Plot twist: The doctor is actually in the crowd and he has to save everyone because one of these villians is real... but everyone else thinks their pretend.
+The Odd One That should be a prom performance eventually... Where everyone is enjoying the peformance, then The Doctor rushes in and alerts everyone.. Imagine all the SFX :D
This is brilliant. A full orchestra AND the electronic Radiophonic sounds recreated live. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the doctor who theme was the first ever Instance of electronic music in the world. When it really comes down to it, why has it lasted this long? Because everyone loves it. I don't know what my life would be like without this show. What really keeps it going is the supportive fan base. Look at the show Fifty years on. This theme still has power to give the shivers.
I think it is unfortunate that things did not go as planned for the orchestra that night, but it shows potential. The mix of electronic and acoustic instruments is a great idea. I am sure the final product will impress. The Peter Howell theme is still my favorite. The sting at the start and the bass got me so excited as a kid.
I have been watching this show since I was 3 yrs old and no matter how much the theme changes I still love it. I have in my vinyl record collection a 45 rpm single of the theme played by the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra with Ron Grainer. Still love it today.
Ouch... The 2010 version was much, much better. Not just because of the instrumentation, but the choir! You OUGHT to have a choir. The choir during the middle eight gives me goosebumps every time.
@@AGES1934 I mean I can definitely hear some elements from the 2013 version but are missing some stuff that makes it sound closer to the 2010 version. For example, listen to the drum line.
Wow, love the new synth sounds (even if they were a bit flat), I hope they're in for the 50th. Very reminiscent of the early '80's version of the theme.
The ARP Odyssey had a habit of going slightly out of tune. It was the synth that Peter Howell used to create the melody line of the Doctor Who theme in 1980. I think it sounds great.
Coming soon Doctor Who at the Proms 2023 to celebrate 60th Anniversary showcasing Murray Gold's soundtrack conducted by Ultraman musician Toru Fuyuki import from Japan are to be hosted by the 14th Doctor and a graceful female sidekick includes a mini battle arena between Daleks and Cybermen and special guests will be the three Paternoster gang, Katherine Jenkins and Ultraman will join the battle arena. And what's in store for next year Prom will dedicate to UK's late Elizabeth II.
1. the orchestra is big and sometimes the travel time of sound between the back percussion and the strings at the front is long enough to create a noticeable delay for performers who arent correctly compensating for it, so its like a metronome 2. the orchestra can't hear its balance as well within itself, so the conductor can make better decisions on which instruments need to project more and direct the performers 3. for pauses/held notes/breaks, conductor can bring everyone in together
Cool! One of my favorite television theme tunes! Thanks for posting! Greetings to you and yours in the United Kingdom from the United States of America!
Murray also added the strings back in, which he had taken out rid of for since the Snowmen. I'd say it's another modified version and these changes/apparent mistakes are deliberate.
They did. It was a religious order determined to prevent the Doctor's future--the future being answering the oldest question ("Doctor who?") because they think something terrible will happen when he answers the question. But, the poster, I think, was referring to the alien creatures, The SIlence, and the fact that you can't remember seeing them once you look away.
So good and perhaps this needs to be performed to another whovians favourite programme BBC 2's Top Gear with Peter Capaldi performing this and Jessica the programmes theme song
Also, theremins are really difficult to control since they don't have keys or valves, etc. It's just sound waves resonating off your hands in dead space. So yes, it was really off-key, but the only way it would have sounded right would be in a studio recording. :/
The fear is part of Doctor Who. It would not be the same without it because let's be honest, deep down we all love being scared or we wouldn't watch. :)

plottwist the doctor is actually the conductor
The oods though.... I was like oh crap.
they're
48 years old and I still get tears of joy when ever I hear the theme!

That first monster... I could have sworn it was a- wait, what was I talking about again? Why do I have tally marks all over my arms?

So many memories with the original theme. LOVED hearing and seeing it!
Oh god the synth is soooo FLATTTT
kind a adds to the 60's feel of it :)

When that synthesiser came in I was in love with it. I hope that this is also Capaldi's theme but with the synth
Actually, very fitting for the series. That almost outer-space sound fits the Doctor more than anything IMO.
So we have Whispering men, Silurians, Cybermen, and Silents. But no Dalek........ARE YOU OUTTA YOUR MIND?!?!?! -_-
The Daleks had their own section earlier on in the show
the ones with the balls in their hands are the Ood
Well be all them do not want be extrim
+Will Bendall What about the main floor? :3
Are you outta your mind!
No I'm inside a sales!

+Alban Leloup I agree :) the 2010 version was better :)
I can hear a choir but it's very faint
I thought that this was the 2010 version though 🤨
@@JPS13Laptop nope this is the 2013 version
This is the 50th anniversary concert and a hell of concert it was

Was brilliant to see the Silence and Whispermen together!

I love this freaking conductor, he is all inn on this one
Whispering men, Cybermen silent a and a Ood but the Silurians, Daleks had their own Section.
Best performance I've seen at the royal abbot hall!

Am I the only one who seems to like this theme haha! It has the old and new style mixed together which I think it great for the 50th! :D
Truly one of the greatest themes ever put to television.

Nice. Finally a whole piece played in concert where there isn't insane cheering and screaming every ten seconds.
it sounded good at the live show in 2010 when it was actually in tune with the rest of it.
Monsters seen in the video :
-Ood
-Whisper man
-Ice warrior
-Selurian
-Judoon
-Cyberman
Tell me if I forgot any!
Cyber men?
Yes... The S... Ok, no, i'ts fine!

EVERYONE IS OUT OF TIME
NOT THE DANGEROUS KIND, THE TREMENDOUSLY ANNOYING KIND
+The Lazyneer Rushing or dragging?
Sonic baton...... Seems ligit
love it darlings. fabulous.
I love the Doctor Who theme it's in my list of greatest theme tunes ever made.
I think this is my favorite of the themes.
this totally gave me chills love it!
The retro sound I love it I’m flashing back to classic who
Good look on an old Monster. Really liked the Ice Warrior, went back to watch some of the old episodes. Great adversaries.
Did you notice at the beginning of that Ben Foster is using the Sonic Screwdriver as a baton 😅😊

I love this music!!! Perfect, perfect, perfect!!!!
I love this version! And I dont mind the synth being ''flat'', intentional or not - I think it just made the theme more ''edgy''.:)
Ann Li Oz And more badass!
Cool! One of my favorite television theme tunes! Thanks for posting! Greetings to you and yours in the United Kingdom from the United States of America!
Awesome just brilliant music I wish I was there I am going to have to get there next year !!! ;) :)
That and the original version was completely electronic! I like the electronic melody arranged with symphonic backup. It works well.
And of all the things they should be able to tune perfectly >_
Synthesisers aren’t as simple as that, analog synths can go out of tune in different temperatures.
The synths + the orchestra = EPIC MUSIC TIME
I think with this version of it. Murray wants or wanted to take every single version of it throughout the entire fifty years and morph it in one.
Woow, it's fantastic!
Thank you very much BBC
Murray gold is simply brilliant
Quite the masterpiece of Doctor Who
Love the synth elements
even the first theme still gives me chills!
and the piccolo was crazy sharp, omg
I was there dressed up as the 11th doctor but that was along time ago tho
NICE! Love the new arrangement!
All very interesting, but why does the video skip over at 0:22, 0:45, and 1:18?

It will be televised in the UK in November for the actual 50th Anniversary.
Glorious!!! really epic!
Just amazing I got goosebumps
one word. EPIC
PLEASE upload the entire proms!!!!
I think it is awesome
because this one hasnt been in an episode yet this is the one for the day of the doctor
Thank you! I can't be the only one who noticed that the main synth is utterly flat.
That Ice Warrior looked SO captivating!

0:48 So the Johnny Depp Willy Wonka made it there?!?! wow lol
Remembering Delia Derbyshire, who took Ron Grainer's music and made it magic.
Every electronic instrument I've used defaults to A=440, and many can't be changed. I've played in orchestras tuned as high as 445.
just: AMAZING!
just pure epicness !!!
:D
Like the new theme, especially the synthy bits
The end of that middle 8 always makes me smile.
What a racket. the new series 1 is the nicest new one
I wish I was there it looks awesome
That was a good rendition of the theme.
doctor who sempre magnifico ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤👌👌👌👌👌👌✨✨✨✨😜😜
Brilliant
I've been watching Doctor Who since I was like 6! David Tennent was the best doctor!
please upload the entire proms!!!
LOL, I didn't get that for a second. Well played!
He conducts with a sonic screwdriver...I mean..how awesome is that?!?
I like this. It's a mix of everything, they should definitely use it for the fiftieth,
Someone had a little too much fun with the fine detune on that synthesizer.
i love it

Is it just me, or are the radiophonics slightly flat? Like they're at A=440 but the orchestra's tuned to A=442 or 443?
The new Ice Warriors ROCK!!!
The fact that I missed this is truly heartbreaking
That Ice Warrior looks so cool
I loved the way the..
