But it's even more than I thought! Most of the chops you were excited to find are the absolute easiest to find here. Chicken backs, beef tongue, chicken gizzards, paws. Easy and very cheap in local butchers! The bone content is almost always the cheapest part of the meal, so I try to give bones that contain a higher percentage of meat on them. Wing tips are my favourite to feed, they are the perfect size for cats. But shortening it up, last we made batch was R$10,70/kg. The kibble we used to feed them costs R$14,50/kg. That blew my mind!!!
By the way I calculated everything, supplements and fresh extra foods included (except for the yogurt and quail eggs, which are about R$2 and R$5 and lasts my two cats about 3 WEEKS). Still cheaper than kibble! Besides the health problems/health care costs we would always have when feeding kibble, even though they are healthy cats. I literally watched expensive/reoccurent health issues fade away after just transitioning them to raw. If you count that in, even though you may buy expensive meats sometimes, it's absurdly cheaper.

My favorite vlogger, watched all of your videos and learned a lot. My dog has been eating raw meat for four months, but has been suffering from acid reflux recently. It happens in the middle of the night and early in the morning. A few blood spots appear in the yellow fluid from the recent vomiting. I counted my meals by calories and fed them twice a day. After vomiting I switched to feeding him four times a day and gave him a 10mg Pepcid tablet before going to bed. I am not sure whether to continue to feed raw food, I am worried about the bones will bring the burden of digestion. I hope you can help me with this problem.
My dog has had the same problem and I'm worried he may no longer tolerate raw meat or…maybe, hopefully just one of the proteins. I started lightly cooking his meat to see if that helps and started giving one kind of protein at a time for now so I can see if he has a certain protein sensitivity. I'm worried he can't handle raw anymore for some reason but don't want to cook his food and kill nutrients, ugh, I guess it's a wait and see.
@@PawsofPrey Thanks for your reply! After switching to raw food, he vomited more yellow water than before, but acid reflux was more pronounced recently. I haven't changed much in terms of my diet. The fat content is always less than 10%. But I chose commercial raw food that was beaten up and stirred, so I don't know if that would have affected it.
You might get some high-quality dog probiotics and give it to them as advised on the bottle until they are gone. This really helps my dog with her digestion.
Hey, i have a question So if i feed my cat salmon or machrel twice a week as a source of omega 3 i have to also put with it vitamin e oil ...... So i give my cat vitamin e oil twice a week with oily fish Will that be ok ?
I really want to do this. I’m told it’s okay to do raw if u have good sourced meat because of bacteria/parasites..but I would need to buy similar to what u have here. Is there anything u have to do first to the meat
This is just what iv been looking for. I also would like to know how much of each to portion it 80/10/10 like how do i know how much 80% of the muscle meat etc..
Buy a scale. If your dog needs 1.0 lb of food per day then their meal will have 12.8 oz of muscle meat. It doesn't have to be exactly. Do you eat exactly a certain amount of muscle meat per day? Animals in nature don't carry arounds scales and they also don't have calculators.
I have 4 dogs , 2 boxers and 2 frenchies . Since I had to retire due to my husband's health isdues I can no longer afford to feed raw . I loved the raw diet and wish I could afford it . I also have 4 rescue cats .
I understand this was bare-minimum pricing, but do you not normally specifically try to buy organic/grass-fed/wild foods? Or is the thinking that even factory-raised meats are better than other options? I want to do an organic raw diet for my puppy, but just finding all of these meats is overwhelming as it is! Maybe split the difference and buy organic when possible?
I want to start raw feeding so bad :( but my cat is very traumatized ( she was a sick street cat and spent yea in a shelter) I use very specific treats and foods to help socialize her . She is super picky so trying to change that might stop her progress :/ I guess i am doing research haha !
Do you have any tips on getting a one-year-old dog and a five-month-old puppy to even want to eat the oysters the clams or the organs both of mine turn their nose up at it and I’m not exactly sure how to get them to eat them he even tried boiling them a little bit and that didn’t work either
I dont think you calculated this right. Ive been feeding Raw for a year now and it is very expensive (!especially for big dogs!). Did you buy enough meat to balance out all of the chicken backs that you bought? The weight of the bone is probably what makes the average cost so low.
Yes, this was his daily intake of bone. These chicken backs have a decent amount of muscle meat and fat on it which aided in the overall weight of the meal. They were also one of the cheapest items I bought. This was intended to be exceptionally cheap because I was seeking the cheapest things I could find.
@@PawsofPrey ok. But what im saying is that you will run out of meat before you feed all of the chicken backs. Then youll have to buy more meat and include that in the average cost.
@@ardaunal1875 oh yes, that's usually how it goes. Muscle meat is the first to go and organ meat is the last. This was simply just to show a cheap meal, but you're right about overall if I was prepping. In that case I would need to just buy more packages if the muscle meat I bought earlier in the video.
Question - for the raw meaty bone, do you calculate exactly what the bone to meat ratio would be so that the bone requirement is filled with only bone? If that makes sense. For example, my Doberman puppy gets 9.2 ounces of bone a day, but I’ve been giving him around 15.3 ounces of chicken feet since chicken feet are 60% bone... is that right? Or should it only be 9.2 ounces of chicken feet total?
Yes I take into account the muscle meat ON the bone when calculating bone intake. Chicken backs are about 44% bone and the rest is counted into the muscle meat portion
Genuinely curious because I don’t own a dog, but I’ve noticed you don’t really feed your dog vegetables. Do the organs hold the same nutrients? Love your videos by the way! Very informative ❤️
Organ meats are among the most nutritionally dense foods on the planet (along with eggs, clams, and some fish). Whether those nutrients are perfectly balanced for dogs or have gaps in some nutrients is beyond my understanding, but it's well known that a cut of liver is more nutritionally dense and diverse than most vegetables.
@@CarlosRodriguez-dh7mm Absolutely! i never meant for vegetables to replace organ by any means. What I meant was Veggies are also important in providing vitamins that a typical PMR diet might lack.
I'M NEW! HELP! I'm trying to understand where you came up with needing to feed your pet every part of their "prey." Dogs and cat hunt in packs and never eat the whole prey at any given meal. Wouldn't mimicking their natural diet be more beneficial? Couldn't I just feed them parts of a body throughout the week?
Dogs also don't carry scales and/or calculators. None of this has to be exact. People are going overboard with the measurements. I like your thinking. I've never seen an animal in the wild take measurements when eating it's prey.
@@PawsofPrey I started feeding my kitten raw and I never have seen her having so much energy, she plays like ten times more and runs for hours playing with her toys, and she seems so happy to eat. Thank you so much!

This is the second video I've watched and I just subscribed, so I'll stick around longer and see what else you've got. I've learned so much already, so keep up the great content and work.
If I'm figuring the ratios right, I have a 5 month old yorkie who weighs 7# & very active, he should have 7.83 oz per day ? It's almost what your 25# adult eats, is my figuring right ?
My dog throws up if i feed her cheap dog food. I have to get "sensative stomach formula" that's almost $2 a pound so I've been feeding her a lot of people food, it's not much more expensive
Verdade! Tudo caro, tá ficando foda mesmo, sério, nunca imaginei essa situação, o fígado de boi pagava 7 reais no kg ano passado, agora tá 19!!! BIZARRO
Time is money and the time and gas it took to go to five stores to collect the cheapest meals would never be worth it to me. I shop once, buy bulk, and freeze it at home.
With rising dog food costs, this really isn't any more expensive anymore. Do be careful feeding dogs canned meat, or fish though. It is loaded with extra sodium.

I'm in awe at these prices cause in Sweden meats like porkchop from Sweden or grinded meat from Sweden always cost 8 - 14 dollar per kilo in our supermarkets o.o
Oh my! Well, you're probably paying for better quality honestly.
Yeah I guess so!
Same here in Quebec, Canada. Even gizzards and liver is about 9-10$/kg!!!
@@Fouifsnoodle Yeah. That's a lot of money! :o
you should try whole frozen sardine then you put it on the ban saw. you can cook the sardine in a bone broth if you are uncomfortable about feeding raw fish.
bulk whole frozen sardine are shadow fire btw.
Omg ty this actually helped alott
Yay!
Do you feed him once a day? Or twice a day?
Can you please do another video on premade! Possibly about the different brands, what to do if they do not want to eat it, what to look for in pre made, what to add to pre made, and/or what to avoid in pre made! :)
Great suggestions!! I plan on doing a premade video soon :)
@@PawsofPrey yay! thank you!! looking forward to it :). I think you're also in the USA! If you could please talk about some Canadian ones too that would be awesome! You are such an informative channel i love your videos
Hey, can this diet make my Husky more and more Muscular and tall? I want to make my Huskey more Taller and Muscular than normal Husky!
Would love to know your honest thoughts on Darwins prepared raw meals. I've a 60lb Berger Picard who has been on this for 4 yrs now. He just turned 8. I pay a small mortgage for him to eat. Still trying to learn everything about a balanced raw meal. 11th video of yours tonight, thank you very much. Kai thanks you as well.
I got a pocket bully puppy I just saw all the vitamins/muscle gainer supplement and raw food cost and it hurt me to think bout it. Just bought $120 of vitamin for hip joints, muscle gainer, health and growing improvements from bully max a certified company specializing in dogs. It's for 4 months worth of vitamins it's not that bad but it's too high. Rn I got some puppy stuff but once he's a little older I will only need to buy 80 dollar worth of 4 months and raw+kibble if I want to save money to mix it. Need toys, dog collar leash, shampoo, bedding. Am 16 with a pocket bully puppy I usually buy everything myself just cuz that's who I am I never had nobody to really buy me good amount of clothes and other things.
How do you really know which meat from the store department to get that doesn't have a fillers, preservatives, filled with hormones etc
I want to do a dry and raw diet mix for my GSD but thing i am most scared of is the risk of diseases from eating raw meat. Info online constantly contradict each other with both sides having peer reviewed statements and it just confuses me.
Make sure you freeze any wild caught prey for up to three or four weeks.
Can you do a video on food handling to avoid parasites and food poisoning for our dogs? I want to start off giving my dog some mackerel but idk if I’m supposed to freeze it right after I buy it from the store. And for other foods
I was feeling optimistic but then you said 9lb haul for $22~ but for me with 2 80+ lb dogs that’s gone in 2 days max, each needing at least 2lb of food a day. At that rate I’m spending 20$ every 2 days that’s like 300$ a month. Am I missing something or is there a way to do this cheaper ???? Again am I missing something ???
Hi! Do you feed your dogs once a day?
Love your videos, thank you so much for them!!
Sometimes once, sometimes I split the food into 2 meals!
Dogs eat a lot of fur in the wild. Is there any micronutrient in it that's missing on the insides?
Thanks for the video. Still learning about raw feeding and your videos are a huge help. (FYI: Food Lion is NOTHING like Wegmans - signed "Wegmans Fanboy") 👽🖖"Na-nu"
LOL.....oops. I've never actually been there, just looked online at what stores are "comparable" but I guess it was wrong O__O Wegmans looks comparable to like...whole foods looking at it lol
And I also gave him slippery elm before meals.
Have you noticed a trend at all with this as far as what's in the meal? Sometimes this can be caused by too much fat!
Walmart sells 15 pounds ground beef for 22 bucks. I get my Oregon meat from Spanish Market. They tend to have all cuts of meats
Wal-Mart also has 10lb bags of chicken leg quarters for about 6 dollars.
I stay away from chicken. Two of my dogs allergic so I just stay away all together. They definitely have great deals on fresh and frozen chicken
Hey, i have a question
So if i feed my cat salmon or machrel twice a week as a source of omega 3 i have to also put with it vitamin e oil ...... So i give my cat vitamin e oil twice a week with oily fish
Will that be ok ?
I really want to do this. I’m told it’s okay to do raw if u have good sourced meat because of bacteria/parasites..but I would need to buy similar to what u have here. Is there anything u have to do first to the meat
I’m getting oysters and mussels this weekend for my puppy. Can you please tell me how much of each do I add to her bowl?
What are your thoughts on zesty paws omega chews and supplements?
How do you know how much Vitamin E and kelp to give? And do you give them every day?
I'm sorry! I'm sure you do the best you can
Is pork ok for dogs? is it better than other meats?
Are there no online raw feeding/ BARF shops? I know there are in Europe...
Can I use Raw quail eggs every day in this way I am hitting many of the nutrients lacking as well as iodine in the yolk?
What would you suggest for a dog that has a poultry allergy?
I want to start raw feeding so bad :( but my cat is very traumatized ( she was a sick street cat and spent yea in a shelter) I use very specific treats and foods to help socialize her . She is super picky so trying to change that might stop her progress :/ I guess i am doing research haha !
Do you have any tips on getting a one-year-old dog and a five-month-old puppy to even want to eat the oysters the clams or the organs both of mine turn their nose up at it and I’m not exactly sure how to get them to eat them he even tried boiling them a little bit and that didn’t work either
Quality is more important, buy organs from grass-fed amish cows.
I would ad a few plants like a few blueberry and a baby carrot
In her other videos she adds a frozen vegetable puree! Organs do contain essential vitamins but there are some nutritional gaps.
I do feed a veggie puree!
@@PawsofPrey How often? :)
I'M NEW!
Can I raw feed my kitten? What would you advice me when feeding a kitten raw diet?
I do have a kitten video! ruclips.net/video/QYfFsIeqNnU/видео.html
@@PawsofPrey I started feeding my kitten raw and I never have seen her having so much energy, she plays like ten times more and runs for hours playing with her toys, and she seems so happy to eat. Thank you so much!
That comes out to $210 per month. It's still expensive... But I understand the concept and am excited to learn more about your channel. This is the second video I've watched and I just subscribed, so I'll stick around longer and see what else you've got. I've learned so much already, so keep up the great content and work.
But she said roughly about $1 a day, unless of course you mean you have several dogs or at least a bigger dog?
I love this! Could you do one for cats?
It's basically the same! I could definitely get this cost down since my cat eats about half this much lol
If I'm figuring the ratios right, I have a 5 month old yorkie who weighs 7# & very active, he should have 7.83 oz per day ? It's almost what your 25# adult eats, is my figuring right ?
I go over how to calculate for puppies here! ruclips.net/video/Zb5iwD3H-eg/видео.html
Mexican stores be on point
Can you do a video or have a video with all the parts of meat, seafood that are good or ok for your dog?
I have a few videos on these subjects actually :)
A few ounces of sardines would easily meet your dog's vitamin D requirements. As well as some vitamin E.
As someone who knows the livestock industry, beef is the least altered meat.
Could u make a raw feeding Playlist for ferrets n kits I'm getting one I'm still a bit confused n overlord and don't wanna mess it up plz
I will be doing more ferret videos soon, but look up Pazu and Friends, she has a plethora of ferret nutrition and care videos
My dog throws up if i feed her cheap dog food. I have to get "sensative stomach formula" that's almost $2 a pound so I've been feeding her a lot of people food, it's not much more expensive
Goood morning!!! Have a great Friday 💕🥰😍 here in brazil is getting really expensive to buy meats, and any other thing or food 😓 I hate Bolsonaro 😭
Fora Bozo!
BIZARRO
Prices have actually gone up here too! But luckily I can still find a few deals.
The problem I have is I have 3 85lbs or more German shepherds
Nice cash cow account. Post more though so you can hit the explore feed more. Your channel will grow faster ! And your voice over artist is great too
Thank you! :p
For my dog (large) his good kibble and raw is the same 👀
You cannot get these prices in Canada :(
I'm sorry!
You should have been compared it with Royal canin The Royal canin will be more than 2x the raw diet
Had no idea Target in the US sells food. That’s so weird.
Time is money and the time and gas it took to go to five stores to collect the cheapest meals would never be worth it to me. I shop once, buy bulk, and freeze it at home.
Taurine ?
I’m told it’s necessary . What food has taurine
Hehe, Matsu is a cardigan corgi pembroke corgi mix
The sardines have salt that is ok?
No
Are chicken hearts a second S organ ?
No, they are a muscular organ that should be counted in the muscle meat
Do you feed matsu PMR or NRDC ?
I feed Matsu BARF+ I guess is what people would call it. I balance it to NRC guidelines with fresh foods.
When feeding raw they have to be either a muscle or an organ. These are easier for them to digest.
With rising dog food costs, this really isn't any more expensive anymore. Do be careful feeding dogs canned meat, or fish though. It is loaded with extra sodium.
Can you do this for you cat
Excellent video. I think your cost calculation didn't include the cost in time and effort. Most people are so busy.
that took her about 3 minutes to put together.
@@bunniesbunniesbunnie didn't take 3 min to go to one store. Let alone 5.
@@MsrKSDisque Well yes but you're also shopping for yourself at the same time, so that doesn't count.
Very true, you do have to put in a decent amount of work to feed raw!
