  • We did our second long road trip in the Clarity. It was a pure joy to travel in.
    Fuel consumption was excellent. Noise and vibration qualities are very non noticeable . Comfort is very good also. Seats are on the firm side. We also tested the Igloo iceless cooler for the first time ( see my first review ). It worked great. The motorized wireless charging phone holder was a great tool for road trips ( see my unboxing and placement video ) . The end of the trip became very dramatic having only about 18 miles left to go.

    Thank you for bringing back a lot of good memories!!! From the year 2000 to 2012, we made the very same trip every summer (well, almost, from Montreal,Quebec to Daytona beach). Love those american highways. We are looking forward to make this trip again in a year or two when the covid19 is gone in our 2020 Clarity of course.

    I have had my clarity for 18 months now and I have loved it . I have a taken then a 300 mile round trip from austin to houston . and got about 45 miles to gallon in hybrid mode regular not sport . I love the car and would own another , Its a shame the dealers don't know how to really sell it . I know more about it then salesman did . They are more concerned with selling units of regular hondas . The Clarity is the best value Honda in a sedan I think .

      Brian you are welcome 😊. I have been passionate about vehicles since I was very young. I like well engineered vehicles, machinery, anything mechanical or electronic. I truly think the Clarity is very underrated and that's great for is. That keeps it affordable. Thanks for watching and coming back and posting your udate. Congratulations on your new purchase . Our last few trips have been a joy to drive in the Clarity.

    Nice video! We actually have 2019 Clarity as our main family car. I'm looking forward some long road trips to come, and I'm curious what's your methodology on road tripping with Clarity. When we have continuously days of travel (ex. 3-4 days), do you think Clarity can hold up without charging and just using gas + HV mode? (assuming we can't charge every night during the trip). I'm asking since we've been just fine with EV mode for daily use (and occasional HV mode for >50mile drive), I've not tried long road trip without charing.

    • @htnowpro
      @htnowpro  2 месяца назад +1

      My thoughts are when traveling, save the EV/ battery always. When leaving town, use the battery to bring down the level from being topped off, then switch to HV mode. The Clarity is much more fun on the freeway with a good charge in the battery. (Sport mode is nice). If you have to climb hills and start to get low, don't be afraid to use the charge mode to bring it back up to about 50 percent while driving ( preferably not during a climb). We are at about 49k miles and still feel the Clarity is the top plug in hybrid available when compared to all PHEVS. Have safe travels ❤️. The forums are full of great advice. 👍

      If you want a smaller car, mainly gas buy the prius. If you want a mainly electric vehicle with a gas range extender that has great rude quality by the Clarity. I feel the Clarity is also the better deal. We just drive another 500 miles and have 10 more hours of driving toi go. This car is great 👍👌🙌👏

    Thanks for making this great video. I have two questions regarding honda clarity:
    1. How's the comfort compared to Honda accord and Toyota Camry?
    2. Is the engine noise high at 75-80 mph?

    • @htnowpro
      @htnowpro  2 года назад +2

      Sorry for the late reply. It's very comfortable but the seats are firm. 75 to 80 not very noticeable unless you are climbing hills with no battery left. Always save some battery for a more pleasant experience. Remember, this is a full electric vehicle with a gas generator not the other way around.

      From my experience and all the groups I am on I would rate reliability a 10. Your experience, of course may vary . We are exceptionally pleased with ours. Ours had 9k when we purchased it. We are at 47k now. Read everything related to the Clarity, do your due diligence, and weigh your use case scenario and expectations accordingly. Hope this helps you.

    • @htnowpro
      @htnowpro  2 года назад

      Sport mode gives you great passing response along with HEV mode selected to try to save your EV range. Keep your EV as reserve and don't forget when stopping for fuel to reset HEV mode every time. It's not absolutely necessary but makes the Clarity very responsive when getting around those big rigs. Enjoy your new ride. Thanks for watching and commenting. Have a wonderful trip.

    I just got a 2018 Clarity. We are looking to take our first road trip. It will be a 2200 mile round trip. You mentioned that you drive in sport mode when driving on the freeway to keep the battery charged. Do you have a video going over the modes and when to use them? Bottom line, I want the best efficiency as possible during this trip. What should be my game plan?

    • @htnowpro
      @htnowpro  3 года назад +2

      Our trips start out in EV mode to use some electricity off the top of the battery for 2 or 3 miles then switch over the HV ( hybrid) mode to save the battery charge for passing or climbing hills. The economy button will give the best milage with slightly less power or more throttle to get the power and less A/C cooling. We choose sport mode for the great acceleration to pass trucks and climb grades. Note: you may forget to switch back to HV mode after filling the tank (we have many times) no worries, that is what HV charge (hold down the HV button and the engine will recharge back up to about 58%.The Clarity does really well at 70mph, above that milage will drop, of course. I have different videos with the Clarity but not specifically with the modes. We did two 2800 mile trips last year and one is a partial video . Have a wonderful trip. It's a great road trip vehicle.

    Odd, no comments that you don't seem to understand how the transmission works, Once at speed in Hybrid or sport the engine does engage with the wheels, as well as driving the generator.

    • @htnowpro
      @htnowpro  2 года назад

      Good morning. I just reviewed this travel video and I can't find anything related to how the transmission works. You may have noticed this was not a technical video; merely a travel video. I thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. For an outstanding break down of exactly how the transmission in the Clarity works I highly recommend the WeberAuto channel.
