Fun fact, Himmler actually put down flowers on the real Heinrich I's tomb, but Heinrich was regarded as a good guy, they just mixed all the occult stuff in because of Himmler's connection to Castle Wevelsburg, which lies above Wevelsburg Village (renamed Wulfburg in the game). Wevelsburg Castle is what Wolfenstein Castle is based upon because of the SS and nazi connection to the occult. Also the castle lies on a hill above the town, not a mountain like in this game, Paderborn is a real town, like in the game, and also lies not far from Wevelsburg, so there are some truth in the game.
Heinrich was stuck 1000 years in ground, back in the day with swords and shields they probably were unstoppable but in XX century they were bullet sponges. You just don't bring a sword to gunfight but there was no one around to explain it to poor Heinrich.
@Jeff Cotten actually, bringing Dark Knights by using Uber Soldats was their goal, however they overestimated their capabilities. In my opinion, these robots should have been transformed to some lesser Heinrichs, with a bit slower health, killing them would result in exposing crucial points in Heinrichs armour which you could use to kill him
Somehow I feel more immersed in these older games than I do with new ones. I connect with the world much easier than I do with big budget games that have incredibly detailed worlds.
It's because with an older engine, you have brushes and a already unrealistic looking quasi-real simulation world that's mostly barren. you have much more freedom to place hundreds of enemies, make unique floor plans for every single building, make interactive objects from doors to edible food to light switches, and the player can play with every element of the world. I do think we have some incredible, but dying AAA developers today doing stuff like this. Actually, the skeletons with the shields are easy. Two ways to beat them 1. Flamethrower. Use a double click and it will be enough 2. If you do not have a flamethrower. Approach them. They crouch and fight behind the shields, but if you are close enough they stand up ant charge towards you. Whilst they are charging, just fire at them. I even tried to drop that big box, hanging from the rope, on his head. Never could do it. My favorite tactic was to get right next to one of those flower pot looking things with the flames in it. No matter where he went I would keep that flaming pot between us. When he would hit the ground to make me jump up in the air, I wouldn't go anywhere. He could not get me. Then after a while he gets pissed off and starts wandering around in that corner where the hanging box is. Ah dammit Jim, I gotta go kill that SOB again.

I still remember playing this game and finishing this game on my windows 7 computer.
It is vitally important that you wear a bikini when raising the dead.
Of course. How else will you get the dead to _rise?_
Still remember playing it a lot of years ago. One of the most amazing strategy games.
Strategy? Not really
strategy eh?
Best in the world. Finished more than 10 times.. Golden old memories
The
Only
One
Return To Castle Wolfenstein.
Not the today’s garbage.
A game that made the history.
Great game.... i always thought the main character, "Blazkowicz" looked similar to the actor, Adam Baldwin.
That brings back some good memories. Dude was way too heavy on the flamethrower. Those bonehead soldiers only need a puff or 2 to get them to start glowing then they'll pop in a couple of seconds. And by puff I mean a quick mouse click. I would kill them first, that way I could concentrate on killing the big boss as many different ways as possible. Ah dammit Jim, I gotta go kill that SOB again.
the sound of those mummies is 3 times better than any other mummy sound in all the new games out there, I remember when I was a little kid and I was playing with my uncle I was scared to death now any horror game is not scary anymore... .
I still remember the time when my brother played this game and i only watched but now i play all the good games including this one and i love this game i have this game in my pc from 3 years bit i still don't get bored
Completed this level today. Couldn't do it initially but then I said f it and went for it. Kept rotating, died a few times, understood the strategy and in the next attempt he is dead! Pure adrenaline was flowing through my veins and my heart was beating very fast. Truly a Chad game.
The idle animations for the super soldiers at the begining, when they have finished standing upright and hold their guns horizontally, looks very similar to the tommygun idle animation from Kingpin. I wonder if the same animators worked on both titles or maybe animation data was shared.
Dark, dirty, surreal.....definitaly the best Wolfenstein game
A little trick I use, is to let the baddies into the same area as you BEFORE you walk out to meet Heinrich. He won't rise any new dudes, because the other are still alive, but trapped. Works great and you don't have the sword dudes chopping at you.
They'll see you if you peak, and Heinrich sends intangible ghosties after you
man I remember having to use all my ammunition on this guy and then resort to having to take running stabbing and dash tactics to finish him off. best boss fight ever XD
You can kill him with less than 300 9 mm bullets on hard mode
Ah the good old days. I just love killing henrich. If there were 3 Uber soldalts here instead of the dark knights. It would have been near impossible .to win.
Офигительная игруля, больше 10-и раз перепроходил
Epic. Insane.
My words for this Masterpiece!
I played every level for 20-30 times to get the best results.
The moonlight sonata is still in my head....
Holy Hell.
Final fight in Doom Eternal he was reenacting his great-grandfathers finest moment. And had no idea probably.
I remember back in 2001 that was mindblowing and fucking scary. Simply great game.
All i can say is this is a classic.
Multiplayer was so fucking awesome. Loved playing as medic.
this was the only game that drove pure fear in to me....there is no game that did that back in the day....even today i get chills from that black bloob at graveyard....
there was also another game, it was called severance blade of darkness, I used to go to a friend of mine on the 3rd school grade and return to castle wolfenstein and blade of darkness were the scariest thing back there
@@greenwood6781 never played that...looks like conan the barbarian 😁😁
Wonderful game.. i finished many times..
Would love to see this remade with the Wolfenstein ( the New Colossus ) Engine. The new games are ruined by politics that have no place in video games.
That'd be id Tech 6 and I agree, Wolfenstein is at its best when it's just being over the top fun, not trying to push an agenda.
The black female leader and race mixing bullshit was too much, could’ve also done without the backstory on BJ’s Jewish ancestry
Politics meaning "bash past and present Germans like no tomorrow".
Sick of that.
My first foray into online pvp was the tides of war version on Xbox. Great memories. Still play with a friend from the era.
When I was 6 I had no idea what any of this meant, just that it was hella cool
I was playing the game as a teenager, and the map where you have to fight in the supersoldier lab scared the hell out of me. I didn't find Heinrich particularly hard though.
Played this on my desktop in 2013 every day wen I come home from school game scared the shit out of me from 1 days...
Best part of my life
This mission would always have made me feel frightened of playing it through the night, it always freakes the shit out of me, so I delay playing it in the daylight instead, is it me or there is anybody else out there felt the same?
This was a great game so was Battlezone
same man, Battlezone + Wolfenstein were my best childhood games
Dido... invested hundreds of hours just playing Return & Battlezone 1&2 alone. Good times
That music made me have massive nostalgic attack
"Childhood", where are you?))nostalgia)
