As a finn I am still wondering that. I grew up in a family where dad and brother loved metal and grandparents and mom loved tango. I still love tango myself and I used to watch Tangomarkkinat every year. Finnish tango tends to be in minor key so it sounds melancholic and dark.. How fitting.
The double bass quartet is a surprisingly common ensemble, it turns out! See the Emeth Ensemble’s music video of the companion piece to this, “Baden-Baden Potpourri”, for instance. Also look for Bassiona Amarosa, double bass quartet of the Berlin Philharmonic, and a rendition of Urlich from Mahler 2 (including Hal Robinson of Philadelphia), but there are many other such ensembles as well.
Tango is the natural way to the soul. Learn spanish and listen to Carlos Gardel: Volver, Caminito, Por una cabeza, etc. You will cry. No need for a psychologist
I am an American of Finnish ancestry but why do Finns love Metal and Tango so much?

In this weather and geopolitical position, it is difficult to maintain any cheerful light optimism ... 🤭
