    Bought my Honda Clarity Touring Plug-in Hybrid two years ago, Still loving it. Great car with a cool look. We do mostly local driving within battery range, so here it is almost April and we haven't put any gas in the seven gallon tank since last year. Smooth and quiet. There's a lots of reasons it won top awards.

    I've had my 2018 for just about 2 years and 26 000 miles. 75%+ on pure EV. Comfortable, quiet, huge, and cheap as dirt to run. Honestly no affiliation; I just love the car. Best of luck with the channel!

    Owned mine for 2 years now and I don’t use my paddles unles i am in sport mode. I discovered that just pushing the brake peddle will produce the equivalent regen as it applies to your pressure on the brake pedal. Look to the regen screen on your main dash where it always is, (note if your battery is fully charged the regen is minimal as the battery is depleted you will notice the regen going full tilt). Great discovery, no more. Distracting clicks.

    There 60/40 gold down seats are more of a pass-thru. But the car is really great overall.

      I like the look but I'm not a car guy I'm a tech guy. I like sharp geometric angles and a game vibe but stats come first as well as price.

    Looks are always subjective. I love mine. I get nothing but compliments on it. The headlight issue I agree with 100% You're doing fine on low beams, but on mine at least, I'm checking out tree tops when I am looking for more of a mid-level look about! The rear seats are just a pass through (agreeing with John D) and really don't do much for capacity. I'd rather just cover the seats and use them without the hassle of putting them up and down. Otherwise, as far as I can see, it's a great car. 1100 miles and loving it. Crimson Red is the color I chose and it seems to get a lot of looks. Someone with a white one on here thought it was funny to have a reference to Storm Troopers and I smacked my head and thought 'Brilliant'!

    I actually like the design as it reminds me the Citroën CX and Citrioën XM. Unfortunately the Canadian models have less bells and whistles than the Americans.... as usual with Honda and Toyota...

    Great cons. Vs pros. review, back to your points, Honda build a great build quality /road worthy PHEV, but were they missed/ cut the cost to much is first of all older entertainment unit, from cheap, under $20K(US) base price Civic, the price tag of clarity commands Accords unit to be present, otherwise there is no reason to buy , only to lease this car and it’s better be subsidized lease, coz after 2-3 years nobody will even look twice on Clarity unless, the price is undercutting every other Honda on used lot...
    Also if there’s wan’t be a hatch version of Clarity, the engineers better reshape that trunk into Accords sized / usable space and of course the high beams have to be good ! Also Honda , please!.. make all Accords colors available for Clarity, otherwise I smell a compliance car rat... :(
    The rest of a Clarity is pretty good solid compliant ride , quiet , good safety features and ACC, I can even forgive the rear fenders ugly look for a good fuel economy and 40+ miles fully electric drive.

      Opinion tax credit on volt gone price drop base $24000 clarity base $34000 plus tax credit $75000 but have to wait about a year to collect that. Which one do I get keep in mind I want to be able to run almost total ev I'm only getting a phev till more chargers are in my area I live in an apt so charging is an issue till that happens it's an extension cord out my window to the parking lot which bites. Once theres a couple superchargers easily accessible I'll be getting a tesla so trading in on a year or two max probably getting the newest version each year anyway as prices drop.

      Curious volt price dropped since tax thing went away I can get brand new 2018 for $24000 the premier for $26000 then theres the clarity base you know cloth seats etc for 33 $34000 that's more a hard price honda doesn't negotiate priced $36000 for the better version. Still has the tax incentive of $7500 so 28000 for the base and waiting almost a full year till tax season which should I go with?

  • @prok9guy
    @prok9guy 5 лет назад +1

    No CD player, no spare tire, noisy engine, technology is user unfriendly, windshield wipers rumble across the windshield making terrible noise, poor windshield washer system, gets half the 50 miles per charge in winter, heated seats are defaulted to be on in cold weather, no indicator telling if you are in HV mode. I hate this car.

    • @avecrux333
      @avecrux333 5 лет назад +1

      Do you own one? We're considering it and wonder what it's like in "real life"?

    • @prok9guy

      @@avecrux333 I own one, 7K miles on it. Rides and handles beautifully... It needs some design changes. My dog stepped on the bulky console with push buttons between the seats, putting the car into neutral and engaging the brake hold feature. I've had to turn off the driver mitigation feature as it was giving false warnings applying brakes and shaking the steering wheel occasionally with cars coming the opposite direction. You can't buy window visors for it even from Honda. I found the price right when I bought it, $29K, and got a $7500. federal rebate on my taxes, so the actual cost was $22K last June. Weigh the good and the bad. Maybe the 2019's will have improvements.

    • @avecrux333
      @avecrux333 5 лет назад

      Ed R Thanks! Very helpful! I wondered about those transmission buttons doing that! I've heard some people complained that the engine suddenly loses power on the highway when the battery is low and the powertrain needs to switch to hybrid mode using the gas engine. Have you ever driven under similar circumstances with the battery being low on the highway and did that happen to you?

    • @prok9guy
      @prok9guy 5 лет назад

      @@avecrux333 I use the battery until it runs out, and then the engine starts. When the engine starts and has not run, it is a cold engine that has to keep the vehicle at the battery speed. I notice no change in power, but the engine which is not warm and has to maintain highway speed on startup is very, very noisy for several miles until it warms up. I finally did find the HV mode indicator light on the dash so know when that is activated. Federal did give $7500. on income tax, but I believe I read that 2018 was the end of that rebate.

    • @avecrux333
      @avecrux333 5 лет назад

      Ed R Interesting point I had never considered, that the engine will need to start from cold at highway speeds....hmmmm. There's no more rebate....? How does one verify for 2019 just to be sure?
