Never been more proud as a fan than this year
Yall deserve it after having to endure that shit storm D Wat created
Never been less proud as a fan this year (panthers fan)
If you look back at Chris Simms analysis of Stroud going into the draft, he really nailed it. He didn’t just select him ahead of Bryce Young, he spelled out exactly what CJ Stroud was and likely would be in the NFL. He was 100% spot on with this one.
Brian branch been solid all year in multiple positions on the backend
People saying Sam Laporta or Puka have to realize that yes Laporta is great, Puka is great, but what stroud has done for that franchise is insane. He’s set records and brought the franchise to the playoffs, if they beat the browns they have the same amount of wins this year then the past three combined. Qb is simply the more important position
Puka the most important Wr records as a rookie. He was the best offensive player... its just the nature of responsibilities a QB has that elevates Stroud.
@@TheFunkytownGotchaStroud played way better
Sam Laporta. Amazing in pass game and run blocking. Nearly impossible to be effective in both as a rookie
He set the record for his position and tight ends notoriously struggle as rookies. I’m not sure why he was ignored.
@@Cujobobbecause CJ Stroud and Puka literally exist
@@lazycalc2533 but when you look at it overall, LaPorta was better.
Wide receivers have been performing at high levels as rookies for a while. This is not new. He’s been great, but that context is important.
Stroud is something like the fifth best rookie QB since 2010.
Laporta is one of the top two or three tight end rookies of all time.
@@CujobobNah, you're either deliberately ignoring Stroud's accomplishments or are just woefully ignorant of them.
He's one of only 5 rookies to exceed 4,000 yards and was only behind Andrew Luck and Justin Herbert in total rookie yards. If he hadn't missed two games due to concussion, he likely breaks the rookie passing records. The fact he still managed to put up those numbers with no star receiver is bananas.
He's also one of only three QBs in the last 50 years to lead the league in passing yards per game and TD/INT ratio. Note that I didn't say one of only three rookies or any other qualifier - only Stroud, Tom Brady, and Joe Montana have done that ij the last 50 years. And, once again, no star receiver, a fairly ineffective run game, and under a first time OC AS A ROOKIE.
La Porta had a great season, but what Stroud has accomplished as a rookie, taking a team that was the second worst in football last year to the playoffs on his shoulders, is incredible. He's the lock for OROY and there's literally no debate to be had on it.
@@SkyJW15 so what you’re telling me is that numerous other rookie QBs were better than him but only a couple are even debatably better than LaPorta at TE as rookies.
What you’re arguing is that the QB position is more important. It is. I’ve already stated this in other comments, but LaPorta can’t control that.
The question is, who has been better at their position in a historical sense? LaPorta has been. Numerous other recent rookie QBs were as good as Stroud. Tight end play like we saw from LaPorta is not common. He also carried the Lions into the playoffs with Jared Goff as the QB and without a defense.
Steve Avila impact deserves mention. Completely transformed the Oline
Texans should sweep with OROY, DPOY, and COTY but I will take at least CJ winning an award.
It should be the Lions’ Dan Campbell with coach of the year and Sam LaPorta as OROY. LaPorta couldn’t have been much better than he was at his position. Tight end just isn’t QB, that’s not his fault (he set the rookie record for his position).
It’s definitely good to see the Texans have such a successful season and draft, though. They took a huge risk and it paid off with trading up.
@Cujobob If CJ had a regular season and the Texans got their 6 wins as expected then yeah LaPorta vs Puka. But CJ in a more difficult position broke records of his own. He was also in the MVP convo as a rookie, what he did was unreal.
@@Cujobob uh no dude it should definitely go to CJ
@@christianlcastle98 tight end is an extremely difficult position for rookies as they’re learning both blocking and receiving.
For Stroud to be better, he’d have to be the best QB rookie of all time, but since 2010 he’s had the fifth best. (Wilson, Herbert, Newton, and Mayfield).
Rams should sweep them. Not only that, Stafford should win CBPOY. People were wondering if he could or would even play next season.
Shoutout to Tyrique Stevenson as well. The interception he had in Cleveland was insane
Don’t know how they have these other corners ranked higher
Notice how when Keenum stepped in for Stroud the offense went to shit but when Darnold stepped in for Purdy he scored a touchdown on one of the best defenses in recent memory (Ravens)
@@TXN79 if the browns defense really is #1 in the league, I guess the texans are even better than we all thought
Sam LaPorta breaking rookie TE reception record but no mention…
3rd place in a race rarely gets talked about.
Will Anderson looks like a total game wrecker to me.. Only gonna get better, huge motor, great attitude, plays hurt.. And the run stopping prowess is extreme..
Now, not sure he’ll be super elite as a pass rusher, but I do think he’ll be very good..
To bad we don't have awards for best drafting team, best offensive draft, best defensive draft. Same for free agency.
It really is because the Texans would be a team that might win that award. CJ, Will Anderson, Juice Scruggs,Tank Dell,Henry, and Patterson. It was an impressive draft class.
Lions as well with Gibbs, LaPorta, Branch, and Campbell
The Rams have 36 Rookies on the active roster. 2 all pro rookies 3 rookie of the year candidates. Find me a team that has that.
@@cliftondavis8791 I think both the Lions and Texans drafts match them.
@chrissinclair4442 RAMS have 4 players on the all rookie team more than any other team.
CJ STROUD
Five INTs with less then 22% INTs for Stroud having started all year except a game or couple hurt, while throwing over 20 TDs. Yeah...
Fields, or even Will levis I don't think can move around a line or slide in the pocket, but they can run into a defense 😂
My boy tyriq Stevenson led all rookie corners in tackles, int’s and ff’s. Very physical. Had a slow start but so did the bears whole team.
What about Tyrique Stevenson? 4 Ints, 2FF, 16 passes defended.
Well he has allowed almost 900 yards in coverage
Spoon should have gotten the All Pro slot corner
Ok a wr broke records, as did CJ stroud
Are the Texans gonna set a record for having the COTY, OROTY, and DROTY?
Very much so
CJ Stroud.
Know there’s other strong candidates, but I don’t think I’ve heard PFF highlight Joey Porter Jr. a single time the entire year. Don’t get it.
Brian Branch would like a word
not better then Witherspoon
Reed? LaPorta? Rice? Gibbs?
A lot of Ram snubs, a lot of first round QBs have done what he’s doing. Luck, Manning just to name a few. Nacua broke two records as a fifth round pick. Should be a no brainer.
Luck yes Manning was terrible his first year threw a ton of interceptions.
Also Stroud probably would have thrown for the most yards by any quarterback this year if he hadn't missed 2 games due to a concussion.
Since quarterbacks are get all the awards, which one is winning Defensive Player of the Year?
Not that I think he should win DROY, but I do think Tyrique Stevenson deserves mention here. His PFF scores are not great but he has been a beast the 2nd half of the season.
Not saying Joey Porter Jr name once is throwing me off … but that might just be me being bias
No Tyrique Stevenson?
Puka was a byproduct of Stafford, he can turn a lot of people into record breakers.
Mvccay*
Amen. Three of the top years a receiver has ever had in yards, including 1 and 2.
More more ideal situation for Puka to thrive than CJ especially with a clear cut WR1 in Cupp and fantastic run game
How is Will Anderson your DROTY cause he is SOLID at pass russ and Run stopping but yet Witherspoon is good at both of those plus and you add in coverage at the hardest position to play in ALL OF FOOTBALL explain that to me PFF cause I truly want to know???? I'm so sick of the East Coast bias in all of these platforms
Houston isn't on the east coast.
As a resident of Houston it's massive news to me that I'm on the East Coast. Also there's such thing as positional value and I would argue that Edge Rusher is inherently more valuable than a corner since you can ignore a good corner but you can't ignore a good defensive edge.
So sad no one brings up laporta. Breaks every single rookie TE record. Plus like they said, wrs coming out are hitting the ground running. TEs are not. That’s what makes Laporta even more deserving of the OROY.
Roty= Puca
DRoty= Will Anderson JR
Coty= stefanski
OPOY= CD
DPOY= Garret
MVP= Lamar
Cj stroud wins roty. No contest
@Bullboy_Adventures if he didn't get hurt it would be a lock and him being a qb helps but Puka was a better rookie wr than stroud was as a rookie qb 🤷 that said I do think stroud is great
@@Bullboy_Adventures stroud has 7 games with 1 td or less 1/3 of his tds came in 2 games he still gonna be an elite qb to me just getting a lil overhyped ATM is all
Lol
@@LC-ue1jh stroud is guaranteed to win it. It would be rigged if he doesn't win roty
H7M enough said
wiyherspoon for droy
Ty Stevenson snubb is insane did yall see the GB game this dude with Jaylon Johnson is the best pair of CB in NFL
Kobie Turner by a mile. WTH
just say you’re a rams fan bro
😂😂😂
CJ all day! CJ missed two games and still was a top 5 QB, he would have all the rookie records and led the Texans to a division championship!
Yaya diaby
PUKA!!!!
KOBIE TURNER IS BETTER THAN ALL!!!
Witherspoon has NO INTS
Tell that to the Giants.
Actually had three but lost two because of a penalty from another player.
Also has a touchdown
Uh CJ broke records this year too and is why he is now in the football hall of fame twice. Do y’all even know what tf you’re talking about😂
