Tim Sandiford put this on in the car on the way to work back in the day (the day was a long time ago).!!!!!!!!!!!!!! still fucking good all these years later :D
Portnoy is a phenomenal drummer. I remember when I first heard his drumming with DT in 1998 on MTV watching their music video for “LIE” and at the time thinking just how beautiful his kit sounded.
3:19 - omfg...traffic blocked...some sort of serious stuff must have happened right away...accident? gas leak? Oh no...just a prog metal band filming their music video...good!
Came to make a comment about that too. There no special effects there. Just a band blocking one of Manhattan's tunnels for a video. I wonder how difficult it was to negotiate that.
I'm glad I heard that again. That was awsome. Big fan at 60. Makes me wanna do stuff my kids wouldn't do . ..hold it now, wait a minute. Just let me catch my breath.
Six Degrees disk one is my favorite dream theater moment, but they have gems through the entire discog, Nightmare to Remember is unbelievably good despite being much later.
I bought my Ibanez Universe UV7BK because of this video, which I saw when I was a boy. The image of that black/green guitar impressed me a lot. And that's an awesome guitar, indeed. I love it.

Happy "420" 55th birthday Michael Stephen Portnoy 04/20/67. His dad was a radio DJ and that gave him access to huge amounts of LP's. He developed a preference for Rush, Queen, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Iron Maiden, and the Beatles. Self taught on drums. Son Max plays drums too.
Probably recorded in the time between when kevin left and derek joined. Not as weird as seeing james murphy playing alex skolnicks solo in a testament video for an album he wasnt even on tho lol that was awkward
@@bigbabatunde1218 Wait, so you've never heard their second follow up album to this? Scenes from a memory? Because neither of these albums really compare.

I think this will always be my favourite DT video. For '94 i think it holds up really well! Weirdly, for me it feels less dated than some of there much later videos like Constant Motion for example

Images and words and Awake are the best Dream Theater's cds to the date
Dead on there....these two were my hayday at least lol

With how many people would disagree with you, I'd suggest you don't state that as a fact.
Yea along with Metropolis Pt2
Agreed. Kevin Moore is an important part of the equation for me.

After listening all albums there is no doubt James vocal was the best in Awake... amazing.
100% agree
After this album he had the food poisoning that broke his voice forever.
