That engine works at high rpm, the combination of cardan shaft transmission and differential makes it. the difference transforming into good torque which is why it sounds revved and goes slowly but surely

@@jaketrat3725 These engines are 2-stroke engines and during the 2-stroke cycle, the exhaust gases are let out at the same time fresh air is scavenged into the cylinder. While this is happening, more unburned fuel can exit the exhaust compared to a 4-stroke engine since it has less time to combust properly.

I'm 72 and still remember Earth movers w/ big Detroit's digging the expressway near my house. Some had engines on both ends and still a big old D9 Cat had to push them to get a full load. Great sound.

The problem with the old Detroit 2 stroke engines was they didnt produce much torque at anything except full throttle high rpms.

My first introduction to the Detroit V8 was when u was running a old American crane. It always sounded like it was running 8k revs . I was only 20 and thought I was gonna blow up a newly restored antique 😆.

Need to work on the tune up I can tell from the smoke and the sound the rack and injector settings are off and governor's set too low worked on the old two stroke Detroit's for years 6v71tuned right in that tractor shouldn't even slow down

Built a few of those, they use way thicker wall tubing than you normally do for that diameter. Also those "Rockwell" style ujoints are stronger than a traditional spicer type
