I noticed that in your last video when you first opened this Glengoyne 25yo you tipped it upside down a couple of time before opening it. Why? I've never seen that before.

well spotted my friend sometimes when the bottles have been sitting for sometime the cork dries...i have had some corks break on opening so flipping it just wets the cork...i also think it helps with the pop...i love the pop...i also turn my bottles in my collection regularly...hope that helps buddy...

I picked up a bottle of the 18 last year, and will open it eventually... The 25 sounds heavenly, but at 260 pounds, or about $500 CAD it's just not going to happen. I usually don't flinch at a price tag of $150-$200 CAD, but more than double that amount makes me run away!

Long time collector, first time viewer. I have to agree that this is one of the very best. When I finished my first bottle a few years ago, I just had to go out and get another! Now that I know we share some similar tastes, I will be looking a=back to your older reviews, and turning in to the upcoming ones! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and passion with us.

Very good review, love this dram enjoyed a sample last winter and can so understand why you like it so much. Agree with not adding water, Glengoyne generally does not need it once you go beyond the 18 year old.

I was lucky enough to score a bottle of this as a going away present from a recent job. I concur with your review it's a majestic dram. As you struggled, I find it impossible to find the words to adequately describe the unique combination of sweetness and dryness .... you have to taste this whisky to understand ... it's as if we need to invent new words to convey what's going on in the glass here.

I’ve been putting off opening this one mostly because I haven’t tried the 21 year old yet (I think that might’ve been the leaker sample), but I can’t wait to try it one day. I’ve actually purchased 2 of these so I won’t feel too bad about opening one. I’m excited to hear how much you like it. At least I know I haven’t purchased multiples of a dud ;). Great review Alan! Keep ‘em coming.

Fantastic video as always Alan. I’ve been a silent observer until this comment, but I sincerely enjoy the content. My local (USA) store recently received a couple bottles each of the 21 and the 25 in stock. While my purchases are usually very prescribed, I swallowed hard and purchased two of each. Substantial cost, but also substantial quality. I foresee these bottles rising in price rapidly, but as for me, I’ll be opening them. Cheers mate 🥃

the whisky friend I shall not. You really don’t think prices will rise? They jumped up $50 locally within the last 6 months. With the scarcity of sherry barrels these days combined with the prices being demanded by competitors, I would assume some consistent hikes. I’ll be drinking mine regardless, just hopefully for less money if I snag them now.

    Hi Alan,
Was lucky enough to grab 2 bottles around 350$ each (now it’s going for 550$) and waiting to pop the first one open in a special occasion. In my opinion even at 550$ it’s still a deal at 48% abv, non chill filtered and natural color. It used to be my darkest scotch before I buy Springbank 21 2020.

Great review & awesome to see you enjoy that beautiful Glengoyne 25! I’ve yet to try the 25 (harder to buy it since the 21 is so affordable 😂) but it’s def on the list. I have tried all the other younger age statements from 21 down & I’ve never had a Glengoyne I didn’t enjoy. Long may that last! 🥃😄

  • @thewhiskybowman

I've had a few Glengoynes, did the gold tour so got to try everything (bar the 15) up to the 21. Love them all. I am pretty certain I would love the 25 as well, but I just can't justify spending that much on a bottle, much as I want to. It's not that I can't afford it, I just have a very hard time convincing myself it is worth 2.5 times the 21. As good as it seems to be I can't see it being 2.5 times better than the 21. Maybe I'm just a skinflint! :D

I wanted to buy the 21, now I won't. Thinking about how to buy 25, the price is very high. But hope it's worth extra $$$. Fun fact - for that amount of money, I can buy 15 bottles of a solid local plum brandy that has matured in oak barrels for 15 years 😅 Great review sir!!!

Great review, Alan. Geez, you really know how to separate a man from his wallet! Still agonizing over this one. Would love to lash out on it but for the moment I’m content to have the occasional Teapot Dram as a poor man’s substitute (and that’s sooooome substitute!). Maybe this’ll come back into contention at Christmas time. Keep up the great work!

Great review ALAN. I’m new to the channel btw. I recently managed to get a bottle at £200 of Amazon but it’s gone back up in Price again now. Just waiting for that special moment to pop it open and share it. Btw I’m from the Manchester area I believe your in Stockport? Can I ask where your source most of your bottles ? We’re not exactly blessed with quality spirit outlets in this area to my knowledge so I presume it’s mostly Auctions ? Anyway I Look forward to more content Slainte 🥃
