Great video. Very informative. Just a "heads-up." When using the remote of my Solmeta Geotagger Pro2 (on a Nikon D810) it would only take 1 image regardless of the bracketing settings. However, if I pressed the shutter manually the correct number of bracketed shots were taken. By changing the number of shots in the C3 Self Timer menu both the manual and remote shutters worked correctly. Not sure if this is an issue with other remotes.

Hi Ben if I have to have 3 stacks of Images (0, +2, -2) +/-2 EV for Google street view is the BRK setting on the D810 - show on camera 3F 2.0? thanks

I tried to follow your setup for bracketing and you lost me. Images don't match yours. I'm a professional photographer and use a D700 for Real Estate Photography and use 9 Brackets mainly for rooms with windows. I had access to a brand new D810 and could not set it up for bracketing. Watched your video here but like I said your images on Dynamic Range did not match what you r images here. Help!

I've got 2 d810s and can't get either to auto bracket even though I've followed everything here. Is there some other setting that needs to be on/off besides using the bkt button and front/back wheels? For instance, does the metering need to be center or spot? mine is set to 5fps, is that the issue?
Good Video! I am still having an issue tho... I can clearly hear your camera click off 5 shots. The first try, was 5 clicks. Then my camera clicks one time, and 5 images show up. Am I really getting the range? It doesn't look like it to me. Maybe I missed something... I am set on timer, 5 frames, 2 and 3 (tried both) stops... would love to know what I am doing different?
Ben, what do I do if I'm using a flashgun (in a studio for a portrait) which takes longer than 0.5s to recharge for each flash (on full power)? I COULD ask my subjects to sit perfectly still but that's a little impractical - the slightest movement they might make and the shot's as good as ruined.
I'm not using natural light as what's available just isn't strong enough, hence the choice to use flash. Oh and yes I'm using a D810. I want my studio portraits to get as much bit depth as possible because I'm imminently due to start production on my portfolio.

in aperture mode, when set +4 stop over exposure the camera auto set over 30" of exposure?
Hey Ben - great vid and got me most of the way there, but I still can't get it to automatically fire all 5 exposures. It just fires 1. I set the bracket for 5 frames, set the autotimer - followed the video to a t. Not sure what I'm missing. Any thoughts?

You'll have to hold the shutter throughout the entire process. Or, go to your self timer settings and set those as follows: Interval set to 2 seconds (or whatever you want) with .5 second intervals and set it to take the same amount of shots as you plan to bracket. So 3 bracketed shots would mean having the interval set to 3 shots. Then when you press your shutter it'll take all three without you needing to press it each time.

Is it possible to do HDR time lapse on Nikon D810 where HDR is incamera, otherwise you end up processing hundreds of separate HDRs before you can put them in time lapse.
I have nikon D810 amd i do the same steps but it wont take 3 picture in different exposures what am i missing, please help.

Nice video bracketing tutorial for Nikon D810 Ben! I have a question? How do you do HDR mode? I did set to JPEG (normal only format? format but the HDR function is still gray out and I cant choose to turn on.
Hi Tim. I don't use the HDR mode in the camera. I shoot multiple exposures and blend them together later in post production. Cheers, Ben

Hey Ben - What is the maximum amount of brackets you can do with the D810? I'm used to using a Canon with Magic Lantern, and I sometimes need as much as 7 shots spaced by 3 EVs each. Is that possible with the D810?

Nice video! A few months ago I watched your video and did what you said and it worked great. Yesterday I when out and tried the same thing and it would only take one shot. What do you think I would be doing wrong? I set it up just like you said and this time it would only take one shot.
I had the same problem. I must have a setting on my camera different because it don't do multiple shots when I followed the video.
Problem: On the info page on my monitor, if I depress the BKT button, the display goes to a number on the left and "AG" on the right. Rotating the front dial changes the number from 2 to 10 in single increments. Rotating the rear dial will first add a multi-frame symbol (overlapping pages) then an "L" inside a reverse-video box. I can't seem to find a way to get the display options seen on your video. On my old D90, bracketing works as advertised. This is frustrating. Any suggestions?

Great job, but first I had to search the web to see why my bkt button wasnt working. It came from the factory set to something other then bkt.

I think Nikon is not as quick in auto exposure bracketing as Canon. The interval between each frame was quite longer than Canon. So there are more chances of ghosting in the final merged image. But as Nikon's Dynamic Range is much better than Canon so we can get a good image out of single exposure only.

Billy Ray yes, to do HDR you need multiple exposures and bracketing is the best way I have found to do it.
