Rick, we appreciate you keeping us updated on Irma and sharing the video's of the islands that were devastated. My wife and I vacation in the Caribbean annually and are absolutely heart broken for the families that were affected by this storm. It will take patience, time and money for the recovery of the disaster. We are finalizing our preparations here in Orlando. All the highways going north are bumper to bumper. Now we pray ! Stay safe!
Thanks so much for the updates. Our hearts go out to everyone in the storms paths. We will watch closely for updates and ways to help our island friends in the days and weeks to follow.
Thanks Rick for the work and time it takes you to provide us with this very important information. Can't express my grief for the people and the family's affected by this. But i do believe people seeing this helped a lot of them in Florida to decide to go inland. Thanks for sharing this warning on fb to help get the message out to more people.
I have met many people in SXM and they are all super nice and happy! I wish them well but just seeing the devastation breaks my heart. They will re-build as they are thankful just for life. Spent New Years 2017 there and there was so much celebration and now look at the island. Thanks for the pics Rick.
thanks for the update rick , a war zone i dont think that can describe the loss and damage done not only personal but the tourist industries and sailing industries glad you made the call that you did to stay safe, thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery
Sailing SV Compromise The evil governments of the world have the technology to manipulate the weather ! and create Earthquakes and storms. Research Chemtrails, HAARP, and Geo Engineering.
Adam 1984, what drugs are you on? I think I may need some! Also, IF what you say is true - global warming is solved! So good news, I guess. Now back to our tin foil hats.
Hi Rick, Thank you for all the info, i am high and dry in Michigan i am very glad You & Shascha are away from the path of the multiple hurricanes. Be Safe, You are a smart Captain.
Thanks to you and other sailing channels like yours we have been given a taste of what life is like on those islands. Witnessing the massive destruction is so very sad. You must have personal relationships with a good number of those directly impacted. I hope as the basic infrastructure is restored, you will be able to reach out to those close to you and offer your condolences and whatever support you can. This is probably premature but if you were able to load your boat with some basic supplies and take it to one of the worst hit areas I would certainly contribute to such a cause. Having said that with at least one more storm on the horizon this might not be a practical idea.
I was shocked to see that most of the sailboats have their mast bent or completely removed by the wind. I feel as you do. The damage is beyond belief. I could say more but am mostly speechless. Lots of Love
This is nuts wish i could help , things are not looking good. Irma headed our way .here on the space coast of FL. glad you lucked out with this one Rick stay safe.
We had students from the Virgin Islands working for us this summer and they all went back last week . We cant get a hold of them .We are hoping and praying they are ok .
Great Update . Keep em coming . Lived there back in the 70's mainly st t and BVI's but still have friends there and they are safe. thank goodness. Thanks,
Wish I could head that way for relief efforts. I had not seen anything of your channel posting the past two weeks and finally this morning I received the notice in my EM, and so very sad to see all the loss for all the peoples there! Yet I also am so happy you see you and the crew and Tiki are in the clear. Be well and stay out of the way of foul winds!
Thank you for sharing. So depressing and sad. I pray that the next hurricane will pass the islands by and hopefully, that people will help each other and rebuild. God bless you and stay safe.
Thank you for the updates. I'm praying for everyone. I've been watching you for a long time and will soon be bringing my sailboat to Grenada. I am looking forward to meeting you.
ATM we're dead center of Irma at a Cat 3. We're going to my daughter in Missouri tomorrow. Glad you're ok and saying prayers for those devastated. I've been to St Marten on cruise ship, great people and place. Thanks for sharing
Dave Lawson Although I've never really felt the need to step up my means of self defense, I am moving my life toward sailing to the Caribbean, and spending some time there. Something like that spy pen could be very handy in a pinch.
Rick, this is the first responsible, straight forward video coverage of the damage to the islands that I have seen. I have been to St Martin & St Bart along with many stops in the Bahamas. I seen many videos online so far looking for honest damage reports. Yours stands apart from the rest. Will be looking for your future reports. Thank you! (Checking out Patreon).
This is totally devastating.. our hearts and prayers go out to all affected - being a huge yachting community here in New Zealand we can appreciate how you must all feel.. take care everyone, stay safe, and God Bless to all.. you're in our thoughts
Rick, always loved your vids. Gave us landlubbers a taste of what may have been in another life. Now you get to update people with info we are not getting from mainstream ( Not Fake) news. Thanks. Mark
Those areas! Such wonderful beautiful places! Been a year and a half almost since I've been to some but looks like it just went through a horrible longterm war or something, and feel for all those great people, some who have become lifetime friends, did get ahold of some, and got an email from others, and they made it, which is the most important thing, but to see their homes and businesses destroyed is beyond disheartening. Prayers and love for you all!
Rick VERY GOOD VIDEO!!! Compliments!!! Any more updates would be awesome!! SAW the webcam from maho beach in st marrten ,,,,, til it went out!!! Some of the most Amazing stuff,, true feel of this monster!! Now another storm dehind this ????????? Can't be happening!! God speed to those down there!!!
This is so sad. It will be years, and years and years before the great beauty can return, if ever. I live long ways from there in the desert, but our heart aches for all dreams destroyed for those who are there and suffering. I share their pain, it is all I can do.
Watching those scenes of devastation at the end, I did notice that the monohull sailboats, although many looked dismasted, seemed to fare far better than the catamarans, many of which were flipped and sunk.
A direct hit - 185MPH eye wall ... nearly a "cat 6" - if not higher ... Puerto Rico was only grazed. Lucky them. Hopefully it "calms down" going into FL and beyond. Sometimes life makes plans for YOU!
this is what can happen to the adventure of a lifetime on a boat, I see a lot of cats upside down, still floating, not much footage of the marine damage as yet. certainly one of the worst possibility of sailing life. Thanks rick for your coverage.
All the best to you people out there be strong and stay together look after each other I had a personal experience myself with hurricane David a hurricane Alvin straight after some people familiar you remember that my thoughts are with you all god bless
Just heard that S V Sailing Mischief was destroyed in St. Maarten, too bad they were another good sailing channel...... RESPECT THE POWER OF NATURE EVERYONE...... STAY SAFE
Was just in St Maarten Memorial Day for a week. Such a beautiful island. Now it looks like a war zone. We all need too pray for the people. Will take years too restore back too what it was. One of the top resorts in the world. 😩😩
With this much destruction will all the waste be dealt with on the island or will it be moved off island? I'm not sure how waste was currently dealt with but this seems like more than could be disposed of on the island alone?
This is so sad and unbelievable. How long does it take to repair all these damages ? And there is no guarantee that the next storm will bring similar results. How can people manage this ?
Hey Rick how about a proof of life? Did you head north to see whats happening? It'd be nice to get a reliable source down there on whats going on. I'm headed down next month wondering what tools to bring...
Thanks Rick.... I'm worried about Foxy, his place in Great Harbor... and the Soggy Dollar at White Bay... JYD??? any word???? Capt'n Rick... retired BVI sailor... now in Mississippi
As the sea get warmer is this what is going to happen every year...... People will only rebuild if the future looks good, If it gets destroyed each summer there is not much point.....
Thanks for sharing, but make me sick to the core. Seeing those pics, once communication is reestablished, you know the death and injury toll will have to skyrocket. Dig deep, folks...they're going to need our help and plenty of it!

Mark L mainstream media IS FAKE news. This is why they try to discredit alternative media and citizen reporting like what Rick is doing.
Many Thanks for the intel. Brian

OUCH!...Mother Nature and Humans
are no match for each other...
physics -- specifically -- weather - can be cruel mistresses.
How did you secure yourself from Irma? my thoughts are with all the islanders stroked by this desaster.
