I grew up there and left in 1990 when I was 19 years old, I've only been back to visit a few times since. Cobb's was a decent family restaurant in the 1980s when I hung out there with friends. It was a good alternative to the Denny's and I believe was a 24 hour restaurant back then as well. It wasn't great food, but was on par with chain restaurants like Denny's. I believe one of the small buildings in back was an art/jewelry shop and the other a law office in the 1980s. The Nail Salon you also looked at was a record store back in the 80s. As a young teenager I rode my bike into town and went there quite often. It's sad to see the shape that those buildings and that city are in now.
@GaslitWorld f. Melissa B I mean no offense by this, but that really surprises me, I thought Detroit was pretty shitty. I've never been there but your comment actually surprised me
I grew up in Mesa (unfortunately) and we always called it Apache Junktown. That’s what it was and still is. Trailers and junk. I remember Cobb’s, ate there a few times and it was decent. I live in Indiana now but I remember driving through AJ and it was so depressing. Great video though.
Have you been back in like, the last 10 years? It's not that great, but there's been some construction and there's less shirtless tweakers. I grew up out there
Indiana yep, no meth heads there, and it's just one beautiful state where the people are wonderful and there are amazing stores wherever you go. The air is so pure in Indiana, and all of the Indiana people's waste flows out of the state so there is never any stink. You are so lucky to live there, you must be an amazing person to be picked to live in such a wonderful state. How can I get so lucky to live there, where can I apply?
Cobb's was the most disgusting place in the world, it's a good thing it closed! Went in there about 10 years ago and there was a big dead fly on top of the napkin dispenser and we immediately left and never went back!
Just moved from Apache last year and your right about the reviews on the establishment, so it doesn't surprise me that they closed the restaurant! Thanks for the video!
Remember Cobbs well. Lived in AJ from 1986-1996. Used to sell every season at the swap meet at the dog track. Cobbs was busy back then, diner food at decent prices. It was packed with snowbirds every winter for just that reason, particularly for the great breakfast, and there was always a group of us vendors there for happy hour after we packed up at the swap meet. Sad to see it went downhill so fast, but nothing lasts if you don’t pay attention to it.
I miss finding these kind of places. The city I live in has become gentrified & expensive so they have torn most of this stuff down in city & suburbs as the property has value it didn’t 10-20 years ago.🤮🤮
WOW!!! I lived in AJ from 2009-2010! I used to live in a duplex on Winchester Road and would ride my 99' Softail there, park under the pavilion part and eat ALL the time. There used to be a bar attached to back side of it, that you could access from the restaurant. The food at that time was EXCELLENT! So was the HOT waitress I used to hit on! LOL!!!!! I also read an ENTIRE book about Doc Holiday during my times in there eating etc. Really liked this place......the people that worked there then were AWESOME! I liked to shit when I saw this! Thanks for the footage.....good times. Patrick P.S "Arizona Joe's" was only 2 block down from where I lived. They used to have "Bike Night" every Saturday. Was there a LOT as well! Patrick
Final Fantasy 3 (or 6 in Japan) music. The intro when Terra is walking towards Narshe with the Magitek armor and some soldiers. Those were the days. The Shadow music. Brother this is a trip down memory lane. All FF3 music awesome.
Everything in this video is no more. All the structures have been torn down and the land scraped clean. A Dutch Bros Coffee is now sitting on the corner where Cobbs used to be. The rest is still vacant land waiting for development.
The sign by the road was cool. But I really like the doors on the front of the restaurant. They had, classy look to them. Seems like if someone took this building over that they can still make something out of it. After all they would have to do a lot of work to the restaurant that started in remodeled for the most part.
That whole areas is gone now. The built a Dutch Bros, pretty much leveled the land, removed all the concrete then rebuilt the whole area from scratch. I live not far from there.
Howdy! Recent subscriber...love the work you do! Curious...what song are you playing during the video...definitely fits the mood perfectly! Keep up the awesome work!
Jenny’s has a facebook page. Looks like they were still at this location in november of 2016, pics of people inside show the window with the name and outside show that native art gallery building in the background. So not that long ago.
lol I saw what you mention. Nice try but it would have to be a kid with a really tiny arm, that did a really good job of not moving at all, not a chance that's a human, sorry.
Lots of cool videos. You should check out Sunvalley mall in Concord California. I think it's still doing ok, but not sure. Haven't lived in the bay area since 1997. Keep up the great work. Cheers from surprise Arizona.😎
Cobb's was definitely nasty, I went once or twice when I moved there, 6 or 7 years ago, and never again. I didn't even know it was torn down. The only place nastier than Cobb's, was Scuttlebutt's down the street, which is also gone / something else now. I liked looking up the reviews on SB because there was always one old Karen that would respond to every review "wull I like the lobster ravioli!" lol
I hate when human toxic waste tag places. Looks like hell. Plus the copper theives. I do like watching videos of copper theives getting zapped 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 like bugs
@Real Dudes Party Nude supposably the land that it sits on the two houses behind it all that land I know the people that live in the house behind Mickey D's Cafe and it was up for sale I don't know if it fell through or what but they were going to be getting kicked out because all of that property was up for sale and there was a deal going through but I don't know if it ever did or not
Old and abandoned restaurants look so bizarre
Btw-I just found your channel and subbed. Now I gotta binge watch all your videos.

I wish people did not vandalize old buildings.

People have done this since ancient times. It's why the pyramid makers put in traps.
Only trash does that.
Great use of final fantasy music! They fit in great

I lived in AJ for years (in a new neighborhood) and I would always say I lived in East Mesa cause everyone assumed I ran a trailer meth lab! Lol
Ron B I know, right!

It’s a lot better now compared to 6 years ago
Huge fan of your channel. Love that you give history and insight to all these old and or failing places. Keep up the great work!

wow that sky
Bro, Cobbs used to have the BEST breakfasts. I remember I stopped going just because the atmosphere seemed to change sharply.

That old Cobb's building is completely demolished now. That whole property was leveled shortly after you filmed this.

The whole place was recently torn down. It's all dirt now.
the parking lot paint looks decently fresh
I just discovered this channel and seeing these abandoned plazas and buildings up close is so interesting. Basically modern day ruins!
My husband says the restaurant was originally a Stuckeys. All those buildings are gone and Dutch Bros built there few months ago.

Thanks for the tour.
Went to the location earlier today, can confirm it is no more.
My mom work old building restaurant long time ago. But is gone.

6:26 that sink look decently modern, it couldn't have been been close that long ago.

I swear there was someone in the retail building, I saw a sillowtte and it really creeped me out
I wrote a book called Spirits In The Mountain inside Cobbs restaurant and it was published 2008.

Anyone else catch that silhouette of a person at 5:48??
Your ugly
lol I saw what you mention. Nice try but it would have to be a kid with a really tiny arm, that did a really good job of not moving at all, not a chance that's a human, sorry.
I grew up near here. Not even 5 minutes from here. Didn't really ever notice this building tbh
The restaurant was demolished a few years ago. Was a dirt lot for a while, now it’s a Dutch brothers.
The insides do look in good condition, even with the squatting.
Update, this place has been torn down and is going to be a Dutch bros
I guess I can be the one to say this. Since the comments are enabled again.
First!
I'm jealous of your Zelda shoes. T^T
I went there once back in like 2011 or 2012.
Lots of cool videos. You should check out Sunvalley mall in Concord California. I think it's still doing ok, but not sure. Haven't lived in the bay area since 1997. Keep up the great work. Cheers from surprise Arizona.😎
Yea great music really fits the mood! FF6 best Final Fantasy!
Jenny's can't have been closed very long, it has a 480 number. We got these crazy area codes in 1999. Before that everything was 602.
You do realize 1999 was 21 years ago don't you??
This place closed in either late 2018 or mid 2019

Still power to these places. Meters still there. I wonder why?
The music was too perfect.
Nice FF music
Michael Pollack has entered the chat
I’ve had a share of 3 am meals at cobbs. Fist fights between drunken cowboys spilling into your booth. Good riddance.
I used to eat there I forgot it existed. In in the the big city mesa now!
The place ain't that old. I was raised in Apache junction
I hate when human toxic waste tag places. Looks like hell. Plus the copper theives. I do like watching videos of copper theives getting zapped 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 like bugs
Your videos are so nostalgic and interesting to look at. You do amazing work, thank you!! :)
Wearing Zelda shoes while playing FF3/6 BMG......

You're in a Portal 2 map!
Sorry I can not follow your page cuz having music while you talk makes it hard for me to hear your voice.
That's a bummer. I love music and would be bummed out if I couldn't hear the lyrics in songs because of the music.
*I'm thinking about moving to AJ from San Jose to that nice eastern area of relatively expensive homes. Comments/ advice?*
NO!
If you work from home do it. It’s a beautiful area but a long work commute.
Is that listing the same owner as Mickey D's Cafe if so I heard that that was all sold or in the process of being sold
