  • A quick look at our current cabin setup as well as some future plans we have for it. This will be our base point for us to look back at later and see how we started. The goal is to have a lot change from this winter to the next - and we have no doubts there are huge changes ahead for us.

I enjoyed the tour. You have done so much. I admire you. You are strong young people. You need a good floor where the baby can crawl. When your baby comes you will be able to do very little what building concerns. 😊

For safety you need to put door alarms on your cabin this way it will let you know if someone or something trying to get inside it gives off a sound that can be heard all thru the cabin

With the amount of time you had to get this cabin up, a heat source, a water source, you have done awesome! I have come across vinyl flooring on garage sales, that was brand new, and pieces of carpet left from big floor jobs, if I find any I will give you a shout out..
Cody you are a jack of all trades, what you want to build you find away, youtube ect. I can't wait to see the shiplape, and sheet rock will look amazing, and tile. Every video you have accomplished something you two! You have proven the Karen's that were bashing you in the beginning, were wrong. Great accomplishments and looking forward to what's to come.

The two of you have done a wonderful job of making a home in the short amount of time in Alaska. The kitchen looks like a large area and you'll have lots of food storage with cabinets. Wish the bedroom was larger, where will you fit a crib for the baby?I might temporarily take out one of the couches and put my bed there, like what you would see in a studio apartment. Might not be so easy going up and down with an infant. Keep the good work. You are so talented in all you build. Have a good week.

Awesome job. It's amazing. And the cabinets will be important especially with the baby etc. BTW when the baby is newborn you can use a laundry basket with a few layers of foam for a mattress. Saves space as you are building all the storage plus east to move around
I'm guessing that you will be building a bath house with maybe laundry. Stay strong. Enjoy the warmer weather and keep going

Wow! Nice job! It's amazing how much work you've accomplished is such a short time. Love it.
I do have some recommendations. The stove placement - may want it further back towards the back wall so it's not the appliance you walk by in the walk way. Hot oven, small space and in the foot-traffic area is never good. Perhaps allow space for a small counter as a buffer. The other suggestion is perhaps utilize under the stairs space as a closed closet storage space. Your home lacks these much needed spaces. Food for thought.
I thoroughly enjoy the videos and seeing the day to day life in Alaska. Great job!!

Found you on my feed today and I’m very impressed with your place . It’s quite large and apparently you are going to need the extra space. With that large stove the lofts should be plenty warm. How long before the baby comes home. That entrance is nice and large enough for anything. I’m going to be joining you on your further adventures.

You could blow those sloping walls outward with some shed dormers in the future to give more space and even add rooms on to the side of the a-frame. You could fill in that front porch with a wall and make a temporary work shop until you can build a formal one later. You can put a deck on the back with a covered roof and straight up walls to create an additional bedroom for all the children as you family grows. Plus you could then put in a back door as a safety exit in case of a blaze, etc.
