    I am a novice. I just started doing wood cutouts for door hangers, such as rabbits for Easter etc. I love your videos!!! I ordered the Olson 5" scroll saw assorted blades. I can't wait to try them to sand small tight areas!

    Great work. Been using the same scroll saw I bought with my parents when I was 13. Turned 31 5 days ago and haven't used it in awhile and slowly getting back into it. Love the hobby and seeing other people's work.

    I just purchased a scroll saw off of Craigslist. I am a 58 year old grandma that just recently bought my first home. I have always thought about having a little wood working shop in my garage so I started with a scroll saw. I am kinda afraid to start since the only knowledge I have is off of the internet. Your video made it seem so simple. Thanks for help in getting my butt in gear! Look forward to watching your other videos!

    Fellow North Carolinian here, wanted to say thanks for the great video. Definitely trying this tomorrow. Just picked up a used (but in good working condition) delta variable speed 16" scroll saw from the pawn shop for a heck of a price and was looking for some ideas, and this is right up my alley. Thanks again, and keep up the fine work.

    i bought a scroll saw for my shop 6 months ago, and finally used it tonight. My first project was this design. I am an avid woodworker, but have never used a scroll saw before. Project came out fairly decent, for it being my first! Definitely need to invest in the sanding tool made for a scroll saw, as I'm sure it would make sanding so much easier! Thanks for the inspiration!

    This was pretty neat. I'm glad you decided to show the Olsen Sander, because I'm new to Scrolling & I primarily use the pinless saw blades for the sharp cuts & I sometimes end up with what looks like a chipmunk chewed on, LOL. I think it must be a common thing that we don't bolt our scroll saws down!

    • @SterlingsWoodcrafts
      @SterlingsWoodcrafts  9 лет назад +1

      I dont use a vacuum on mine, guess I should, but the port for the vacuum hose is on the front of my scroll saw and gets in my way, you could get a fish tank blower, and attach it to the top side to blow the cut dust off your pattern as your cutting

      Found out you can use those 1/4 in wide sanding strips on a DeWalt 788 scroll saw if you cut the plastic nubs off at each end.

    This little, cheap saw is not totally useless. When I bought my Ryobi, I kept my Central Machinery saw for simple projects like this. For projects that use pin end blades, it really is a good little saw.

    One of the best things I like about it is that it has a slot where you can put a pin end blade in sideways and use it like a bandsaw for making cuts longer than the throat is deep. On most scroll saws, you have to twist the blade to do that.

    • @SterlingsWoodcrafts
      @SterlingsWoodcrafts  9 лет назад

      Emmit Stewart Great point, you don't have to have the top of the line products to do what you enjoy, you can always upgrade, but you have to start somewhere, Thanks for the view and sharing

    Great project - good looking wall plaque from scrap! I especially like your tip about removing the glued-on paper! I have gone crazy with sanding off my glued on paper templates so I will try your technique. I assume the heat gun works only with the spray on contact cement?
