I think low morale played a large part in the weakness of the Soviet military in the late '80s/early '90s, particularly after the Soviet-Afghan War. I also remember Mathias Rust, a young man from West Germany, who landed his private plane in Red Square unharmed after flying through Soviet airspace for hours. It was amazing! Having said all of this I would caution against underestimating any enemy, especially a nuclear-armed enemy who may feel cornered.

I feel bad for Ukraine. What was this offensive for? What is the logic behind it? It doesn't have enough manpower or military armament to sustain and keep that region for long. Makes no sense at all.
