In upper Rauh there is a birdman omen/beast warrior enemy who drops a pair of trousers which increase kicking attack's damage. You can use them with Dane's footwork.
The Greatsword of Solitude was my MVP weapon for the DLC. A-scaling in Strength, the old reliable greatsword moveset, a really good AoW that obliterates enemy poise, and a stupid high physical block rate perfect for guard counters. Its only real weakness is that it can't be infused, but outside of that it can basically do everything and do it really well.
I"m Surprised it didn't make the cut. Its AOW is awesome and great Strength scaling. Also it looks exactly like the Guts Dragonslayer from Berserk which gives it bonus points for style
The main problem for me was that you can’t buff it with basically any Talisman or Cracked tear besides Shard of Alexander, as I said in a comment at this video, if the follow up attack was charged and the Two handed Talisman worked on AoW that are just hitting the enemy with the sword while two handing it, this weapon would be a beast
@marceloxaustivo784 Its great block rate makes it a good match for a curved sword talisman/two handed weapon talisman combo with the deflecting hardtear because the greatsword guard counter is really fast and lets you duck horizontal attacks from bigger enemies. You can weave multiple guard counters on certain combo strings from the DLC's final boss without getting hit once if you learn the proper timing. The AoW doesn't synergize with a lot of talismans outside of SoA, that's true, but the high poise damage it deals + the fact that it's a ranged attack with an optional gap-closer follow-up means it's a reliable source of good damage even when you aren't built specifically for the AoW.
The ancient Meteoric Ore greatsword has become my favorite weapon across all Fromsoft games. It has the classical colossal sword unga bunga moveset, complete with the R2 poke I love, and gets a totally unique and badass ash of war. And the Ash is the perfect complement to the Colossal moveset. The fact that you can do just the thrust without the explosion is amazing. It opens up so many more punish opportunities that other colossals just don’t get due to the speed, versatility and range that the thrust covers.
2:18 useful tip: the reason as far i can tell is that colossal weapons are actually split between “colossal axes” and “colossal hammers.” Colossal axes generally deal more damage while colossal hammers deal more stance damage. So, If your colossal weapon looks/acts like a hammer, chances are its one of the higher poise damaging ones, but if it looks like an axe, itll be one of the lower poise damage ones.
Actually, the "Star-lined Sword" Katana in PVE is actually pretty darn amazing and should have been on the list. It has a standard Katana moveset, so that includes poking, and the ash of war is more than just flashy. It staggers almost any enemy outside of some big ones. The flame knights in Shadow Keep? Get staggered on EVERY slash of the combo, and it is quick enough to get a second combo in before they can act, usually killing them through bleed proc. It is quite an amazing weapon I must say :)
Ever since I found that sword on my dex/int build, I've been running it along with cold hand to hand arts. Not only is the star lined sword very effective with damage and staggers, but it's weapon skill is one of the most visually pleasing if you're into star themed weapons like wing of Astel.
yep, the AoW is a bit underappreciated due to it's long animation, but it microstaggers every base enemy on every single hit on top of it's bleed build up and pretty solid damage.
@@jenniferhayto4341for 5 minutes if you block right before the hit, the block will consume basically no stamina, reduce the dmg taken if you don't have a 100% phys shield and if you do a guard counter, your guard counter will do 40% more dmg Dane's Footworl for some reason does 2 instances of dmg instead of 1 when you guard counter, so double dmg with the bonus from deflecting hardtear and double stance dmg
@@jenniferhayto4341 to add, you will actually take no phys damage if you block at the right time. It wont block all other damage types though, just reduce it. I think the guard damage boosts increases with each successive perfect block but I am not certain. For reference, using just the guard counter boost talisman I was doing upwards of 3.5k in the dlc on a 60/60 quality build.
I feel like they do way too little dmg imo. The ash of war and moveset are good, but curved sword power stanced outdamage it by a lot and apply bleed better
"Samurai vs ninja" ahh fight. Absolutely incredible Also to be honest, with "blind spot" skill, there isn't really a fight that won't be fun :D It just gives you the sense of power and control than no other ash can. No one just can do shit, because nob matter what they do - you're already behind them, plunging that sword into their back >:3
Gotta say, my new favorite weapon has to be Devonia's Hammer. Yes, it's slow as a colossal weapon and yes its AoW is a slower Ordovis Vortex, but i love the huge damage numbers and it looks so sick
If you have enough levels to get a ton of int and faith then not only does Smithscript cirque get more elemental damage as the basic backhand blade, but it gets ALOT more overall damage. With 80 int and faith, 40 dex and 16str a sacred ash of war (blindspot can be sacred) you get 859AP without any talisman or DLC bonuses while the backhand blade gets only 681. That is a difference of 178. The difference with magic is even bigger with Smithscript cirque getting 867Smithscript cirque that is 188AP more than the regular, but with magic you don't get access to blindspot so sacred is a far better option even with a little less AP. So the Smithscript has far more damage scaling if you have the levels for it.
@@CZProductions naw. This is a single player game. All DS games are. They just threw on co-op for players that need to git gud and PvP for players that like to grief. They’re all single player at heart.
Anvil hammer hits SO damn hard, it's probably my new favorite colossal weapon lol. You can just spam the ash and shred just about anything, especially bigger bosses since all of the spears hit. Really awesome weapon.
I agree. I LOVE the AH. It hits harder than the Giant Crusher, it swings SO MUCH faster, it knocks down just about every regular mob, and poise breaks every enemy I've seen (about half way through the DLC right now) in less than four hits, three if you're double handed. The AoW is also top tier, but my technique has mostly consisted of two handed heavy attack spam and heavy armor to tank hits mid-combo. It's top five weapons in the game in my opinion, but I'm also a little biased when it comes to BONK.
Event though it's still no Ledos Great Hammer the Anvil Hammer is so good. The lingering spears on the AoW are good for PvE and PvP and the it being fire damage means you can throw oil pots at people and pop them for good damage on any light or heavy attack.
I mean, as pointed out in the video: The problem with the Anvil Hammer is that the ash of war is a straight downgrade from eruption. It has the exact same animation, but eruption has way more damage, poise dmg and aoe. And you have a new magma talisman that just furthers the gap even more now. The idea is cool, but why this unique ash of war is such an immense downgrade from the base game one, only Miyazaki knows.
@@dshearwf and he's completely right. But what we're saying is... You don't need the AoW. Just two hand bonks, all day long. Hits like a truck and much faster. So fast, boooiiiiiiii I'm just saying that the regular attacks more than make up for the underwhelming ash. In my opinion, I wouldn't be so quick to write it off. It's just a FUN weapon.
I agree, it's so much fun. If the AoW had a little more stance damage it would be a perfect weapon. Not sure why they nerfed the spear when there are dozens of more broken weapons than this.
Flowerstone Gavel being a Dragon Cult weapon (Florissax gives the dragon cult form and serves Placidusax so I consider it Dragon Cult and not Dragon Communion) that scales off of Arcane is such a huge miss. Having a weapon for pure faith builds to debuff enemies against lightning damage would've been so great to combine with Ancient Dragon Lightning Strike, and even the new Knight's Lightning Spear incantation.
like how she herself plays, they likely want you to spec into faith arcane and use dragon communion incants too for the full dragon build. how good that is is up to interpretation but i had 36 fth, 53 arc (mainly for requirements but decent breakpoints) with drag com seal and was doing very good damage with lightning incants
Just invest 17 points of faith into your arcane build. Use Dragon communion seal and Ancient Dragon's Lightning Strike. Easy profits with this hammer. It also gives arcane builds a Non bleed option to deal with bleed resistant enemies and has pierce damage.
@@borisdragosani7584 Notably they did have non bleed options with one having pierce damage in the form of Regalia of Eochaid and Marais Executioner Greatsword. My complaint is theming more than mechanical. Giving Arcane a lightning option not tied to faith is good, but with everything about Florissax reeking of Ancient Dragon Cult it feels like a missed opportunity. Faith builds are hella spoiled in the DLC though so Arcane getting another option was nice.
That's a good point. Where you see it as a miss, I see it as somewhat of a dub for the few people who want more options for an ARC dragon warrior build. From my perspective there has never been any love towards people who want to use dragon communion and those spells with more than just a few viable weapons that would make sense from a lore perspective. I am close to trying it out though, so I could be extremely incorrect by the end of tonight
I think the current fire knights greatsword is underappreciated since it has a damage level higher than the godslayer greatsword, it can interrupt some additional enemies and true combos more enemies. Flame infusion also gets monsterous AR and is probably the best user of the top tier fire knight ash of war.
Yeah he was actually wrong about being weaker than other colossal gs infusing with flame art with that new messmer aow brings this swords ar to one of, if not the highest dmg colossal gs.
@@562SammyJames when I said damage level, I meant the AtkParam. Damage level determines hitstun, he said it was bugged in PVP but it's just overtuned in general. There are enemies that ignore the hitstun from the godslayer greatsword that do not for the fireknight greatsword or attacks with the same damage level. He's right that if you don't use fire or flame infusion then it's weaker but why does that matter when it's so incredibly better than other colossal swords in its domain.
Dude FireKGS and Zweihander are only for people with great taste, don't let the words of some shitmuncher cloud your judgment, I'm RL150 on NG+7 and Fire Art FKGS is love, with bloodhound / quickstep ash the game is so much more fun than spamming the fancy broken youtubers vomit
@@anthonyaugustine3292 yeah I understood you, I was simply stating that very few weapons have a second dmg sources, in this case fire, that scales with an attribute and can still be buffed. The spear that drops from the mudmen in ainsel river has innate magic damage that scales with int and can still be buffed with magic weapon sorcery. This greatsword is incredible on top of the pros you mentioned!
I can’t believe how low its drop rate is. At least you can reset the mob quickly but I spent two hours farming it and no drop even when dressed in my full arcane boost set
I have 54 STR and infuse my Fire Knight Greatsword with Fire...and I had no idea that with this infusion, the damage is increased while two-handed with both physical and fire damage. So, it is not only viable for Faith builds with Flame Art.
Great stuff as always- i’d also just like to point out that when you’re using the red bear claws, it’s safe to assume you have the rotten sword, insignia, and corresponding cracked tear- toss another buff on top of that, and the damage from connecting the complete AoW is jaw dropping. I got relanna on the ropes and homegirl got absolutely dog-walked. Less than a minute
I started ng+ after beating the dlc, started using the death knight longhaft axe. The sheer pleasure of I-framing through Margit's hammer just to stagger him with the follow-up made it my favourite new weapon.
the executioner's axe was my very first playthrough weapon and the longhaft axe just reignited the love (especially because greataxes are soooo much stronger than they were on ER release lol)
My current build is Int/STR and Waves of darkness on my Great Sword is also a perfect counter. Feels great having the enemies come to you so you don’t have to chase them around and you can hear the “oh shit” as you poise their attack during the ash of war start up. Tossing corpses aside with the guaranteed heavy finisher. The moment I started the DLC I turned taunted tongue on and got the same invader 3 times. Nearly killed me the first time as I obviously had not seen the ash before but he died all 3 times to the same move.

@@drudge5268 Carian Thrusting Shield(as of now) is insanely strong and takes ZERO stamina damage while shieldpoking. But this is likely a bug. It also has very strong guard counters that block through the animation.
Dont sleep on the Rakshasa Great Katana. It has really good dex scaling and the AoW is basic AF but it gives hyper armor and procs bleed fairly quick since its multiple swings.
The *Poisoned Hand* is low-key a MONSTER of a utility weapon to have with Pure Arcane setups; this will allow you to have BOTH Kindred of Rot AND Lord of Blood Exultations at the same time as well as the Mushroom Crown! (Or White Mask to allow heavier armor/you don't like how stupid the former looks) *Proc Bleed and then proc Poison with the help of Poison Spear-Hand Strike* and with all four buffs active (It can be tricky to do at times), you'll end up with a whopping *70% AR BONUS*
use blood venomous fang and enjoy comfy status effects procs with crazy amounts of ar. only downside is range but we have the poison flower blooms twice now. easily one of the best and "easy" builds in the game
yeah i didnt think much of it on first finding it but the ability to basically instant proc deadly poison and have a THIRD poison proc damage buff to stack is wild. will have to give it a real shot some time
Could u help me build around it? Im level 156 mainly faith/dex and i do not want to level up in the DLC. I want to do complete spec redesign and arcane is so appealing to me now, maybe mixed with strength?
i'm happy to see poisoned hand so high up, i had a blast playing it but sadly i'm not skilled or pacient enough to use it on most bosses because of the atrocious range, but it was fun to use it on everything else and it felt amazing to defeat some bosses using it.
I absolutely love the carian thrusting shield, I rock a pure int build with a cold infusion, a couple projectiles and scholars shield. The moveset is one of my favorites and it's so fun
Red bear claw is very lethal in PvP, I tested it trading blows with backhand blades. It has true combo AoW, 1 hit of it and you're done even if you have 2K HP.
Good list. I see a lot of people like leda’s sword. Mainly because I notice most people run to faith builds instead of magic/sorcery because of the buffing/healing it offers. So I’ve decided to not ever play faith based just because everyone does. IMO The backhand blade is the best in game for pve it is imo broken. I use my regal staff frozen armament coat the blades in ice and literally just dance around those fire knights in shadow keep and wreck them in five seconds. Then I keep comet in my arsenal for when I need a ranged attack. That’s literally all I do right now till I find a cooler weapon which I’m trying to get sword of night rn good video thx!
Really appreciate this no spoiler content. I basically had a good little spurt of the DLC to start and then went on holiday. Beat the first area and a bonus place with a friend Igon cheering me on, and trying to keep in the dark as much as possible but can't resist watching all the new stuff get played with. I've really loved the new stuff I got to play with already. Milady, backhanders, and great katana have all been really good. Also tried the swift spear thingie but that did seem a little lackluster and didn't see much use, and same for the dragon katana unfortunately. It didn't even feel particularly strong against dragons, which was disappointing. I think I picked up the poison hand so I made a mental note to put that to use with my dex/arc build as a boss poisoner, kinda just glossed over it when I found it. I've been a little disappointed with the lack of proper new pure strength weapons for when I start on the DLC with my bonk guy, but seems like there are some cool somber stuff I can make work with some minimal faith investment. Looking forward to that as well now.
Longhaft Axe is my choice. Looks amazing with my death knight set and the dash into heavy attack feels good. The damage isn’t that great, there are better options for Faith / Str, but the weapon somehow feels so so satisfying to use.
Great Katana is just perfection (both PvP and PvE). Not some busted garbage, not unusable garbage, versatile, well balanced, stylish and satisfying to use.
@@rxsta yep, if you input a direction while you hit the front button, you can spin in that direction and your character only moves when the attack comes out... Idk if it's useful tech, but it's something. It's really cool.
The patch might be coming, but I would still love to see you rank all the weapons of the DLC. Hell, I would even want to know your opinion on how they compare to all the basegame weapons once the balacing settles down. Keep up the good work! Love the content.
If you watch his streams, he has to use them each extensively to rank them, 30 mins to an hour on various bosses. It would take at least a week more. Not a good use of time when they're all about to change, and he's already been working overtime hours to put out a video a day. And then there's the issue of it being difficult to objectively rank things that come down to playstyle like ranking shields, staves, and weapons all in the same video.
The Bloodfiends Arm is what pushed me past Promised Consort Radahn. I didn't think anything about it when I found it, but after testing it out it really is almost unmatched for bleed build up.
No way a bow is on the list but rellanas twin sword is not. 1. Amazing light greatsword moveset and even better dual wielded. 2. Weapon skill can deal magic and fire dmg, and good against sibgle and multiple enemies. 3. The normal attacks also deal magic and fire damage [also physical] 4. Can proc the multihit talismans very fast 5. Can be buffed with rellanas cameo 6. Insane late game potential because you can pump your points into so many stats like strenght, dex, int, faith. Thats at least a 10th place for me.
Maternal Staff when paired with Staff of the Guilty and Impenetrable Thorns while going full arcane is absolutely disgusting. Rivals the perfume bottles and the bloodfiends arm. I four shot Radahn on NG+ with it.
Im pretty sure regular one. I had the build on ng plus 3 and was only able to 9 shot him still crazy good damage but not 4 shot. I might have done somthing wrong tho@@pedropaulo13220
Yes, but this is the case with albinauric staff as well, and is more a facet of Impenetrable Thorns being broken than it is the staff itself. I understand why Youwy left it out.
Ansbach is german. It's hard to transcribe it but the a's are long a's, "aa" like in british english, and the ending sound is more of a "kh" rather than "ch". "aansbaakh"
Bear Claws should be way lower on this list for a few reasons. 1.) Can't change the Ash of War or scaling. 2.) Doest get an A in strength at upgrade lvl 10. Nor does it have a arcane scaling. 3.) It's 1 of 2 weapons in this class and the other can do everything thing I just mentioned 4.) The Ash of War is very buggy. Some times it will dump loads of dmg, and other times it will only partially hit. 5.) Let's be honest you are only going to be using the weapon with the bear armor. So build diversity with this weapon goes nowhere P.S. the Dragon Slayer Katana really should have had arcane scaling to match with Dragon communion builds since it does get the redish communion effect.
Rakshasa's GK is my baby! Nothing too flashy but realiable as hell and the pokes for heavies is crazy good. Messmers Impaler would be a go to of mine if it got a regular charged heavy. The throwing is cool and all but feels lacking against bosses, the aow is goated but you have to use it very smartly. Dex builds and dex/faith builds eating good this dlc. The martial arts are very average tbh, they only shine with cold or bleed and at that point id much rather backhand blades. Also with Sword of Night, the uncharged aow can be very useful as it comes out very very fast
Gotta say as a perfume enjoyer myself, rolling sparks is only KINDA broken. Its absolutely broken, but only specifically when you free aim it at the ground or other terrain object, which can sometimes be tricky to land against certain enemies, of course when it does land perfectly it destroys everything nearby, but i really hope they take a nuanced approach to balancing it rather than just tanking the damage into the ground and washing their hands of it..
Man… I hate how most cool weapons on the DLC are Arcane based. The Flowerstone Gavel and the Ore Blade with white lightning. Strength + Arcane, WTF? Even stronger because of that Bleed infused 200 Bleed heavy weapon! Miyazaki forgot the his build synergies. Nobody did Strength+Arcane before. It was Dex+Arcane!

Im kinda shocked that nobody listing the Star-Lined Sword katana. For me the special of this weapon has one of the best movesets in the game. So quick for a katana and This things Is a literal messmer melter(since he is weak to magic damage). It went through him like butter. I found it much more pleasant to use than most of the weapons on this entire list.
He really doesn’t like rellanas twinblade huh… its my main weapon rn and i find it amazing especially the moveset, i nuked Gaius with it and killed him under 20 seconds lmfao, love the list though.
spear of the impaler's basic moveset apart from the weapon art is actually kind of ass with its incredibly slow r1s that just kill you whenever you try to use it on a boss BUT i did manage to kill the divine beast in like 2 tries because i only found him after messmer and just used the weapon art 3 times on him in a row
What about sword of solitude and renallas twin blade? I made builds with these 2 and love it! Using Millicent prosthesis and rotted wing talisman brings the best of renallas blade, so much that I don’t even use the AoW Sword of solitude felt awesome too, with quick and heavy attacks and an amazing AoW Plus de A scale in Strength
Leda's sword ash of war also removes buffs, debuffs, and status on enemies if hit with any of the projectiles as well, making it a better version of law of regression only applied to enemies instead of both you and the enemy. I believe that's why the damage isn't as high as most would like.
I think you’re sleeping on the beast claws a little. Savage Claws can also be found in the dlc and put on the regular beast claws, but the Raging Beast AoW is a dodge just like like backhand blades. Add in bloodflame blade and you turn into a blender
For anyone interested in great katanas but saw Rakshasas and got scared of the extra damage taken - it's only like 2% AND the weapon has the Zwei Heavy attack poke, try it out!

Yeah I'm surprised he overlooked it - but we know the truth. Love that sword
Deflecting Hardtear Dane's Footwork build is fun and does good damage. Really liking the hand to hand combats.
Im still not fully understanding how this tear works.. currently using danes footwork but how does it help this build??
@@jenniferhayto4341for 5 minutes if you block right before the hit, the block will consume basically no stamina, reduce the dmg taken if you don't have a 100% phys shield and if you do a guard counter, your guard counter will do 40% more dmg
Dane's Footworl for some reason does 2 instances of dmg instead of 1 when you guard counter, so double dmg with the bonus from deflecting hardtear and double stance dmg
@@jenniferhayto4341 to add, you will actually take no phys damage if you block at the right time. It wont block all other damage types though, just reduce it. I think the guard damage boosts increases with each successive perfect block but I am not certain.

I love greataxes in Elden Ring in general, they are so good. Just having the mobility with a nuke attached to it it's great.
The backhand blades against Malenia make it an incredibly fun fight

Also to be honest, with "blind spot" skill, there isn't really a fight that won't be fun :D
It just gives you the sense of power and control than no other ash can.

So fast, boooiiiiiiii
I'm just saying that the regular attacks more than make up for the underwhelming ash. In my opinion, I wouldn't be so quick to write it off. It's just a FUN weapon.
I love the hammer but it’s so big that it covers some of the enemies so you can’t see them :’(
Kinda surprised Rellana's twin blades didn't make the list. Still good choices, though!

@@borisdragosani7584would the dragon communion seal be better than the gravel stone?
Dude FireKGS and Zweihander are only for people with great taste, don't let the words of some shitmuncher cloud your judgment,
I'm RL150 on NG+7 and Fire Art FKGS is love, with bloodhound / quickstep ash the game is so much more fun than spamming the fancy broken youtubers vomit

*Messmers Soldiers have entered the chat* "Spear gang we up!"
Every time i've seen a swift slash spammer, Flowerstone Gavel tracks, shocks them, and a multi thunderbolt follow-up sends them back home packin.
So... the real question. Is there anything better than the blasphemous blade?

Truth be told the strongest weapon in the game is the motivation that Igon and Ansbach gave you
Not ONE int weapon on this list??? Miyazaki has forsaken us

My favorite thing with the twin axes is unlocking to blink in a random direction, even away as a dodge, then lockon for the followup spin
Love the Great Katanas Moveset. Cant get enough of the Monster Hunter Longsword moveset.
Also those roll pokes are awesome
Bloodhound step + Great Katana roll attack and the follow up 2nd poke is so solid. Great range and fast for the fast DLC bosses.
Great Katana is just perfection (both PvP and PvE). Not some busted garbage, not unusable garbage, versatile, well balanced, stylish and satisfying to use.

Just because you started the “only a X percent of you are subbed” line and turned it into a joke, I subbed, well played sir
Even though you were kidding about the subscription stats at the beginning, it gave me a chuckle. Subbed.

3. The normal attacks also deal magic and fire damage [also physical]
4. Can proc the multihit talismans very fast
5. Can be buffed with rellanas cameo
6. Insane late game potential because you can pump your points into so many stats like strenght, dex, int, faith.

Maternal Staff when paired with Staff of the Guilty and Impenetrable Thorns while going full arcane is absolutely disgusting. Rivals the perfume bottles and the bloodfiends arm. I four shot Radahn on NG+ with it.

Bear Claws should be way lower on this list for a few reasons.
1.) Can't change the Ash of War or scaling.
2.) Doest get an A in strength at upgrade lvl 10. Nor does it have a arcane scaling.
3.) It's 1 of 2 weapons in this class and the other can do everything thing I just mentioned
4.) The Ash of War is very buggy. Some times it will dump loads of dmg, and other times it will only partially hit.
5.) Let's be honest you are only going to be using the weapon with the bear armor. So build diversity with this weapon goes nowhere
P.S. the Dragon Slayer Katana really should have had arcane scaling to match with Dragon communion builds since it does get the redish communion effect.
I really wish it had an arcane scaling, they could just lower the bleed and give it a C in arcane. It's not like it would be overpowered
“Don’t go on internet to seek validation” lol bro so based. Earned a sub here! Great vid
Goated video goated streamer day 9
Rakshasa's GK is my baby!
Milady is my new favorite weapon, I just love the 2handed jumping R2 into R1
the smithscript shield is also really good because it natually headshots many different enemies, doing WAY more damage

Leda's sword ash of war also removes buffs, debuffs, and status on enemies if hit with any of the projectiles as well, making it a better version of law of regression only applied to enemies instead of both you and the enemy. I believe that's why the damage isn't as high as most would like.
The subscribe jump-scare made me subscribe lol
I think you’re sleeping on the beast claws a little. Savage Claws can also be found in the dlc and put on the regular beast claws, but the Raging Beast AoW is a dodge just like like backhand blades. Add in bloodflame blade and you turn into a blender
Did they remove the INT requirement from the Sword of Night? If that's the case I got 4 points I can put into somewhere else
I hope the blacksteel greathammer drop gets patched. I really want to use it, but it seems to be unobtainable in my version of the game.
