A Nice video tutorial. I wish that I had found it before upgrading mine. My model came with the 250GB M2, but no SSD/HD. After trying and failing to find matching ram, I ended up just going with a whole new set of 16gb (32 total) sticks that really helps to run most games as my model only came with a GTX 1050. I can say that the first time opening it is a real pain as the snaps are really stubborn.

What is macrium and what does it do? also if the hp pavillion already comes with 8gb can you just buy the 16 and make it 32? Im just a gamer wanting to try and run bigger games. macrium is the software that is used to clone the Windows 10 to the SSD so will run faster. Yes in terms of gaming i think 16 GB will be ok

Hey so after adding the SSD did you convert it to a GPT OR MBR ?? please help I did all the steps but when I go to my boot loader option there it shows only Toshiba HDD , but in windows both SSD & HHD are detected

@@KLGamers I had the same issue. I solved it by pressing F9 on the Bios Options. Then I highlighted (just highlighted, not pressed enter or anything) my new SSD Drive, then, having it highlighted, I pressed F10. I was able to see my new SSD Drive as a boot option and could follow with the process. Also, before following this tutorial make sure to update your BIOS from this webpage (in HP's case): support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/laptops

Your laptop will perform better if u use same brand and same memory ram type , it will work on dual channel. Since ur previous ram is 1Rx4 and new one is 2Rx8, so might give u issues.

increase hp pavilion i5 9th gen ram to 32 gb will not help much. 16 gb is more than ok. try lower your graphics settings and or record quality. Should upgrade to SSD

There was a protective peel on the thermal pad i think and u havent removed it. The SSD is going to get hot.

Usually you can add another 8GB RAM because have 2 RAM slot. Cannot add another M.2 due to only have 1 M.2 slot. Maybe another SSD 2.5 inch

The only bad part was cloning the dirty install of Windows. Do a clean install from USB next time

I think you can replace the HDD that comes with it with a SATA SSD but not recommended Nvme m.2 is much faster

SSD is instslled and visible in Windows but the problem is that its not detecting in BIOS.I have the same BIOS as shown here for my HP Pavillion. It reflecting in Legacy mode in BIOS but the problem is that UEFI has higher priority than Legacy so the SSD is not changing to boot status

maybe you disable the secure boot ? switch UEfi boot/ legacy boot
