Hey Jill guess what?! I turned this recipe into a Chipotle-like burrito bowl. Black beans, brown rice, corn, salsa, the soy curls, and the spinach mix. Delish!! THANK YOU!!
Me, too. I've always struggled with cooking AND talking at the same time. 😆 Cooking is such a creative experience for me, I get lost in it and stop talking.
Soy curls are on my to be ordered list at Amazon. I'm ordering a smaller package there to see if I like them, before ordering a large box.I buy 10 to 12 lemons or limes at a time. Juice them all and freeze in ice cube trays. When frozen I loosely wrapped in parchment paper and store all together in a Ziploc bag. You can also freeze whole lemons and limes Then defrost in microwave. Love your videos!
+Kari B GET OUT! I like the way you handle your citrus! I'm going to try your way. THank YOU for sharing this with me. I can't wait to stock up on limes and lemons now. :D
You are so cool!! New to the ipot family, a little bit overwhelmed when I first got it, searched for RUclips recipes and so happy I found your channel! Thank you for helping me get more comfortable using the ipot! I'm making the vegan beef stew for the firsr time and the apartment smells so good!! Can't wait to eat! 😋
+SimpleDaily yes I marinated the mushrooms and grilled them no oil we don't need any oil 😀 and I had some spicy black beans slightly mashed, spinach, and diced red bell peppers and using my cuisinart griller I grilled my quesadillas delish drats I didn't take a photo of it. Thanks for the recipe I love you instantpot 😉
Oh....my....word....I just made this and the soy curls are SO good! In fact, I had to make another batch cause I ate most of the first batch while I was waiting for the spinach to wilt. AND, I just ordered MORE soy curls on Amazon. I had no idea! They are so good!
Hi Jill, If you are still looking for a good garlic tool, check out the Garlic Twister , it is awesome. you put the cloves in it and twist back and forth, no mess and it rinses out easily. There are cheaper knockoffs, but the best one (original and lifetime warranty) is by Nextrend, they have it at Amazon. I got the 8 quart ipot!! using both the 8 and 6 quart EVERY DAY!! love it! And appreciate you... you have really helped me learn how to use it! HUGS Jackie
just entering the plant base diet, and this is definitely one recipe i will try. Have a IP Duo and really enjoying it, and its a grinning experience watching your videos. You make them so fun to watch, keep up the great work and looking forward to more recipes for us newbs
Boy, Max is really getting up there! I used bottled lime juice, too. Sometimes I have to go for whatever is cheap: bottle, bag, can. Just use what you have. Can't have soy, so I think marinated mushrooms would be awesome. Something else that is good is a little yogurt with some chile powder stirred in, dollop it on the inside or spread it on top of the quesadilla like you would sour cream.
I would LOVE to have one of those Instant pots, unfortunately, at this time, I am not able...BUMMER!..I have had to switch to the Vegan way of eating, and I love it. I had a liver transplant and now with stage 3 kidney disease, I am trying to reverse my bad health. Love LOVE LOVE your videos and recipes.
God bless, I hope you are doing well. There may be organizations, even some churches in your area , If they know your circumstances they may get one for you.
super! will try.. and he is just adorable.. and yes have a hard time with limes.. they turn into little rocks soo quickly.. ( usually juice and freeze.. but I can see how havening a bottle of it around would be useful)
Have you tried making The Vegan Corner's no oil Mozzarella "cheese", Jill? They make three different flavours, and it looks like melted mozzarella with a bit of that stretchiness too! I'm gonna try those quesadillas with that on it. Yum!
It came out very good . I gave one to my son and he did not know there were soy curls in it , but he knows I do not eat chicken .. so I left it alone lol
3 months now and feel better than ever :) This is definetly the way to eat....too bad I didn't know about this plant based lifestyle sooner. Btw, hello from Killeen we are practically neighbors.
Made these tonight for dinner, this was so delicious. I wish I'd had some vegan sour cream or something like that for them. (I'm addicted to 'dipping sauces'.) Thanks for another FAVORITE recipe! :)
I can never keep fresh limes either. Bottled for me as well. HEB tortillas are the best! Never mind that you can buy them still piping hot. I snack on some on the way home every time!!
+Becca When the kids come with me to the store, I have to buy an extra bag of tortillas for them to munch while we shop. I admit I dig into them when the tortillas are hot & fresh.
+Carissa Lounsbury Let me know how they turned out! We had a thunderstorm come over to rain us out. I pulling out the grill when the sun comes back out.
Wish i had ur small counter top oven and the griddler,,, the soy curls we have a brand in Sweden called Oumph they look like your soy curls and they are soooo good, comes in many different spice mixes ( we have dried soy curls 2 but they are not as tasty as Oumph! ) Going to make your recipe tomorrow with Oumph! :D
This came at the perfect time I have all the ingredients for this in my house! I just got some more soy curls to use as the meat in some Bahn Mi's. And I also have tortillas in my freezer which is rare. It looooooks so good. :) I feel the pain of tall children, my nephews my two babies whose diapers I changed and I rocked to sleep are now taller than I am and it's horrible. I'm still the boss though so that's something. ;)
I wish I saw this last night before I made soy curls fajitas that I sautéed in a bunch of olive oil. Baking them without oil is genius and I'll be trying this method. You're not the only one that uses bottled lime juice. LOL... I love my garlic press, I've had it probably 20 years now.
Hi Jill! Here is the one I use on a daily basis: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017H7GIAY/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I used to just use a wooden reamer or a pair of tongs, but then I tried one of these that my friend had, and I'm hooked! I drink lemon water every morning and this makes it so much easier, and kind of fun!
Dinner tonight. I have a pan that has the ridges like the Griddler, so I may have to do a side at a time. Not sure I want to put it on my George Foreman. Not much room. I'm salivating already. :)
I'll need to try this one - it looks great! My boy looks to be about the same age (15 and around 6'1). Every video I see with your boy it makes me think they have similarities. (I also have a 10 yr old who wouldn't touch this :) ).
Thank you so much for your videos, Jill! I have had my IP for about six months and got your cook book a few weeks ago. Love the recipes I've made so far and can't wait to make more!! Is there a story about the bunny ears? They are adorable, but I would love to know why you chose them!
First, thank you for buying my book. I'm happy to know it's working for you. :D The bunny years started a couple of years around Easter. I had been wearing a silly hearts headband to lift everyone's mood when I posted to facebook. Well I found the bunny ears and decided to wear them in a video and the crowd went wild for them. So many shared how seeing me with them on lifted their spirits and helped make watching the videos more fun. A few times, I left them off in videos and fans cried out "Where's your ears?!" When I attend health conferences, I wear them; the ears help fans to spot me for photos together, book signings and hugs, lots of hugs. :D They have become a part of me and I don't mind it at all. They help people to remember me and make them smile.
I bought soy curls today after seeing all of your great videos using them. Question....I purchased them at a Seventh Day Adventist store and they buy them in bulk and re-sell them. He said they need to be kept in the refrigerator. Do you keep them that way? They look shelf stable to me.
Jill, I don’t own a Griddler at this point, but this yummy recipe makes me want one. Do you have much mess to clean up after using this device? Also, how to do clean it after use? Thanks for your response in advance.
Cleaning up that Griddler is easy. The nonstick plates pop out for rinsing in the sink, or dropping into the dishwasher. When I've cooked processed vegan foods, like plant-based burgers or sausages, clean up involves washing the grease tray under the griddle. It's really not a hassle to clean, just an extra step. I've yet to regret buying the Griddler I own. It's perfect to take camping, if you camp with electric hookups.
Max is SO FREAKIN TALL!!!!! I got a giggle when ya dropped that soy curl Jill. You know me so well *blush* . I too keep bottled lemon juice in the fridge and will be adding lime to the shelf. It's so much easier. Were you able to get that Yonanas machine today?

Quesadillas look great! I remember when my boys were taller than me one day, I'm 5'8", now one is 6'1" and the baby is 6'3". How come you don't have more subbies? SMH

Though I love fresh lemons and limes, I usually use the juice from the plastic bottles shaped like the fruit! :)

Dinner tonight. I have a pan that has the ridges like the Griddler, so I may have to do a side at a time. Not sure I want to put it on my George Foreman. Not much room. I'm salivating already. :)
Soy curls are cooked. All I can say is WOW!! I should have doubled the soy curls just to have half to snack on by themselves.
You need a microplane for the garlic. Works fantastic.
You're not the only one ..I use the bottle too 🙂🙂
+Mel issa Thank you for coming out with me ;D
Anytime 😁😁
I'll need to try this one - it looks great!

Oooh I am so going to make this into fajitas!
Same can’t keep a Lime for nothing 😅

What do soy curls taste like? Are they good?
They taste similar to chicken and yes they are very good.
+Jesika Kate On their own, soy curls are rather bland, they NEED spices. It's more about their texture that rocks everyone's world. Using a micrograter for garlic is much easier than using a garlic press!
where do you buy the soy curls?

Jill ~ have you tried their Chik-style seasoning? It seems pricy, but probably worth if it's good.
+Julie Trujillo I have purchased it in the past. I was not fan of the flavor. Plus, It had funky ingredients mixed in with normal spices. You can make better blend at home.
