Cutting duck heads in half works great for my small dogs. My yorkie has gulped the end of a chicken foot on occasion. It did not cause issues but necks and feet tend to encourage him to gulp the last piece. Mine do well with chicken wings.
I love this video because I've had a hard time finding a few things at local and chain stores, I don't know why I didn't think of checking some international stores. I'll see if I can find some good stuff for the ol pup
Thanks a lot for all your amazing content, I have a question 'Green tripe' I can find it here in my local butcher but they have it already cleaned is no longer green but white, will this still provide some sort of nutritional value?
It's also impossible to find it here in NYC. I've noticed that the tripe is bleached until sparking white, so I don't buy it. I wouldn't even consume it if I ate meat.
Hi Mariah, 👋🏽 Thank you for all the love, passion and hard work you share with all the raw feeders. Your videos are always informative and very appreciated. I've noticed that beef kidney causes my dog an unpleasant stinky breath. I brush his teeth evey night before going to bed but the smell still remains. How can I avoid that? 😅
Thanks so much, Leana! :) You notice it's only when you add kidney to the diet? How much do you feed? Kidney is certainly smelly, but I'm shocked it lingers so much since it's such a small portion of the diet! You can of course feed different secreting organs, but other than teeth brushing with enzymatic toothpaste, there really isn't something that can completely take the smell away from specific foods.
@@PawsofPrey yes, the bad breath is only present when I feed him the kidneys. According to his weight, only 0.48 oz. It's a small amount so I'm not sure why his breath stinks every time he eats this. This is the reason I don't feed him kidneys, but I replaced it with bull testicles.
Can you recommend suggestions on a balanced diet not including chicken? It seems to be making my cattle dog really itchy and she now has a hot spot on her tail (vet says unknown cause). I give her a mix of 1/2 Purina lamb kibble, grass fed ground beef, pig kidney & heart, plus either sardines/anchovies. Haven’t found a reliable bone source thats not from chicken. Not sure we’ll ever go full raw, but I do want to offer a variety of sources/nutrients. Thanks for sharing all you do!

@@amosjuliantampubolon2413 yes, wild boar as well. Make sure they eat every thing plus some natural forrest dirt. Lots of good bacteria, strengthens their gut microbiome and lining. That's how carnivores would naturally eat, on the floor in the dirt.
Green tribe is found at your local tractor or farm outlet much cheaper than online they probably will give it to you cuz it's not clean for human consumption❤
Great video, as usual. My two cats absolutely hate kidney, no matter the species, and leave it untouched when I put it on their meals (I tried to cut it really small, but their sense of smell and dexterity with their tongue is amazing), so I usually complement the liver with thymus or testis. Any advice or recommendation?
I have tried feeding raw green tripe many times from different reputable resources. This is the only thing that makes my dog chew her feet. I suspect it may have grain in it although it is supposedly grass finished. The other thing could be that it is high in histamine.
@Paws of Prey I have read some articles where anything high in histamines can aggravate yeast in some dogs. This unfortunately includes some very healthy things such as fermented foods. There may be truth to this. It seems to be a trigger for her. I hate not feeding it though because I know it is a great source of manganese. Her gut is great so she does not seem to miss the probiotic benefits. I gotta listen to my dog!
My boys love everything raw so far the past few years. Only one needed to warm up to certain liver and kidneys when fully thawed. Slightly frozen and he ate it. Now it’s all gobbled down. For anyone unaware - green tripe will be the smelliest things you might not be ready for 😅 You’ll think it’s an edible bowel movement haha! Maybe you local farmers market sells it as well if there is a beef vendor.

Hey so I just saw your comment. I have GSD dog as well. No you do not want to mix kibble with raw. The rate of digestion is much different. Raw food is know to digest at a rate of about 8 hours where as processed can take up to 24 hours. This has the potential of causing a bacteria build up. This is why when you switch your dog to raw, you fast a day before introducing our food, no slow change over.
I’m getting a corgi pup soon and I would love to hear about you experience raising your corgi on a raw diet especially from an early age! Is there specifics to look out for when it comes to this breed?
Nope, nothing different from another breed their size/weight! Just feed the proper-sized meaty bones (which you can see on my free cheat sheet) congrats on your new puppy :)
I tried to feed my cats Green tripe after watching your video... But they refuse to eat those. I guess it's because the strong smell? Would you have any suggestion on that?
New foods may not always stick at first and may take a few tries! You could try cutting it into small pieces (unless it's already ground), offering it when your kitties are the most hungry (before any other food), adding a tasty topper to it , or lightly searing it
I have a picky Golden that used to eat certain parts of his meal and leave the others. Now I mix everything together along with a bone broth topper and he eats it all with no hesitation

Good luck on your journey! I enjoy your videos, but a lot of the items mentioned, are difficult to find near me. I feed my two cats, ground beef, chicken thigh meat and some beef liver. Once a week, they get a tin of sardines. I add a supplement for whatever else they need.
Thank you for the informative video, I. have one question, can we feed meat that we bought that same day from the supermarket? Or should we freeze it for some days for the bacteria to die?
I've been feeding my cats raw meat and everything you mentioned they don't like! Everything! I use chicken backs cut up with a special scissors. I tried chicken necks 😅 and a couple cats liked it but they don't really. I use skinless chicken breast that's the favorite of all my cats. They don't like beef liver only chicken liver. I tried all the other ones and they just turn their nose at them so I don't know where you come up with these . Hamburg 2 they just don't like it unless I sprinkle some dry food with it. They like beef they do like pork .Some raw fish and cooked shrimp. Oh, and raw eggs! and I like to put nutritional yeast in the dry food.

Hello, what are your thoughts on adding a small amount of blood to a cats meal? I can get pure beef blood and my cats love it but not sure how to feed it. At the moment I am just adding a small amount to their meals every so often as a treat

have you had any issues with "protein allergies" in your dogs? It seems that my 10yo (approximate, rescued), 7 year long carnivore doggo started to get skin rash and yeasty ear infections. I get a green tripe in my butcher but is is kind of a yellowish brown one, not white and definitely not green, I asked them if it's 'Dirty' lol and they said yes, but since it's not green I guess is not really the kind that would provide all the manganese?
Have you had any troubles or scares feeding your dogs raw organs and meats from the asian supermarkets? I hear of people shopping there but am weary of weather or not the meat there has the same safety regulations, and is checked for parasites or is safe to feed to my dogs.
Chichen or turkey hearts are not cheap anymore:(( $5-$6 per pack:(( For my cat I do grind them with the rest, iver and chicken breast..make like a pate dish..adding egg shels powder (made by me:) taurine, little pink salt and vitamins from Dr. Jones...my cat love it. Thank you for your videos!!!

Ever heard of Pottenger's Cats? We (humans) should also consume raw (and not just muscle meats). Currently, chickens and pigs are primarily raised on inappropriate diets thus their meat is inferior to wild or grass-fed forest/pasture raised animals. Freezing the meat is less optimal than fresh but doesn't destroy the nutrients like cooking does...
Thank you for your videos! My cat doesn't have all the teeth and as a resource of meaty bone I only give her grind chiken necks..Are chicken heads ok to feed?Or is there some other options for meaty bone that I could grind or cut in some way?
How do you combat a picky eater? My dog won't eat duck heads even if I cut the head in four pieces. Or Things he do eat, sometimes he just don't want it.
My country (Hungary) has very strict food and meat rules. But still how do I make sure there are no maggots and parasites in the meat? Uncooked meals are always some kind of a risk. Maybe beef is not so much, but that would be crazy expensive.
Okay pardon my ignorance as this is new to me. I get that in nature animals wouldn't cook their food but aren't parasites a concern? Mainly pork and chicken? Please help me understand how dogs and cats are safe from salmonella and other raw food risks I'd never intentionally expose myself to. Thanks for the info!!
I work in a supermarket, and can easily take advantage of meats in the mark down section. I need to stock up on a variety of meats before preparing a raw diet.
Hi! I have a Bull Mastiff 4 and a half month 55 lbs lol and I just switched him to raw last week. I have honestly gone quite high quality and it is way too expensive so will be shopping around. My question is.. for instance Beef kidneys or Livers.. does grass fed/finished affect these organs?
@@Magickfae Oh no! Just email support@pawsofprey.com and I'll help you out lol. But to answer your question, yes the nutrient content of these organs will be different depending on how the animal was raised and fed!
@@PawsofPrey that makes sense! Okay will do thank you! One more question if you have time to answer 🤦♀️ lol is.. I am currently doing 73/17/10 and I am not getting the edible bone right on point.. I am getting like 20 grams off. I will go get chicken feet to fill in the tiny gap. But is it okay every once and awhile ? Or should I make sure it's accurate every single time.
OR you can purchase these proteins from a reputable online raw food pet food company. There are several in the U.S. They take the work out of the process. If you have cats as I do, You can add a Taurine supplement to your raw food.
Another thing to look at when looking at the premade brands is what parts they use. A lot just use the cheapest off cut parts of the animal (most of which are great to feed as part of the diet) but don’t offer a lot of variety in terms of which body parts and which organs are added.
I’d rather not go for tareff, easier to store in the house without disgust. So, ya know any vitamin d oils out there? Or I can get separate gloves & freezer & cabinets for my dog. Or I can just get a parrot & save all the hassle.
I've heard there is no such thing as a pure 100% grass fed cow in the supermarket. The rancher will always throw in some grain usually towards the end of the cows life to have some amount of fat.
I'm a little confused by the ratios for a balanced diet. In your cheat sheet you say 40-51% muscle meat, but in the Rawpetsrule feeding guide, she has only 35% muscle meat
This is because she also includes fish, other seafood, and a fiber source into her percentages. I do suggest these foods as well, but I don't include it into the percentages just to make things more visually simple!
@@kingdre_2297 a small amount of water soluble nutrients can be lost, yes. But the main reason you shouldn't do this is because you'd be splashing bacteria all over the sink and potentially onto the counters/yourself. It's just not necessary! You're not really "washing" anything off.
@@PawsofPrey Alright got it. Been trying to convince mom to buy raw food for my 10 year old dog. Maltese shi tzu mix. Idk what to get him. I was thinking Chiken Heart, Liver, and Ground beef. Can he eat raw chicken eggs?
My puppy eats kibble (soaked with water or water from boiling chicken)as her dinner (only half a cup even though she's about 6kg and 9 months old, she really doesn't need much) but almost every day gets one of the following • frozen raw chicken neck • frozen raw chicken tip • raw frozen beef mince • splash of goat milk • teaspoon of yogurt • small egg • salmon skin • various vege/fruit like carrot, apple, pumpkin and zucchini • treats like dried beef liver, dried carrot, dried apple, providore air dried food, cow hooves, homemade peanut butter cookies and salmon jerky I also add a fish oil capsule, flax/chia seeds, herbs (e.g. turmeric, oregano, thyme, cinnamon) to her meals a couple times a week. Feedback? Any affordable ways to improve? Chicken tips are superrrr cheap from my butcher and a good size. I could perhaps get my hands on raw beef liver, kidneys, beef tongue, chicken hearts etc but they might be pricey. I have friends who are slaughtering tons of sheep in the near future so hopefully I'll get some organ meats of them. Do you have to cook them or give them raw straight out of bag?
have you had any issues with "protein allergies" in your dogs? It seems that my 10yo (approximate, rescued), 7 year long carnivore doggo started to get skin rash and yeasty ear infections. The vet told me it's "due to protein allergies from the meat". I'm rather skeptical about that and have been trying to "poll" anyone to see what they've experienced.
Very often this happens because of chicken
Hello as i m in india we have only limited options like chicken and goat and rarely we can find pig as beef and other animals here are a taboo to the indians and duck we can't find duck anywhere cause ppl here dont eat duck 😅 so can I switch those meats with either chicken or goat and if nutrients are less then can i add supplements to support???
I got 2 bully’s, a classic and standard. The standard, he’s a male and is a Merle. Both of my dogs just had a litter almost 3 weeks ago, 6 puppies in total and got one male n female Merle 😭 I need to change my dogs diet to raw.
I get a green tripe in my butcher but is is kind of a yellowish brown one, not white and definitely not green, I asked them if it's 'Dirty' lol and they said yes, but since it's not green I guess is not really the kind that would provide all the manganese?
We downloaded the cheat sheet for our puppy now when it comes to the supplements how much of it we suppose to give him ?
Thank you 😊
I love this video so well made
Does anyone kmow how or where to buy green tripe?
Have you had any troubles or scares feeding your dogs raw organs and meats from the asian supermarkets? I hear of people shopping there but am weary of weather or not the meat there has the same safety regulations, and is checked for parasites or is safe to feed to my dogs.
Chichen or turkey hearts are not cheap anymore:(( $5-$6 per pack:((
For my cat I do grind them with the rest, iver and chicken breast..make like a pate dish..adding egg shels powder (made by me:) taurine, little pink salt and vitamins from Dr. Jones...my cat love it. Thank you for your videos!!!
@bandossful I don't think I trust myself to make my dogs meals :(
My pit bout to be happy af
@Tyrant820 what did you start with ? my pits are .2yr
@jfros9794 mine just turned 1 about a week ago. But I started her off small with chicken feet and backs and I've given her the raw egg too. How about you?
@@jfros9794 my dog just gets a mixture of raw patties and quality dry dog food along with the meats mentioned here. also gets cooked veggies, fruit, and yogurt.
My dog and cat refuse to eat green tripe or liver. Kidney What should I do, ?please help. I have a chihuahua and domestic cat
I have a quick question😊
Can i avoid pork in a kitten/cats diet?😊
Yes
Hey dose anyone know if I have to take out the intestines of the mackerel when I feed it to my dogs I am worried 😞😞😞😞
Feed whole
@@hannahbanana2942 Oh really! Thank you I was super confused.
Either or! Sometimes I have to remove them for my pets to be interested, but sometimes they're fine with it
@@PawsofPrey oh thank you so much ❤️❤️🐶
Why not bone in chicken thighs? I’m a bit worried because I’ve been feeding my large breed dog ones with bones.
As long as you don’t cook the chicken with the bones. Raw is fine the bone won’t splinter
Could I heat up blood and mix it with the raw meat? That’ll warm up the meal and also add more water content.
Yep, if it's pure, unseasoned blood! Just don't make it too hot
Thank you for your videos!
My cat doesn't have all the teeth and as a resource of meaty bone I only give her grind chiken necks..Are chicken heads ok to feed?Or is there some other options for meaty bone that I could grind or cut in some way?
When I gave her a bigger piece of chicken neck she attempted to swallow the hole piece,I am worried that she will choke on it
Yep chicken heads are great!
@@PawsofPrey thank you very much!
How do you combat a picky eater?
My dog won't eat duck heads even if I cut the head in four pieces.
Or
Things he do eat, sometimes he just don't want it.
Genuine question, but aren't store bought deli meats treated with chemicals?
My country (Hungary) has very strict food and meat rules. But still how do I make sure there are no maggots and parasites in the meat? Uncooked meals are always some kind of a risk. Maybe beef is not so much, but that would be crazy expensive.
It's SO convenient that you're in Gainesville 😂 Where do you go locally for green tripe?
lol! I go to Earth Pets off of Newberry!
I watched another podcast that had a veterinarian explain this. She said it had to do with the ph level of the animals gut
@@debrarobinson7584 thank u! I actually have learned a lot since asking the question but I so appreciate your input!
I heard through millions of years of evolution they adapted to raw food and they are basically immune to salamania.
I love your videos!❤
I work in a supermarket, and can easily take advantage of meats in the mark down section. I need to stock up on a variety of meats before preparing a raw diet.
I don't know if I should wash or clean ,but my 3 boys not eating liver
local stores did not work for me. my dog had stomach issues with store bought meat in germany. ordering from barf sellers solved it all
Also , I'm not sure why but when I enter my email I am not receiving the cheat sheet 😢
Oh boy.. found the cheat sheet and I guess I bought the formulator twice 😭 woops!! Paws of Prey could you help me out I'm so sorry
Where I am in the US.. shipping is insane. It's unfortunately not worth online shopping :(
Another thing to look at when looking at the premade brands is what parts they use. A lot just use the cheapest off cut parts of the animal (most of which are great to feed as part of the diet) but don’t offer a lot of variety in terms of which body parts and which organs are added.
Ever since starting the raw food diet, my dogs breath is stinky. Any suggestions?
I’d rather not go for tareff, easier to store in the house without disgust.
So, ya know any vitamin d oils out there?
Or I can get separate gloves & freezer & cabinets for my dog.
Or I can just get a parrot & save all the hassle.
I've heard there is no such thing as a pure 100% grass fed cow in the supermarket. The rancher will always throw in some grain usually towards the end of the cows life to have some amount of fat.
My dog will not eat chicken hearts or liver eat all around it what do I do?
Although grass fed meat is superior, even the cheapest ground beef is better than kibble, so get what you can afford and don't feel bad
Pet stores sell Frozen rats and frozen mice, some sell baby chicks Frozen rabbits etc. all the organs all at once including brain
I have been feeding my dog chicken leg quarters. Is that ok?
I have 2 huskie one month old
Doesn’t pork HAVE to be cooked due to tricomonas or worm risk????
I go over safety precautions for pork and when it's safe to feed raw in this video! ruclips.net/video/4OfcZMQ3TVs/видео.html
Why would you take the bone off when it has tons of value?
Why do you do boneless chicken thighs instead of leaving in the bone? I thought any bone is good for dog as long as it’s not cooked.
I’m in your club. Can you create a monthly recipe based on this list please?
Quick question... Do I have to clean the meat before feeding my dog?
? No answers?
Nope!
@@PawsofPreyif i do clean them. Will it clean off the nutrients?
@@kingdre_2297 a small amount of water soluble nutrients can be lost, yes. But the main reason you shouldn't do this is because you'd be splashing bacteria all over the sink and potentially onto the counters/yourself. It's just not necessary! You're not really "washing" anything off.
@@PawsofPrey Alright got it. Been trying to convince mom to buy raw food for my 10 year old dog. Maltese shi tzu mix. Idk what to get him. I was thinking Chiken Heart, Liver, and Ground beef. Can he eat raw chicken eggs?
Oh no, I couldn't possibly give up chicken feet to my pets... the soup they make is too delicious.
chicken feet?? wow it is safe for pups and adult pugs to digest?
I live in a 90% Muslim country so I cannot find pork. Can you please provide alternatives for pork ingredients?
My puppy eats kibble (soaked with water or water from boiling chicken)as her dinner (only half a cup even though she's about 6kg and 9 months old, she really doesn't need much) but almost every day gets one of the following
• frozen raw chicken neck
• frozen raw chicken tip
• raw frozen beef mince
• splash of goat milk
• teaspoon of yogurt
• small egg
• salmon skin
• various vege/fruit like carrot, apple, pumpkin and zucchini
• treats like dried beef liver, dried carrot, dried apple, providore air dried food, cow hooves, homemade peanut butter cookies and salmon jerky
I also add a fish oil capsule, flax/chia seeds, herbs (e.g. turmeric, oregano, thyme, cinnamon) to her meals a couple times a week.
I don't want to feed wjole heads cos they freak me out but I can deal with feet and necks.
@@cleancutguy1892 because it's the most convenient and cost effective. I am a 15 year old disabled girl with 1 of my parents working. We are blessed to have our own home and be debt free but we aren't millionaires. Raising a service dog is extremely expensive.
Raw feeding is VERY costly, time consuming and inaccessible. My pup is on a decent kibble, i think she'll live.
I keep hearing that cats can’t digest beef liver and that chicken liver is better? There’s so many different opinions idk what to do or believe sometimes lol
As long as u dont bleed, you'll do fine, cause they'll create a lust for raw meat if they smell blood.
I’m so afraid of trying new meats as my miniature poodle gets diarrhea so easily.
Unfortunately, the cheat sheet is not free. You have to subscribe to the formulator which has a cost before the free cheat sheet is emailed to you. Great video but false advertising.
The cheat sheet is free! It's a free PDF download. What you're seeing is probably the formulator discount for new subscribers. If you haven't been able to get the free cheat sheet, I can email it to you personally. Just message me here for it: www.pawsofprey.com/contact
Discussing all these different forms of protein without discussing the need for balancing calcium with protein will lead to dogs with diarrhea.
I’ve always heard to avoid feeding raw pork to dogs
The only reason I got chicken breast was because it's lower in sodium than thigh so far
WE raise all our own MEAT as supermarket meats contain lots of unhealthy additives to make it "pretty" for you to buy...
Wow you’re so fancy!
