I love how silly all of your family members are together. That's how my house is, and I was raised silly by my step mom. The best gift I could have ever been gifted!! :D
Jill- I am just now transitioning my family to a WFPB way of living. I have 4 picky kids 8 & under and a MEAT LOVING HUSBAND! I chose this as dinner on day3. And it was A HIT!!!!!!!!! Every single person in the family loved it! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you do and all you teach us! I watched your video with Maggie on how you transitioned the kids and that helped me in SO many ways! Very thankful for you!!!
Jill, I do a version of this recipe the day before I go grocery shopping every week. What ever we have left that needs to be used up is what we have for dinner with rice, noodles or something else starchy . Over time my sauce has evolved to something sorta Asian. Maybe mine needs some of the Sambal Oleek too. I'll get some tomorrow and let you know how it turns out. I've missed you, but also understand the need for some space to take a few deep breaths. Thanks for visiting. Give little Poncho a hug for me.
You are sooooo funny 😂😂 i love you and so practical, great tips thanks 😙 been plant based 8 months got rid of my Osteoarthritis in my feet no more walking stick 👏 no weight loss tho 😔 only 57 young
I made this last night. I didn't have all of the ingredients as listed, so I tweaked. I used frozen veggie (sale at the store) and put red curry paste instead of the otherl seasoning and a teaspoon of peanut butter in the sauce. It was yummy.
OMG Jill! I noticed that a lot of your videos were published years ago, I just started watching your videos shortly after moving into our new old house! I LOVE you wonderfully simple videos! Yippee Kai yeay!!!!
❣️❣️❣️Omg, Jill, loved this sauce! Eating it as I write. Made brown rice like you teach in the Instant Pot (perfect!) vegs are celery, onion, carrots peas garlic, broccoli with the sauce and lettuce and spring greens! Thank you, you have helped me so much, you’re a babe! Miss you!❣️❣️❣️
You’ve been a life saver to me. I had to go vegan gluten free at a moment’s notice. Your recipes are fun to try. Needed a bit of salt but was spicy enough.
Oh yeah baby! Tomorrow is date night for hubby and I! Guess what I'm making! YUP this is going to be num num num.....! Thanks for the recipe! You make me giggle all the way to the kitchen! Thanks again!
OOOHHHHH....I just made your sauce for this, only I put sweet chili sauce in it and also some red pepper paste...wow..talk about some nice heat, wow. I put a little over some Tofu from another recipe of yours I believe, it has been in my fridge marinating in a BBQ sauce that you made for it..so good. It is all over some rice, and that was my lunch...very good Jill. Love your recipes!
This sounds so delicious! I'll have to try it soon! I'm also trying to find a peanut sauce. So, I'll try this later on with some peanut butter added to the sauce.
Made this today, really good. Baked my tofu in my new Breville. Used coconut aminos, didn't have tamari. The sauce was a little spicy for me, but i'm a punk when it comes to spice, but it was really good, thanks for this recipe.
Were you using the metal whisk from your hand mixer? Please say yes, I thought I was the only one who does that 😂. This recipe looks great, I can't wait to try it!
Hi Jill! I was wondering where you purchased that really great wok! Is it ceramic coated non-stick? If someone else asked the same question here please forgive me, I didn't read all of the comments. Love your videos!
I love that pan, Marcy. It's a Green Pan Wok. I probably bought it at Target. If you don't have a large enough lid at home already, you may want to buy one for the wok. When I need to steam A BUNCH of veggies, I use an extra large lid from another skillet to get the job done.
I've never used or knew about the Sambal Oelek. Can you use something to replace it? I have 62 herbs/spices on hand, as well as other seasonings, liquid and dry. Could I try Sriacha, or Cayene, etc?
I'm hungry too. Even though we just had this meal, I could eat it again. I've been to the grocery store since shooting this video. I could definitely make this loaded with more veggies.
This is on the menu for tonight. I finally found some organic napa cabbage. My question is.....is a pound of spaghetti too much? Also going to try the Coconut Secret.
It's a Green Pan wok. I've had it for...gosh....four years. Found it at Target. At the time it did not come with a lid, fortunately I had one large enough already. I think these days the wok comes with a lid. I know Target still carries the Green Pan brand. They're reasonably priced, too. :D
The black salt tastes and smells like a boiled egg. It's weird and tasty all at the same time. If you decide to shop for it, go to an Indian grocery store. Don't buy it online, it's WAY overpriced online. I can buy a 8 ounce bag of it for $2 at local Indian grocery store around the corner from my neighborhood. Tell the clerk you need "kala namak", black salt.
Oh one more thing. A little goes a long way so buy the smallest bag of Black salt they have on hand. I've read that for Indians, black salt is as common as our salt and pepper. You may find the store's smallest bag is still more than you need. Think about which of your foodie friends you could share it with. ;D
I totally dig my green pan wok and saucepans. I bought them piece by piece when Target put them on sale. I have had the large wok for 5 years and it still looks new. No scratches. It's easy to clean with a washcloth. Same for the saucepans. If you come across the green pan wok with a lid, get that one. At the time, I bought my wok, the lid wasn't available. Thankfully, I already had a large lid from an old teflon skillet that fit well enough.
Oh yes. Since making this video, I've been doubling the sauce and veggies so we can have enough leftover for lunch the next day. Max and Charlie really chowdown on this meal. I have to fuss at them to save some for the next day.
Good morning JIll, I'm thinking that the reason the tofu pops off better after leaving it sit for a bit might be because of the condensation that sometimes builds up from the heat, which would let the tofu relax a little????? Dunno,,,, it's my guess LOL.
I know what you mean! I hate it when my husband liked something the first time, then the second time not so much. His phrase is, it's not my favorite, which means, I didn't like it. 🤔
My husband says "its okay" and then leaves most of it, when he doesn't like something. But then he would eat pasta and ragu sauce every day if I let him.
I like at the end where you're talking about how you love something but your family says it's just OK. You'd go crazy if you had to feed my husband. He'll say something is OK and then primarily because he filled up on Cheetos before dinner, half of his plate goes in the trash.
You're so funny. Your videos make me smile and want to try the recipes.
I love how silly all of your family members are together. That's how my house is, and I was raised silly by my step mom. The best gift I could have ever been gifted!! :D

Serve the sambal oelek as a condiment so each guest can fine tune the heat to their own preferences. That's what they do in Asia.
Yup!! I love that sauce!! My husband introduced me to it. He's Asian, but I swear I'm Asian at heart🤣
You're my kind of gal, matey! Love your sense of humour.
Another recipe I'll try here across the pond!
My kids can never get enough noodles. I'm making this tomorrow. Thank you!
You are sooooo funny 😂😂 i love you and so practical, great tips thanks 😙 been plant based 8 months got rid of my Osteoarthritis in my feet no more walking stick 👏 no weight loss tho 😔 only 57 young
Oh my word! This sauce is AMAZING! I made this with lo mein noodles and all veggies. I may try this as a salad dressing minus the cornstarch ...
+Gertygoose4 thank you for coming back to let me know. I have never thought to use it as a dressing. Thank you for the inspiration I will try it too 😃
May I ask what brand of lo mein noodle you use? All that I’ve seen contain eggs!
Just cooked this with zucchini, cabbage and onion. Oh my goodness its wonderful.
JILL!!! Just made this for dinner tonight and we LOVED IT!!!!! It is on my weekly list now. Thank you for sharing:)
I made this last night. I didn't have all of the ingredients as listed, so I tweaked. I used frozen veggie (sale at the store) and put red curry paste instead of the otherl seasoning and a teaspoon of peanut butter in the sauce. It was yummy.

How about portabella mushrooms for the "meat"?
My husband loves pasta but not veggies. With the sauce, I bet he won't mind the veggies. You're awesome!
I love your honesty about the family comments. I will be making this dish thank you so much
You’ve been a life saver to me.
+Vegan Lovebirds OH YEAH, love that date night! Hubby and I have to get out of the house for ours. We both like to grab Ethiopian for dinner.
I had this a couple of nights ago and it was so good! I snapchatted you the completed meal. Thanks Jill
I missed that snap! What's your snap handle?
tollboothwilly5
Whoah, serving up that nummie dinner made me a little dizzy girl! Movin that camera around. I'm definitely going to try that sauce. Thanks!
Seriously love watching your videos. Enjoy your recipes but mainy your joy for life!
I just need to come to your house and eat. Everything looks so delicious. Bonus is a fun family!
Mmm looks yummers. And so Simple too! Oh, imagine that?! Hee hee The sauce is like a spicy teriyaki. Maple spice teriyaki. Mmmmmmmm
OOOHHHHH....I just made your sauce for this, only I put sweet chili sauce in it and also some red pepper paste...wow..talk about some nice heat, wow. I made something so similar the other night, although I used a premade sauce that's packed with refined sugar. I have to try your sauce!
This looks JUST LIKE something me and my hubby would LOVVEEE♡♡♡ (annnd would ASK for 😉) Thank you Jill! Can't wait to make it!!!
I love your energy
This sounds so delicious! I'll have to try it soon! I'm also trying to find a peanut sauce. So, I'll try this later on with some peanut butter added to the sauce.
YUM!!!! This looks to DIE for Jill!!! Thank you!!!
+Donna McFarland Let me know when you make it 😃
This recipe is my absolute favorite.
Made this today, really good. Baked my tofu in my new Breville. Used coconut aminos, didn't have tamari. The sauce was a little spicy for me, but i'm a punk when it comes to spice, but it was really good, thanks for this recipe.
Wutz up, Pancho! HA! Love it. And I think it looks FAB!!!
This one is on my list!! TFS!!
That looks so good can't wait to try it. Where did you get your white pasta dishes. They are just what I am looking for.
I bought those dishes from a friend's yard sale box. There's a BIG wide serving bowl that goes with it. I use it to hold our apples.
I’m going to make this but I’m going to add some organic ginger powder to it. Yum
Love your vids. With anything Asian, tho, I love water chestnuts. Add them to this and it'd be great
Yum...I added some portabellos and red bell peppers...Wok you say?..lol
good stuff Jill! 👍
I do this but, I use the noodles from ramen and "fry" them my kiddos love it! ( they just have organic ramen noodles)
thank you for this one pot meal
You're welcome! Let me know when you make it :D
I used a Chinese noodles in a bag
That looks yummy!
+Cyndee Cochrane it really is tasty. I could make it again tonight despite that we just had it the other night.
I love "The form from Ipanema"!!!
Broccoli 🎉 WOOT WOOT! 😄 This dish looks great Jill 👏🏻
Looks delicious!
You make me smile... Love
You just made me smile!
Were you using the metal whisk from your hand mixer? Please say yes, I thought I was the only one who does that 😂. This recipe looks great, I can't wait to try it!
LOVE Penzey's Spices
I just call it chili garlic paste haha
Hi Jill! I was wondering where you purchased that really great wok! Is it ceramic coated non-stick? If someone else asked the same question here please forgive me, I didn't read all of the comments. Love your videos!

Haha Jill! Never thought of using pasta instead of an asian noodle
I've never used or knew about the Sambal Oelek. Can you use something to replace it? I have 62 herbs/spices on hand, as well as other seasonings, liquid and dry. Could I try Sriacha, or Cayene, etc?
Looks really good! I am hungry now ;)

Ignore me. I just noticed the 16 oz. on your package. :)
Apple liquid smoke just delivered. Yay.
Hey Jill, didn't you have an add-on vid to this where you made it again but added a few other things? I can't wait for dinner. :)
I did a snapchat but did not reshoot a whole new vid.
yummy this looks delish :)
Hi Jill. Great recipe. But I want to know about your pan - yeah - is it like a wok? And the brand or name? Thank you so much.
It's a Green Pan wok. I've had it for...gosh....four years. Found it at Target. At the time it did not come with a lid, fortunately I had one large enough already. I think these days the wok comes with a lid. I know Target still carries the Green Pan brand. They're reasonably priced, too. :D
Jill McKeever, Simple Daily Recipes Ok great, thank you so much for the reply. 🎈💕👍🏽
So does the black pepper give the tofu an eggy flavor? I got some, but I haven't used it yet. Also can I use purple cabbage?
The black salt tastes and smells like a boiled egg. It's weird and tasty all at the same time. If you decide to shop for it, go to an Indian grocery store. Don't buy it online, it's WAY overpriced online. I can buy a 8 ounce bag of it for $2 at local Indian grocery store around the corner from my neighborhood. You may find the store's smallest bag is still more than you need. Think about which of your foodie friends you could share it with. ;D
Where do you buy the chili paste? Any store?
+Cath Campbell it's available at my regular grocery store on the international foodie aisle. It's been around for years. Nothing new or unusual.
Need to pick up more liquid smoke. This sauce will be so versatile, that's for sure.
Hi Jill, is your pan still good? I got mixed reviews on Amazon. I'm still on the hunt for a good non stick non Teflon pan. Thanks for your videos! L x
CRACKED ME UP - YOU BUTCHERING PRONOUNCING SAMAL OELEK. ME TOO. HA HA!!
Wouldn't the tofu have been able to come off easier if you placed them on foil paper when baking them?
Probably. I don't keep foil on hand. It's really less waste for me to bake them straight onto the pan.
Was that sauce enough for the entire pound of pasta?
You're right! Great guess!
oooo oooo oooo water chestnuts
I know what you mean! I hate it when my husband liked something the first time, then the second time not so much. His phrase is, it's not my favorite, which means, I didn't like it. 🤔
What did Maggie eat? I have a picky eater too.....hate to make 2 meals every day, but...ya know.
Did you notice the pasta I kept back? She ate it with microwaved steamed broccoli topped with a little vegan margarine.
Oolalalaoo sauce 😄
My husband says "its okay" and then leaves most of it, when he doesn't like something. But then he would eat pasta and ragu sauce every day if I let him.
Yep, I've heard that line before around here, too.
❤️
om nom nom

STop buying him Cheetos. Those things taste awesome but they overstimulate the taste buds and make everything taste bland.
He's 71 years old, has his own income and buys them himself. He's bigger than me so I can't tackle him and take them away from him!
i call it sam ball oh lick... )
😇💜😇
Lol. “They don’t know what they’re talkin’ about. Make it!”
What the heck IS that ou la la sauce...is it chili paste? Lol
💕❤💕❤🌈💕❤💕🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈
why dont you use noodles? thats spagetti lol
+thisisyaren I cooked with what I had on hand. I don't typically keep noodles on hand.
ok makes sense lol. very interesting quick meal I shall try it. your videos are great from what I have seen so far
😇💜😇
