My grandson has my 2005 Corolla also purchased new which now has 250000 miles on it. Original clutch. I had down my used vehicles so that the next generations can continue to enjoy their economy.
Matt, Heck Yes!. I have owned both cars a 2011 Corolla, and a 2007 Vibe. Both great cars. I have even owned Camry and a Lexus rx 300, all great vehicles but I can tell you the Vibe is my favorite, I have a black Vibe. I love how practical the car is especially the cargo room when you fold down the seats, I have brought home furniture in the back of my Vibe, people are amazed at the cargo space. I find the seats very comfortable, and I love the red guages, I have 125,000 on mine and it still feels solid, I have only had to put a new battery in, a new starter motor, and two new headlights, after 14 years. I get the oil changed on schedule. I know it is not a performace car, I dont need a peformace car, but love the practicality, and fuel economy. I am tall at 6 feet 4, and recently had major knee surgery, when I was getting in the car after surgery the extra headroom made it easy to get in and made it easy to get out. I loved my Corolla as well it was also a good car sad thing is mine got stolen, it was sad. Both cars show you dont have tospend alot to have a great car.
My husband and I were lucky enough to rent a Pontiac Vibe while in California in 2005. We loved it so much, we purchased a 2006 Vibe with only 500 miles on it from a fellow who won it in a golf tournament for hitting a hole in one. We got a great deal on it. Still have it today, in 2021, and we just purchased a 2009 Vibe with most of the bells and whistles, today. We're now a two Vibe family! Awesome vehicles!
We purchased our first Pontiac Vibe, with just 500 miles on it, in 2006. The seller had won it in a golf tournament and we got a heck of a deal. Still have it today, in 2021. We did have to put a new transmission in it, as well as new AC compressor. But, it is a fun, zippy, reliable car. So, this coming Saturday, we're purchasing a 2009 Vibe. We are sold on these vehicles. The 2009 has a lot of nice updates, including a 2.4 liter engine. I love your video, it is fun and keeps one informed! I think many folks have no idea that this has a Toyota drive train. Too bad for them, great for us! Yay!
My 2009 base manual vibe is still in the familly after 15 years, they were solid machine! Too bad they are not made anymore...and don't say the corrola hatch is a matrix! Maybe the cross is...
Bought my ‘06 vibe back in ‘08 for 2 main reasons. It was built by Toyota, and it was really the only small affordable hatchback at the time with AWD. Still have it nearly 15 years later and it looks and runs great!
230000 miles and counting on my 06. Besides preventative maintenance, I've had it to the shop 3 times in 15 years for a total of $1300 in repairs. AC condenser, powersteering leak, engine fan assy. This was all in the past 5 years. First decade was literally problem free. This is my daughter's car now for college
Ive always admired these cars and just bought one for my daughter who just went to college. Its a 2009 vibe with 161000 miles. They arent quite as cheap as they were a few years ago. I paid $3500 for it. However, there is not too much you can buy these days for that amount. It has the larger 2.4 liter engine. I was impressed with the ride and the pep it has after driving it to her 2 hours away. Im hoping it lasts her for at least a few years, which i think it will. Through my research, just make sure you look at the subframe (especially the rear subframe), especially when buying one from northern climates. If its rusted out, its a very expensive fix, and dangerous to drive.
I bought an 06 Vibe a few months ago. I love mine. I installed a touch screen stereo and replaced the alternator and it runs very good. It's also great on gas.
I just bought a 2003 Vibe. Single owner, 136,420 mile on it. $1,400. Runs fine. No issue. AC doesn't work, but it's a 20 year old car. There's a leak somewhere in the exhaust I have to find and patch, but it shouldn't be a problem. Love that you can put the back seats down and basically use it as a small work "truck."
we have a 06 vibe, bought it in 07 with 33k miles, as of today April 1, 2021 it has 219k miles and still going. the only thing it needs is a new paint job and a stereo with Bluetooth or a USB port.
Our family loves Vibes ❤️ . We have 4 of them. Two 09 GT’s, a Base 05 and a 10’ base 2.4 with 331,000 miles. We would have had 5 if my 05 AWD hadn’t been totaled. These cars are super easy to maintain since Corolla & Matrix parts are in abundance. 👍 I prefer second gen Vibes since those were a vast aesthetic improvement. First gens honestly are still very good cars!
Looking to replace our Odyssey that was recently totaled. Thought about a compact SUV like the CRV/RAV4, or a Venza/Crosstour sized car. But recently been looking at the Matrix/Vibes - for their better fuel economy yet practical storage space. Was a fan of them when they were in production and almost forgotten about these cars until I started watching Scotty Kilmer. Great video - it's nice to see so many Vibe owners/fans. hopefully I'll get one within the next month. Cheers, all!
Note: it’s even more identical to the Toyota matrix as it’s just a facelift of that car. It was produced separately though, despite identical parts they made the Vibe in its own factory in LA CA until the factory was sold to Tesla when Pontiac was killed.
I just got mine a 2006 vibe 1.8l base with 169k for $2500 but I also need to put a $1000 in parts for maintenance and cleaning but being a Corolla it's easy to work on !
I Love that the emblem and grill is the Fire Bird with it's wings outstretched. The emblem is the birds face. It looks to have grabbed the license plate like a fish and is flying off with it.
I have a Vibe AWD with 130k that runs like new and I love it. Like driving a walk-in closet. Goes anywhere, does anything. Perfect musician's car. Not quiet and cushy but fun to drive. Check the air-bag recall. Love the grass growing out of the cracks in your driveway!
No Regrets!! I have a 2006 Vibe 4WD @ 216,000k. Still runs like a top. Has been EXTREMELY reliable. I purchased it around 2009 at the end of the Pontiac Brand run. I've maintained the car extremely well. It's nice looking, great to drive, functional and frugal on gas; even if it's 4WD. I have a newer car for my travels now, so I use this one as my pick up truck. ... so to speak. You can't beat this car. It's a great all around vehicle. It's the last of the NUMMI Toyota/GM colaborations and their best one!
I have 220K miles on my 2003 Vibe. Bought it off my sister seven years ago at 68K on the odometer. So far it has needed the starter replaced (once) and the air conditioner pump (once). Yes, it is noisy by modern standards on longer trips. I keep ear plugs in the cup holder. It has survived four deer hits on the same right front corner with no visible body damage ( all hits at less than 35 mph). It still gets 32.5 mpg, though starting at 200K miles it did start using a half quart of oil between oil changes. My only complaint is that I bought some 'fits all models 2003-05' replacement head lights that can't be fully adjusted to the right position. Driving in the rain can be more of a challenge than I care for because of them. Unfortunately, the value of these cars isn't lost in the market place. Any Vibe in decent shape under 100K miles brings $6K or more. The GT's are almost gold now days. When this one goes, another Vibe will be my first choice, even though the newest ones are from 2009 production.
I would get the Corolla XRS it came with the 2ZZ-GE the Celica GT-S engine and was only offered with a 6 Speed Manual Transmission. I had an 06 Matrix XRS with the 2ZZ-GE the gears are extremely short you're constantly shifting like every 5 seconds until you get to 4th gear it's annoying every time you stop and go the downfall to the 2ZZ-GE it only takes premium Gasoline and it's less reliable then the 1ZZ-FE the number one issue on the 2ZZ-GE is the oil pump that can basically stop working at any given moment while your driving and there goes your engine. The 1ZZ-FE on the other hand before 2005 has high oil consumption due to it's piston rings design. The cast iron liners are thin and non-rebuildable. It will probably only last up to 400,000kms if it's maintained correctly and everything is in working condition, it takes regular Gasoline.
My experience. Yes you can sleep in it with a blow up twin mattress, it's tight with all your luggage. I prefer using a camping pad and sleeping bag as your luggage can fit on the other side of the car. Generally vibes need work when you buy them eg mine needed new ac condensor, new clutch and tires. In my area, i haven't seen a single yamaha tuned 1.8l gt 6 speed for sale in ages and yes it's a great drivetrain - if you can find it. Less fuel economy than the base but it redlines at around 8500rpm which is pretty crazy for this car. The base 5 speed is the way to go with normal 1.8l as the automatic is gutless, basically the auto shifts late causing the engine to rev high. I presume this might be the cause of the occasional engine/ head gasket failure seen in used cars of this type. The 2.4L should be steered clear of, as piston rings cause oil burning as the car ages.
Right on! I really, really want a GT too - they are becoming so rare. I asked around in the Vibe group I'm in to see if anyone would let me film a video with their GT - but no takers. Best of luck with your Vibe!
@@thirdhandmotors4540 Thanks man! Good luck in your search. Upon further look I found the GT takes premium gas apparently so probably wouldn't be feasible for me given the high gas prices in my area ($1.60/L regular currently), I'll stick with my base 5 speed lol
My partner has been looking for a car and I suggested a vibe due to its Toyota matrixness and generally lower cost compared to one. We just picked up an ‘07 yesterday and it’s honestly pretty perfect for the price. I’m surprised I don’t see it recommended more! I own a volvo c30 which isn't the most practical hatchback (but it is fun) so it’ll be nice to have something that can carry more

My 2007 Vibe is amazing. Someone totaled it and with 230,000 miles on it, I'm refused to surrender it and am going to fix it back up. It's running. Going to do the body work in Spring. I figure I'll get at least another 100K out of "Tuffy." She is the BEST and most reliable car I've ever owned.
Hey Matt... I'm Fiifi... about to purchase a 2010 Pontiac vibe gt manual transmission... I'm basically going to use it for ride hailing, is it advisable? Also what's the epa?
Looking at an 03 vibe awd. I'm in Massachusetts, so the awd would be useful in the winter. But is it crazy to buy such an old car? I want a car that will last 5 years without major repairs.
Buy any Vibe. Ive owned over 24 cars in my life NOTHING Ive ever owned was as durable and maintenance free as a Vibe. Nothing. And I have friends with them. Many way over 250k miles. Engine is fine , transmission is fine and same drive shafts. Fact! They are fricken amazing
@@anewtattoobynancy1 I had it safeties at a mechanics and the seller had full service history, sometimes you just get unlucky I guess. Also the starter went last month.
Well my birthday soon.... I love to get my first car.... Am going with the vibe .the only issue i don't have up to the amount so far saved less 200 😂.... I know Hod got me
They’re both pretty similar as far as functionality/practicality, but I wouldn’t recommend getting a Soul unless you buy one still under warranty. The one in the background is my grandmother-in-law’s, and she hasn’t had any trouble with it, but it’s a 2018 with only 24k miles. I work at a car lot & our mechanics all say Kia engines tend to fail due to GDI issues - one mechanic said he has put 3 engines into the same car. Long story short, if it’s between a new Soul or a Vibe, a new Soul would probably last longer if you took care of it. But otherwise, I’d go with the Vibe. If you get a 2009-2010, make sure to watch out for oil loss - they tend to burn oil, but are rock-solid reliable otherwise. Best of luck!
Whoops, sorry for the super late reply. I am 6'2", the Corolla's leg room is surprisingly fine. I just took a ~1200 mile trip in my wife's Corolla (the one seen in the video.) Best wishes!
I just bought a 2008 Vibe, with 275k on it.... I've been driving it for a few days, no super car but it gets me to and from work... As far as I understand mine only has a 1.6 in it.... Is this still a Toyota Engine? It passed inspection with flying colors and the mechanic told me if I take care of it, I might get 3-4 more years out of it.....
Are you in the US? All Vibes, to my knowledge, came with a 1.8L engine, either a 1ZZ-FE or a 2ZZ-GE (in the GT version.) if you pop your hood, look for one of those engine codes on a label either on the underside of the hood or near the radiator. Welcome to the Vibe Tribe though! Mine has 291k on it now, still running and driving great. Take care of it & I think your mechanic is spot on!
@@thirdhandmotors4540 I am in Canada when I ran the Vin said manufactured in South Korea and that it had a 1.6 litre with a whopping 103 bhp it's not a speed demon for sure but gets me to and from work! Thanks for the reply.
Right! I probably should have mentioned the Matrix in the video, but I didn’t have access to one and they’re closer to the cost of a Corolla than a Vibe. Thank you for watching!
The Pontiac Vibe is BETTER than the Toyota Matrix, because the Vibe is literally a Matrix with OnStar! The Vibe was a joint GM-Toyota venture, made at the NUMMI plant in California: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/NUMMI
@@thirdhandmotors4540 It is great that you acknowledge this but you were comparing apples to oranges comparing a Vibe to a Corolla as opposed to a Matrix. This is an oversight, not just an oops. If you don't have access to a Matrix, don't make the video. BTW, On-Star just left my mother on the side of the road in a busy city. Thankfully they had AAA as well.
202K miles on my 2004 Vibe. The only thing that always bugs me is the gigantic blind spot, but no problems and I wish they were still being made.
Fix your mirrors. I deliver for a living in my vibe and I love it because the lack of blind spots.
Hello. What blind spot?
I have a Pontiac vibe in 2008 I love it🚕
Thank you for the video I'm frustrated so trying to find one if they were that price I'd buy 2.
Built in the Freemont factory that now pops out Teslas. Surely, It's why -- from front-on -- the Model Y looks like the 05-06 Vibe
great outro! Love my vibe.
i got confused at the very begging and was not sure if i was watching a hoovies garauge or doug demuro video
That's what I was hoping for haha!
Don't know where those deals are found on vibe???? I'm in upstate NY still looking for one
I got a 07 Vibe that is Neptune blue, it was more expensive, but it's all mine and not giving it away, Seats are just too comfy!
Hah! That Doug DeMouro joke was great! I get it
Now days a vibe is as much as a corrolla and matrix
And the factory now makes Teslas (Fremont for the Vibe/Matrix)
Sold
Hey Matt... I'm Fiifi... about to purchase a 2010 Pontiac vibe gt manual transmission... I'm basically going to use it for ride hailing, is it advisable? Also what's the epa?
Are you in Ghana
@@dehauseyaw yes i am
The EPA is the Environmental Protection Agency.
There's a Vibe GT for 3700 with 131000 miles for sale as of Thanksgiving 2021. Seems kind of expensive
I wanted a 2007 Corolla but ended up with a 2008 vibe
MATT!!🖤🖤🖤✨
Charlie!!
The Corolla matrix it's the best!!!
Great video.
Bro this video is fucking hilarious
Some of those Vibes even come with AWD.
I just bought one 3 days ago. Drove it 50km it threw an o2 sensor code and the parking brake stopped working. Not looking great so far.
Did you fix it yourself or take it to a mechanic. Curious how much it cost. I’m probably buying one soon too 🤗
@@anewtattoobynancy1 I had it safeties at a mechanics and the seller had full service history, sometimes you just get unlucky I guess. Also the starter went last month.
@@TehPSFanboy things happen...a new starter is worth it. Keep on keeping on. Eventually you’ll just need to keep doing the basic stuff. Much aloha!
Pontiac for sure
Windows were down rained got wet .wipers windows are slow n sometimes the don't work can I fix it
Well my birthday soon.... I love to get my first car.... Am going with the vibe
.the only issue i don't have up to the amount so far saved less 200 😂.... I know Hod got me
Great video!!!
Pontiac Vibe or Kia Soul? I'm deciding between the two and I saw you have both
They’re both pretty similar as far as functionality/practicality, but I wouldn’t recommend getting a Soul unless you buy one still under warranty.
How tall are you? How's the Toyota leg room like?
Whoops, sorry for the super late reply. I am 6'2", the Corolla's leg room is surprisingly fine. I just took a ~1200 mile trip in my wife's Corolla (the one seen in the video.) Best wishes!
Bravo excellent review
Pontiac vipe 2006 que transmission tiene?
Vibes are great....however, don't get a 5 spd manual : they have bearing issues!!
@@thirdhandmotors4540 I apologize, I thought it was a Vibe when in fact it's a Pontiac Wave. I feel like a dummy. Hhaha
@@HardTrancid Haha no problem! I think those are based on a Daewoo. Decent cars from what I hear.
Can you. It a new crate engine for these ?
But the Vibe looks way better!
Was that a school project you get an a
Corolla vs chevy prizm
Here's why you should buy some Roundup
Haha great video 👍
The vibe doesn't get the corolla mileage.
You're not comparing like with like. You should have reviewed the Vibe against the Corolla Matrix, not against a Corolla 🙄
Does the vibe have a aux input ?
mine did
The pontiac vibe is just a rebadged toyota matrix.
Right! I probably should have mentioned the Matrix in the video, but I didn’t have access to one and they’re closer to the cost of a Corolla than a Vibe. Thank you for watching!
It faded cz of frequent recalls though the car came from the same plant operated by GM Toyota under Toyota supervision
A Vibe is much closer to a Matrix than a Corolla. There is enough misinformation on the internet. Please don't add to it.
Y some people are so stupid, one is miniwagon and other is a sedan, I think is the minimum.
It's a California Made Matrix is all.
Toyota Reliability is all.
BUT you can buy Camry parts easy & more confidentlyy than the Vibe parts. Pontiac is no longer.
i wanted to slam a vibe at one point 😭
The Vibe is a modified corolla.
Thanks man. Get better microphone for your videos.
my parents having both lol
Is this guy happy?😂
Have you seen the matrix, it's the original toyota.
i fuck with the video lmao funny lowkey
well umm fucking update lmaoo i got a vibe 06 lmaooo fucking love it had it for 2 weeks
👍
American politics be like

Great video. Thanks buddy👍👍👍
