably vicarious thrill of seeing someone of your generation exhibit the same emotions, reactions and pure, unadulterated joyous enjoyment of Led Zeppelin (and some other bands and artists of that era) in the same way that so many of us had upon our first hearings, over 50 years ago (a psychiatrist would call it "confirmation bias" but, let us not quibble about terminology).

At 2:40 you mention the guitar distortion. That high pitch guitar sound is called feedback. It's caused when the sound of the guitar comes from the amp and back into the guitar pickup, which goes to the amp and then back into the guitar pickup, repeatedly, which creates a "feedback loop". The frequencies are building on themselves, through 'sympathetic vibration'.
Not trying to correct you, just trying to help you build your understanding of the music. Guitar feedback can be a beautiful thing, and is a big part of live guitar playing. The guitar always wants to break into feedback when turned up loud, but it can be controlled, to great effect.
I think you would really love to hear (and see) Pink Floyd's preformance of their song Sorrow from the live Pulse show. David Gilmour has a very powerful guitar part in the intro. You can hear the guitar breaking into feedback, going from the low E note that he plays, to a much higher note that David does not play, but is controlling.
Sorry if this explanation doesn't make too much sense. But Sorrow from Pulse is fire!

    Dear Lady
now I am a 62 years german. My father had on of the first tape recorders in my neighbourhood. There was a radio station every wednesday only for 45 Minitues . And the host was ALWAYS talking into the last 30 seconds into the song. Still it was the only way for us so we recorded every single second of this song. Hiding in my grandma 's garden behind some bushes we went crasy about this music. Didnt understand a single word.My father called it n... music. Still every week we met and i kissed my first girlfriend ❤❤

It's amazing how so many people across the generations who love the Beatles also love Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin and a few other classic rock groups like the Who, Kinks and Cream, especially since some of these groups tended to play very different kinds of rock music, but it was all GOOD rock music that has aged extremely well. I've heard some disparage it as "Dad Rock", but only if dad was a really cool dad (not mine, alas).
It was also honest music, from the heart and soul and not just intended to sell maximal records, just like the music it was all based on, the blues, along with early country, R&B and folk. One other band I'd include in this category (among others too many to name) is the Allman Brothers, who for some reason most music reactors aren't covering these days, but those guys could ROCK.

Reactors often have to modify videos to keep YT from blocking them. Some videos of LZ's performances at Madison Square Garden in '73 have been completely taken down by Warner Media. It's frustrating for reactors to put in so much time but can't post their reactions because the video they use ends up getting blocked by RUclips, so many just modify the video from the start to avoid getting into a hassle with RUclips trying to prove they're not making any money off the video.

Beautiful groove in the song, a classic. Of course, everyone understands what it's about (all adults). Like most pop, rock. blues songs are about: sex and love in all its forms.
    "A-way, way down inside
I'm gonna give ya my love
I'm gonna give ya every inch of my love
I'm gonna give ya my love"
