The video I mentioned at the end of this one is now out on my 2nd channel:

"You're a powerful tool!" 🤣🤣🤣
Thrifting Time Is always the best time.
Amen.
In honor of the retiring Marv Albert, 'YESSSSSSSSSSS!'
The SE Asian in me recognized that rice dispenser right away. It’s actually a staple in a lot Asian houses, especially when rice is their main dish. I definitely remember having it in my house when I was a kid. We’d buy a sack of rice and we’d pour it inside the dispenser.
Lol same!!! Knew exactly what that was.
Take a shot everytime he says "Earthlink"
e a r t h l i n k, a phrase nobody has used since 2002.
I'm so glad you played the video professor. I know how to internet now. I'm not even sure how I found your videos without it
That medallion on the mug is for yer tea bag!
Thank you! I'm a coffee drinker but I don't really drink tea 🙂
When I go to the thrift stores in my city they never seem to have decent electronics sections, most interesting thing I found was a record player that also plays cassettes and an old printing calculator
Ned Flanders would be pissed at that Minne Mouse mug.
God seeing old MS stuff makes me feel nostalgic even stuff I never grew up with
3m Bookcase games were absolutely a thing. I have a few on my shelf, that were given to me by my father in law who had an extensive collection of those and Avalon Hill's bookcase games. You should also keep your eye out for games by Yaquinto, they published theirs in album/LP gatefold style covers. The counters and rules were in the sleeve, and the gatefold showed the playing board.
The price tag on the video professor software is from Fry's Electronics
Yup. Not a Best Buy label…..enslaved/worked at Best Buy late 90’s through mid 2010’s.
Yep!!! frys
we had a rice dispenser that large growing up! it can fit an entire bag of rice in it. The measurements of the levers are serving sizes, not usually cups, since you need less than a cup of dry rice to make 1 cup of cooked rice
Video Professor! Yes we finally found his product AND TRIED IT!!!
These videos are super relaxing!
he's got a great voice
They're so good. No loud, annoying music and no shouting.
Another great video! Can't wait till we continue to explore *The Internet* on RA2.
Wish my local Goodwill had as big a media section as the ones in your area. It’s big, but their entire media section is just all on one little end cap shelf. DVDs, CDs, video games and all.
The background music is oddly reminiscent of the Goodwill scenes in Napoleon Dynamite.
Going to Goodwill and looking around is one of my most favorite things. It's always different each visit.
Would love to see a collab with LGR.
Oh boy, almost 20 mins of thrifting time. What a treat!
I like thriftin'. But stores gettin' more & more inline w/ "eBay pricin'" is makin' many bargains a thing of the past!
Yeah
"You're a powerful tool" had me dying XD I'm definitely looking forward to seeing your video on that program
The backup tapes. LOL I throw those away soooo often when cleaning out deprecated server rooms. Thats hilarious.
I bet the special part of that DVD player was the VCD part, VCD's were very popular with karaoke over in Japan.
A good chunk of Asia in fact, same for VCD movies, as VHS/Beta did not do as well in their more humid climates, and would start to break down, and mold faster, and the per cost of the media was cheaper too boot.
I think most DVD players have legacy support for MPEG-1 and then VCD, it was just never advertised and hardly a selling point.
@@amerigocosta7452 I have a small collection of VCD anime, and you would be surprised how many DVD, and even Blu-Ray players I've come across over the years that won't play VCD movies, because as DVD got cheaper many companies took that feature out here in the US to save cost since most people here in the US have no idea what a VCD is, and did not get their first disc based movies till DVD.
@@amerigocosta7452 I forgot to mention something, if you want a Blu-Ray player(not 4K UHD) that will play VCD, and even upscale, and zoom them correctly so they look better on a 16:9 HDTV look for Philips models, as I've had good luck with my Philips BDP2900/F7 model I've had for several years I found at a Goodwill.
Growing up. My family had the same Rice dispenser in the kitchen. I think every Asian family I knew had one in the house. I used to spend so much time playing with it pouring rice and putting it back.
My parents have a similar rice dispenser in their pantry, it’s not as snazzy with the wood, it’s plastic, but very convenient when you want to cook rice.
I always enjoy Thrifting Time. So very interesting what unique stuff or junk you find in thrift stores. I am looking forward to seeing more these videos in the near future.
I’m a donation attendent at a goodwill in the Chicago area and all the rly good stuff we get in is sold online 💀
I definitely want to see more of that internet cd. Especially the history of the internet.
Love these thrifting videos, thanks for sharing...
Now that the 'verse is getting back to normal, I can't wait to get back to thrifting/antiquing. These videos have been good fun during the $#!+storm known as 2020. Thx bub.
I love thrifting time!
Awesome to see something from Sauder in that Thrift store. I live in Archbold Ohio where those are manufactured.
My parents bought a Beta VCR just like that in 1979. Almost 10 years later, I got a part time job working at a VCR repair shop. The only one of those really old "dinosaurs" I worked on was one I got at Goodwill. I did get it working, but the things are huge.
Please note for those curious that although KZON-FM is still around, the frequency with that callsign is currently at 103.9; the version at 101.5 lasted between 1992 and 2016 (going through a number of different format changes in the process) and now is under the KALV-FM moniker.
For rice dispenser, last button said continue in Korean. Each number before represent how many cup it can dispense.
Also the karaoke player said Arirang which is a South Korean television network. A Korean person decluttering their home around that area? hehe
Nice video, I remember the AOL discs that were always in your mailbox. Love the thrift videos.
Peace Luke T
“You’re a powerful tool!”
I did a quick google search I think Nikko still makes the rice containers?! Don't know that I'm in the market for one that holds *that* much, but neat to see anyway. had a good laugh at the bonus segment with that 'how to use PCs' Video Professor thing, LOL! (can't wait for that in-depth review, haha!!) love the videos keep up the great work!!
5:24. It’s for rice. Damn that is so nostalgic, I remember. We’re Filipino so that much rice makes sense.
‘You’re a powerful tool’ cracked me up
Such cool finds.
And The video professor.
Speaking of old board games I found an Uno Deluxe deck from 1978 and it had all the stuff to it including the score pads and pencils
Great video!! I called that number for Sauder and it’s still the company product line
Twixt is actually a pretty good game if you like abstract thinky ones (I’m bad at most of those). If you’re not able to find a boxed copy, it can be played with graph paper and pencils.
In Houston most dvd and games at Goodwill had the discs behind the counter. When I lived there.
That first goodwill is right next to my house! I've been there probably 100 times the last 2 years, even scored a super Nintendo for $20 like a year back.. good times
Yes!! More thrifting time! I would definitely watch more of the ‘powerful tool’ on your 2nd channel! 😂
That Back Office Server jewel case has a SICK tribal tattoo on it!
I ADORE thrifting time!!!!! Xxx
It’s always fun to go into a thrift store and find some treasures.
This has become my favorite of all the "dead mall" channels.
100% right on Sauder and Kmart. I can't tell you how much Sauder furniture I sold while working there. Surprisingly sturdy for how cheap it was.
Should have been a disclaimer before the video at the end. Haha. First time I legit lost it watching a video of yours. Keep em coming man !
The computer industry was so much fun back in the late mid/1990's. All the tutorials and instructional software were an amazing mix of weird/quirky/silly, sometimes, dumb, very dumb.
That old adding machine gave me a flashback to visiting my dads office
My first VHS was like that chonky Betamax recorder you showed - it was also a Sony and had the same piano key buttons and top-loading cassette mechanism.
I used to work for the ISP bundled with that Video Professor CD, many years ago. They were a direct competitor to AOL at the time, and like AOL, they were hemorrhaging dialup customers. They also had large call center teams dedicated to kissing up to customers who called in trying to cancel their service. You couldn't pay me enough to do that sort of work again.
I wish I knew how old that Jaguar sewing machine was that you show in the video. Those, as far as I know, aren't sold in the US anymore.
The internet disk is gold for its content alone
17:19 "You're a powerful tool"
HA, Got'em!
Can we please have an entire video of you talking back to those video professor discs?
Seriously, that would be fun!
... and I need to learn The Internet.
That sound like something into Ben Minnotte's (The Oddity Archive) alley....
He does that with so much SARCASM...
Yesssssssssssss that would be funny stuff 🤣😂😂🤣
Great episode as always
That Video Professor set looks like something LGR would talk about. Nice find.
@6:38 - so I don't have to go all the way to Ray's Music Exchange in Calumet City. Great to hear.
Hey I used to own the halo 2 steelbook version. The disc unfortunately is the same as the standard game. Art on the disc & all. You just get a dvd extra that is a making of the game special feature. Sorry to disappoint. The steelbook to get for Xbox was doom 3. The steelbook version of the game had doom 1 & 2 on it as well as the 3rd. Unlike the standard version. I remember trading in the standard doom 3 game for the steelbook version back when.
That Pacman game thing looks really cool!
Do you recall when this Goodwill opened in 2006 and they had a Gamecube gaming kiosk area thing? Me and my sister would play Metroid Prime before shopping lol.
Newer Betamax machines have a severe lack of woodgrain though.
I enjoy these videos
Congrats on 100k subs
My dad gave me his Heroes Happen Here software kit that he won at a SQL Server convention. I used it a few times before I no longer had a computer capable of running it.
LOL - Du-oh! When I saw the HALO game I thought it was a nicely done distressed effect! LMAO
The Islands Goodwill! I like that place, right in my neighborhood. That KZON CD is quite a find!
There used to be an ABCO foods in that plaza. I also remember getting slices at Islands Pizza.
Twixt is actually a great game. Games are usually over in 10 minutes but they are a blast.
“You’re a powerful tool!”
Got eem 👍
Funny, I just went to the indoor flea market today and got some DS games. I have a new hobby now
On the Minnie Mouse mug, I was told that the character medallion was to wrap your teabag string around so that it didn’t fall in.
Found an IBM stapler the other day at my savers, couldn’t pass up a neat desk trinket!
Of course the Video Professor comes bundled with the McAfee Virus 😂
Post a full video of that learn the internet CD!! That thing is halarious. It'd also be cool to see any other weird 90s or early 2000s software you have.
Great video as always. Any plans for videos in Sedona in the future? There are some interesting shopping centers there.
You have to be careful with buying old Betamax players since replacement parts are hard to come by to fix them. My friend has a few unusable ones from his journey trying to find a working one since he was converting a few old tapes he had for a documentary he was assisting with
Good stuff😁
That was a Fry's tag on the software.
I remember watching Video Profesor commercials and thinking it sounded like he was *begging* for people to buy his product. My brother and I used to joke that his wife threw him out and he was poor and homeless. But he had invented Video Professor and was begging for you to "try his product", so he could get his life back to normal.
I would have bought the betamax just to have on my shelf working or not (and love the old top loading vcr's my family had one in 84 (but vhs)
I definitely remember EarthLink and video professor from back in the day LOL.
Earthlink sounds like an 80s movie 😆👍
That's because you're probably too young to remember it was once upon a time the biggest rival to AOL in terms of dial-up internet service! :)
Where's the second channel? I NEED to see those videos if you make them. That's some quality mst3k material.
hate to break it to you but sauder is a good quality company that makes hig quality computer desks, i bought mine at best buy in like the year 2000 and its still pristine condition and i use it all day everyday since 2k, believe it or not and they were expensive at the time, this was like a $700 dollar computer desk, in 2k that was ALOT!!! no kmart tho!
You pronounced ‘Sauder’ right the second time you said. I used to work there about 20 years ago during college.
Wow, the date on that Sauder box was my 15th birthday.
That was one of the better Betamax models.
This Program taught my Grandpa to use his computer when he was 75.
He got so frustrated with this program he taught himself through trial and error.
He's 94 now and with little to no help, trades stock, does online banking, and email.
Think its a Frys Electronics tag
Yes! Do a video on Video Professor :D
LOL, I had that Sauder cart, I probably even bought in it 96
I do like Montgomery Ward things I’ve got a ranch coat that I got it it’s like brand new
