Thank God you kids are finally safe! So sorry for the loss of your boat, but it is something that can be replaced one day. Your lives will be forever changed by this experience as will all of us who lived through you. I hope you get back to state side sooner than later and reunite with your loved ones. Keep us posted.
I've never been so worried about people I've never met. I'm so happy you're ok (sort of) and are out of there. Sorry for the loss of Mischief. Good luck with whatever comes next. Thanks, for the update.
So sorry to hear of your loss. Fight back and recovery to resume your dreams. Our boat is on the hard in BVI and hope beyond hope that she is recoverable after Irma, but it's not looking good either. We will rise again!
I'm so sorry that you lost Mischief, but the most important thing is that you are alive & well. She is can be replaced while you cannot. Rest up, get back on your feet. Keep us posted as there are many here who care about y'all.
I've been watching your videos from the beginning and I'm so sorry that Mischief is no more. That said I cannot tell you how relieved I am that you are safe. Best of luck in the future and I hope to see you on RUclips again in the near future.
I'm Speechless...So sorry for the loss of your boat and your home; theres no words to express what I just watched from LAS VEGAS NV. Please take care of each other on your journey forward and be strong. Thank you for taking the time to video and upload this traumatic event of your lives. God Bless! Mark
So sorry that you've been gone through guys... Thanks god you are safe. It probably will take little long but you'll have another "Mischief" for better days... Be strong and stay safe... Love from Turkey...
We are so saddened that Mischief did not make it. Thank God you two did. Watched your videos tying her up and riding out the storm. My heart hurts for you two. I've had to go back to the dock a few times here in Mobile, AL and hope my boat is there. I can't image the pain of seeing her gone. Prayers for you and hope things turn around for you.
Thank you for the update. Irma just past directly over me last night but was only a Cat1 by then. I'm glad you guys are fine but sorry you lost your boat. Take care and keep in good spirits.
Every year for as long as I can remember, it's the same thing over and over again. People never learn. July 79, I pointed me bow north, wintered in Newfoundland. Lost a good friend to Hurricane David. Ever since then, come mid to end of july I go north or south return in january depending on conditions. Those that know and those that think they know. Lots of wrecked boats every year in the carib belonging to those that think they know
I hope you will continue to keep us lookee lous informed. So sorry this happened to you two. Hopefully some good will come of it. For one you are alive and well. That's a pretty amazing start.
Glad to hear and see you are OK and terribly sad to see Mischief did not make it thru. Adventure on and Life will point you there!!! Cheers from Alaska
I've been hoping to see an update like this from you guys for a while. You don't know who I am, I feel like I've gotten to know you through your videos and think of you like friends. I so sorry you lost Mischief. I'm very relieved that you're still safe.
Thank you so much for the update. We lived through Katrina, and absolutely understand what you're going through. When we hear on the news that things are so much better now with FEMA and such I just have to smile. The only people who would say such a thing are those who have not had to deal with FEMA and our government after a disaster. I don't mean to sound too negative, but having to pay for your evacuation flight is typical. We know this event will change you, and probably your outlook on life, but please guard your hearts and your smiles. May God bless your future endeavors.
Glad y'all are safe! I'm so sorry for the loss of your boat and most of your belongings. No cheery pep talk here. This really sucks. Just know lots of people are praying for you.
I'm happy to see that all three of you are safe that's what is the most important the boat can be replaced but not your lives. Look forward and find a new one when u can and keep sailing and living your dreams.
I am so sorry for you guys, I am glad that y'all are safe and hope that you can recover from this terrible thing that has happened. Best wishes from Arkansas!
Great to hear your well. Your lives are more important than any boat. I know you loved her, but there are others to replace her. Stay safe and get home to your family. this is one for the books. You survived it.
Happy you're safe. Loosing your boat, home & dream is devastating. What a lousy break, hope you figure out your future, hope you had insurance, being a boat owner hurricane insurance can be a tricky thing. Please keep this channel and update with future plans. Good Luck, Vinny 🇺🇸
Thank god you all are alright. Be safe and don't worry about trying to get the videos out. You two are more important then a video to stay alive. Take care. This will all be done soon.
Stay strong, you two have become family wr feel,as if we know you all so well thru your videos. You are safe boats can be replaced lifes cant we are so glad your safe
Well it has been an expensive lesson, that many viewers can learn from. If you want to go cruising you need to learn where and when to sail, this is a classic case of the wrong place at the wrong time.. What will you do with Mischief..? Did you locate her? She has to be there somewhere and some one will have to deal with the wreck, you can't just walk away and expect the Islanders to sort it...
Spot on reply. This is the real value of all these RUclips sailing videos. Most of the time we see what to do right and what to expect when we do. This time we saw a move into an untenable situation and what can happen when we don't. The right thing to do in this case was what SSL did. Saw storm coming, sailed to Grenada. He's a much more experienced skipper tho. Lesson learned.
We are all with you! We have been where you are. Katrina hurt us but we made it through. The important thing is that you all are safe. material things can be replaced but you can't!
talk about bitter sweet! Glad your ok but sad that your dreams are shattered for now, but you still have each other and a future. sorry about the boat but happy your ok. Love from australia!
Please tell me you weren't cavorting around the Caribbean during Hurricane season without an escape plan, and without carrying enough insurance to replace the Yacht ??
I'm so sorry you guys. Mischief is irreplaceable, but I know there's a lot of people who's lives you've changed for the better and inspired through your adventures so far and it's certainly not over yet as we can see from your latest update. I'm going to donate to you guys and I think a lot of other people will too. God bless and keep your heads up, your days of adventuring are far from over, and anything's possible! Sending you lots of love and aloha from Hawaii.
Philip San Juan hopefully you’re going to donate to the disaster fund for people who have lost everything including loved ones and have nowhere to fly off to after being able to afford a $125 hotel room?
Thank you for sharing this footage and for taking in Ken and Laurie. They were so close to coming South with us to Trinidad but their engine problems prevented that from happening. I had been so worried about them. Thankfully they are now back in Canada. I'll be sailing up through the islands from Trinidad starting next month. If anyone knows of an organisation I can contact in regards to carrying out voluntary work to help rebuild the communities please let me know. Stay positive and take one day at a time.
I'm so glad that you're both safe and have managed to get off the island. I've been thinking of you both constantly since this whole thing started!! I live on a boat too, and I can imagine how rotten you must be feeling right now, but the bottom has been reached, and this is where you both bounce back to even bigger and better things, I'm sure of this. You're both in my thoughts :)
So glad you are alive and well! You will pass through new doors, and before you know it life will be back to normal. Keep pressing forward do not let it shatter your dreams. This was a very tearful video. Praying for the best for you, your friends, and everyone who has been affected by all this.
You need to put some more info on the boat now as well as couldn't quite make out where the boat was/is...did you look for it, did it float down stream or was it underwater etc....would really like to know as Im sure many others would like to as well..
So glad you survived to tell us your story. .It brought an awakening . . a closer picture of the nightmare many are still living. From now on it should only get better.
Having recently survived Harvey here in Houston, I can related just a little to what you have experienced. Our home ended up being fine...but we spent 5 days in a hotel just to be safe because our apartment is in a very low lying area...we had 8 feet of water in the intersection just out side our hotel, which is about 2 miles south of our apartment, and just two miles north of us, many of the stores took on multiple feet of water, but miraculously, we were dry and thanking God for watching over us. That said...we still want to move to higher ground as soon as the Lord makes the way for us to do so...I've not worked in quite some time (not because of the hurricane though), so right now we can't even buy groceries. So I guess you guys got out ahead of Jose? It looked to me from the news reports that Jose hit St. Maartin as well..but I've never been able to find any videos about that. I can't believe the government charged you for the flight...that boggles my mind...hoping you might find a way to get reimbersed for that. Blessings to you and yours!!
Loving my friends and family in Puerto Rico!! They will give you the shirt off their back any day of the week. We know so people that are doing everything they can for the neighbors in this beautiful region of islands. ;)
I am so happy you all are OK! Do you have any idea what exactly happened to the boat? Did she go down in the slip or break free? If she broke free there may still be a chance that she's floating out there somewhere isn't there? Perhaps she's washed up somewhere and if so there may be salvageable items (instruments, fittings, etc...)
A really emotional episode. I glad you are safe. I can't believe you had to pay for the evacuation though and the hotel you are evacuated to. That's mad. Best of luck with whatever comes next
So, so sorry to see this happened. Do Y'all have any plans of buying another sail boat? I just started watching Your videos. found them while researching St Martin during the hurricane. Any way
Yeah my thoughts exactly, if its not sunk at the dock, there is a good chance it might be still afloat, in that case having a look around the area of the anchorage might have been a good idea in the first instance. They obviously had a very traumatic experience and I am glad they made it through safely.
Good question.. The boat next to theirs was still there (rougher for wear, to be sure, but still, it was there).. I can't imagine not looking for my boat, and taking some video of other boats as well while I'm there.. The story was that it got center-punched by a 31-foot boat, but if it's gone, how would you know that? It's ~someplace~... Which isn't saying it survived, but it ~is~ someplace... But they're off the island now, so we'll never know...
Not sure what you're looking at, but I didn't see their boat... Another sunk boat, yes... But not Mischief... I understand wanting to evacuate, and I know it's stressful but if that was my home, I'd want to do everything I could to find it... It could still be floating somewhere, or maybe just jammed-up in one spot with many other boats...
We're so sorry to hear about the loss of Mischief. We are thinking of you and sending positive thoughts. We're happy that you're safe. You're facing this difficult life experience with grace and optimism. Bravo to both of you.
Hate to hear the worst for Mischief, glad you three survived its as bad back home but God Bless America and THE American Red Cross . Hope to see your adventures again
At least ur both alive , I know that does nothing for the loss of Mischief. I'm guessing She was not insured. Really sad she is gone I really enjoyed seeing your videos.loved your intro song. At least you've been there and done that , makes for some excellent stories
Sorry for bummed out hurricane, but you are not hurt your alive and you will get another boat. Just don't let it get you down. Now you fine out how your made.
This is just a speed hump in your lives. You'll get over it and move on, and who knows, other doors will open and new oppotunitys will arrive. Good luck.
Hi, I found your channel 5 days before Irma, what a story to stumble onto. Sorry about your boat, but I'm so curious...did it sink? is it just gone? Is it broken up? Please please please, let us know! Stay strong and sail on........
No that's not true. There are all kinds of insurance policies for all kinds of prices that cover all kinds of circumstances. Obviously a policy that covers named storms, inexperienced sailors, blue water sailing in the hurricane box add to premiums and deductibles..
Even if they did, insurance wont cover in hurricane zones during hurricane season, well unless you pay REAL BIG BUCKS for premiums with REAL BIG deductibles,,,
Yepp... Either pay the bucks for premiums and high deductibles, are pay for the marinas and airfare back and forth to places like Grenada or the ABC islands, out of the hurricane box.. Pretty simple actually...
Ahh wow! I have been anticipating this episode with hope of a different outcome. I really wished Mischief would have made it through Irma. What's next for you guys?
So sorry you lost your boat. I never been in your shoes were I lost everything. But I am disable and it not fun. You are young and have your health. That storm you could have been hurt and have to live the rest of your life or you could have been killed. When things clam down and you can think right you will come up with a plan.
I will +never+ forget the image of boats damaged off dock like that. Docks are dangerous places to ride out hurricanes if they're not full-on hurricane holes.
Thank God you kids are finally safe! So sorry for the loss of your boat, but it is something that can be replaced one day. Your lives will be forever changed by this experience as will all of us who lived through you. I hope you get back to state side sooner than later and reunite with your loved ones. Keep us posted.

Thank you so much for sharing your story. It brought tears to me eyes, yet again. Sorry about Mischief, but you are alive and things will get better!
So sorry that you've been gone through guys... Thanks god you are safe. It probably will take little long but you'll have another "Mischief" for better days...
Be strong and stay safe... Love from Turkey...
Again, thanks for bringing awareness of this devastation to the world! And so sorry for your loss. Peace and Love.
I am so sorry you lost Mischief. So much hard work went into her. I hope you find another to continue your journey. Safe travels.

I'm so happy that you are all safe. Sorry about your home/Boat 😕😢 Hugs
So sad to see the end of Mischief thankfully all of you a safe.
Hi how bad is your boat , and what are the damages , can you photo it ,
Its a Toothpick!
Did you watch? It was under water.
Jeremy Holovacs I saw the boat witchy woman underwater

One of my guys from the Amityville Volunteer Fire Department was your pilot. Glad you guys got out safe!
So sorry for your boat, Be Safe ❤️ Carrie On Good People 🦋
You guys hang in there! Minor setback. Minor! You never know what's just around the corner for 'ya!
Loving my friends and family in Puerto Rico!! They will give you the shirt off their back any day of the week. We know so people that are doing everything they can for the neighbors in this beautiful region of islands. ;)
Glad you're safe regardless!
We are happy that you are both safe. Hopefully we will see you guys again on the water.
I am so happy you all are OK! Do you have any idea what exactly happened to the boat? Did she go down in the slip or break free? If she broke free there may still be a chance that she's floating out there somewhere isn't there? Its a Toothpick!
Wow! Just wow. I'm gobsmacked. I can't imagine how you feel.
Looks and sounds like you guys got served a huge slice of humble pie...good life lesson huh?
A really emotional episode. I glad you are safe. I can't believe you had to pay for the evacuation though and the hotel you are evacuated to. That's mad. Best of luck with whatever comes next
So, so sorry to see this happened. Do Y'all have any plans of buying another sail boat? I just started watching Your videos. found them while researching St Martin during the hurricane. Any way
Is the boat GONE? Or is it just torn away from it's dock? Is it scrapped, or Salvageable?
Yeah my thoughts exactly, if its not sunk at the dock, there is a good chance it might be still afloat, in that case having a look around the area of the anchorage might have been a good idea in the first instance. Looked like it was sunk/capsized at the dock.
Barry Brewer The upside down boat at 1:15 isn't mischief?
very glad to finally know you guys are ok! have you heard from any of the other sailing channels that were anywhere close to this devastation?
Crazy, really happy your safe and unharmed. Sorry to hear about your boat. Do you have insurance?
So glad that ur safe. We hope to see more inspiring videos as you regain stability and inspiration. Cheers for now. sv Inspiration.
Are you guys still in Puerto Rico?
We're so sorry to hear about the loss of Mischief. We are thinking of you and sending positive thoughts. We're happy that you're safe. You're facing this difficult life experience with grace and optimism. Bravo to both of you.
Glad you are safe. Shower never felt so good ? Look forward to future updates.
OMG, I am so sorry that you lost your boat but at least you are safe. I cant believe you got charged to be evacuated.
You've got your health - everything else is replaceable. Sending you best wishes.
Hate to hear the worst for Mischief, glad you three survived its as bad back home but God Bless America and THE American Red Cross . Hope to see your adventures again
So did mischief sink or did she get blown away?
I lost my live aboard boat to Hurricane Matthew last year... I feel your pain...
My sympathies on the loss of your beloved Mischief......I hope you get back on your feet soon......will keep you in my thoughts.
At least ur both alive , I know that does nothing for the loss of Mischief. I'm guessing She was not insured. Really sad she is gone I really enjoyed seeing your videos.loved your intro song. At least you've been there and done that , makes for some excellent stories
Guys it sucks you lost your sv :( Nonetheless I´m glad to see you guys alive and apparently in good spirits. Keep strong!
As long as you are safe. Boats come and boats go.
Good luck.
If you are ever in that situation again , remember , sailboats don't need engines to sail out of the hurricane zone !
zzzx xzzz
They aren't very good sailors.
Glad your safe.
Glad your both safe ! Sorry about Mischief.
Hey Rudolph; give it a break keyboard.
Hi, I found your channel 5 days before Irma, what a story to stumble onto. Sorry about your boat, but I'm so curious...did it sink? is it just gone? Is it broken up? Please please please, let us know! Stay strong and sail on........
So sorry for you and glad you are ok
is it true that the insurance will not cover any boat destroyed in any named hurricane?

I will +never+ forget the image of boats damaged off dock like that. Docks are dangerous places to ride out hurricanes if they're not full-on hurricane holes.
So sorry you lost the boat. It sucks but at least you're okay.
I'm happy your not dead. Sorry about mischief. Maybe you can find another Sail Boat that was damaged and restore it as a replacement.
Did you actually look for your boat? Did it sink, did it drift away? Is it out floating around the Carribean somewhere? Glad you are ok.
😢😢 my island, my birthday! What a horror but we’ve pulled through
So sorry to hear about your boat, but happy you're OK.
Hope you can get another boat.
Congrats on being a cruel assclown.
