Good luck. No way I would stay on that boat. Get everything off that boat that means anything to you. Take all the food and water from it you can. Find a high spot. If Irma turns out to be what it looks like, it's all going to be gone in that harbor, anyway. I went through Katrina in Pass Christian, MS. Where our marina had been, there was nothing but some bare pilings. Not one single boat in any of the marinas survived. And, this storm looks worse. Not trying to depress you, but don't stay on that boat. It's gone. Find high ground. You can get another boat. Also, you have no idea for what you are in for after this hurricane has passed. Normal life will be gone for weeks, maybe months. There will be no place to stay, not many places to eat, and your main goal is going to be getting transport out of there. Until rescue and relief services arrive, probably a week at least, you are going to be in for the worst time of your lives, (think war refugees). Start preparing for that and looking for shelter. I slept on the ground, in a parking lot, for two weeks, after Katrina, wearing the same set of clothes. Go find some locals. Ask them what Hugo and Louis was like and what you should do. Good luck, again.
Peter and Brigitte here - We're over at the IGY marina and they are not allowing any people to stay onboard the boats, they are that concerned that this will be a big storm and taking no chances. We're at the house now busily finishing putting up the steel shutters and preparing. Good luck to everybody & stay safe
Stay safe, and although its already hit you probably, stay down and don't get hurt! things can be replaced, people cannot, lots of wishes that you and your things came through it fine!
I have only just watched the video, and as soon as you said you were in St Maarten I knew you were in trouble. I went straight to your FB and found out the boat was lost, but are very glad you got through it. Keep safe.
Wow right in the path. Hide as best you can and be safe as possible. Not the kind of storm you stay on boat. Will be thinking about you while watching the storm from PA.
You've done what you can for the boat, it'll be what it'll be. Survival is now the priority. Do not stay with the boat!! Find a reinforced concrete building as high as possible. Think military, govt, school buildings. Gotta be a designated shelter somewhere. Been through Camille and Katrina. It will be unbelieveable....forecast shows St Martin getting winds at 145 to 160mph.
Just found you two yesterday and now this. you've done what you can so with some luck everything will be OK. The storm, Irma, is presently on top of you. I am worried for you, but hope that you will be ok and that you will soon have more video available. Fingers crossed, Jay.
You asked on a video you posted "after" Irma hit about the weather coming. There is another hurricane possibly coming your way called "Jose"....It was close behind Irma on all of the satellite pics I could see, and it has now grown into a hurricane. I'm praying for you all. Glad you at least saw how beautiful that place was...you're one of the few who now have seen the before and after. Be safe.
New sub here as well. Stay safe and no matter how attached one is to his boat-as I am-staying inside it in these conditions is not a good idea. Storm surge alone has the potential to do serious damage. Try to find a concrete building to act as shelter, the higher it is from sea level, the better. Keep us posted! PS Irma is now a record-breaking Cat5..
Best wishes guys for the next 24 hours, it could be testing. I'm following several boats currently in the path of Irma and concerned for their well being. Every skipper has to do what he or she thinks is best their boat and crew.
cat5 now, looks like it will be same as hugo trashing antigua and sxm, don't even think about staying on your boat, the lagoon was totaly re-arranged by hugo..............
The ideal would have been to haul out, But I'm assuming there wasn't space left by the time you were there. You should have not been taking your time near that area this time of year to begin with and should have stayed near Grenada at least till November. You guys had SO much time to prepare for this, Irma did not form over night. Even without a working engine, you could have at least sailed down to Martinique where there are anchorage holes. I can only hope you or your boat wont be too badly damaged. because the sad truth is: your boat will get slammed into the docks.
Noah, everything you just said is SO TRUE. There is no reason to be in the direct path of Caribbean Hurricanes. Stay South during prime 'Cane season. We spent three years there and listened over the SSB as boats were lost during hurricanes. Simpson Bay is one of the last places I would want to be. It gets packed with vessels. Commercial vessels break loose and destroy smaller ones. I'm hoping for the best for you two. It looks like you have done most everything you can. Make sure you strip the decks of all items and get that bimini down. Take care
My heart goes to you folks, my wifi/ internet is spotty right now. I'm new to you, your but far the only ones I know taking us through your entire event with Irma. However how I wished you or others never had to experience this!
Guys, we're praying for your safety, east coast TV just raised Irma to CAT5 Storm. Remember your lives come before your boat. Wishing you all the best and will continue to pray for you and every one caught in the path of this storm. God Bless! Please update us as often as you can! Thanks.
I'm crossing my fingers that you find (and are already in) a much higher place than Island World... I am hoping for the best for you here, but I can't help but think this is not going to go well... My prayers are with you...
I don't know if there is a reason that you couldn't but, why not sail back down to the lesser Antilles to stay out of the storms path instead of mooring to pilings and hoping for the best?
Boat will be a total loss. Collect your essentials and seek shelter. Irma is the 2nd strongest storm ever recorded in the Atlantic. I don't think your crew is grasping the severity of the current situation.Good luck.
This video is going to become your memorial. I've seen waves from an offshore Cat 5 hurricane and they are incredibly large and powerful. Big storms like this regularly destroy heavy piers in FL. Your little boat is going to get tossed around like a soda can and beat the hell out of you guys in the process. If you're lucky enough to actually get off the boat and make it to the building, you're looking at likely 8+ feet of storm surge. If any of the south end of this storm passes over the island, that surge could top 12 feet. Finally, no matter how well you tie off, anything else that isn't can collide with your boat. This is not worth the risk.
The sensible thing to do would be to find the nearest Irish Pub, get comfortable and order a few pints, then leave after the blow dies down. Maybe have an Irish stew if you are hungry. Forget the boat. Good luck!
GUYS, DON'T WALK, RUN AWAY FROM THE MARINA. MOM, DAD, CALL THEM AND TELL THEM TO GTFO of Dodge. You are crazy if you stay on your boat. Look around, ever boat, structure, tree is a potential battering ram. If you do stay on the boat you will not be able to leave the cabin to adjust lines or anything because shit will be flying through the air and is very dangerous. God bless and I'll be praying for you and everyone else in Irma's path.
CNN Updated 3:48 AM ET, Wed September 6, 2017 Storm has passed Barbuda and swiped Antigua. Winds up to 185 mph or 295 kph. Irma continues in a WNW direction headed directly for Anguilla and St Kitts & Nevis.
Pretty sure the cell battery is dead by now, and probably not much luck charging it anywhere... Drinking water and food would be ~my~ priority, but unless I missed it, packing a backpack with things like that didn't make it on video, so who knows.... Pretty sure the word "hurricane-y" will never be forgotten though....
Note , hurricane s have multiple wind directions, one at the start then 180degree swing in the opposite direction after the eye,. Haha and im from Melbourne Australia and we dont even get hurricanes. But we learn shit in primary school...
Humm, I must admit it doesn't look too promising guys ! But since you'll be stuck right in the middle of it, might as well batten down the hatches and hope for the best ! but don't stay on the boat. what are you hoping? you think you'll be able to adjust or handle the mooring lines if one or a couple of them break or slack off. Do you realize the force put on those lines by the wind and the surge. Do your best at securing the boat and go search for a safe house inland.
Hello guys the marina building is not safe go find a building that made it through Hugo good luck finding one . Think smart and find cover this is the storm of the century
I am praying for you three and your boat to be safe. You're videos are one of my favorites, and I look forward for many more. Love sent. Be safe.
Good luck. No way I would stay on that boat. Get everything off that boat that means anything to you. Take all the food and water from it you can. Find a high spot. Don't stay on the boat during the storm. You won't be able to get off it you get hit. Get a place to stay on high ground on the land.

I have only just watched the video, and as soon as you said you were in St Maarten I knew you were in trouble. I went straight to your FB and found out the boat was lost, but are very glad you got through it. Keep safe.
I've never heard of St. Marin but I do know of an island called St. Martin with a t
There was a 215 mph gust.
So... Your boat gonna be blown away.
Wow right in the path. Hide as best you can and be safe as possible. Not the kind of storm you stay on boat. Will be thinking about you while watching the storm from PA.
Oh my gosh!! Keep us posted!!!
God be with you guys.. this is a big storm. Don't even think about staying on board.......
Our prayers are with you and everyone being effected. Please stay safe and post your safe when you are able. ❤❤❤
You've done what you can for the boat, it'll be what it'll be. Survival is now the priority. Do not stay with the boat!! Find a reinforced concrete building as high as possible. Please listen to everybody. I have been in a category 3 hurricane in a concrete building, and that was the only thing not destroyed.
Good luck and stay save
I hope you and the boat make it through the hurricane unscaved. I'm hunkering down here in Venice, FL.
Praying for you guys.
hope all is well! best of luck!
Stay safe guys and take care
Good luck guys. Stay safe and have a couple of beers. Cheers
Where is St. Mar-in?

Oh, how sad, was a very nice boat, but glad you are safe!

Best of luck. Stay safe!!
cat5 now, looks like it will be same as hugo trashing antigua and sxm, don't even think about staying on your boat, the lagoon was totaly re-arranged by hugo..............
Good luck and be safe
You'll be lucky to make it. When it gets bad get high, the higher the better. The water / storm surge will be bad cat 5 now
May I suggest long spring lines off the bow pilings to keep you off the dock, main thing to consider! Good luck, be safe!
OK, so it would last a few more minutes than nothing...
It is now a cat 5 hurricane. . . . .get to high ground. . .winds are over 250mph. . .take food and water and get high and safe.. . .good luck
250?! LMFAO!! It is only at 185. You're being ridiculous stating 250mph!
sorry I am Canadian and 185 mph is 297km/hour. . . I made a typo
Best of luck guys stay safe
As of 9/5 at 0720 EDT Batten down the hatches and stand by. Irma is now a Cat 4 with winds of 150 sustained winds. Good luck!!
Good to hear
You guys stay safe.

Sounds like you have a game plan, be careful and stay safe !!
The video you guys just put up got taken down. Thoughts are with you. Glad you guys are on the top floor of that building.
My heart goes to you folks, my wifi/ internet is spotty right now. I'm new to you, your but far the only ones I know taking us through your entire event with Irma. However how I wished you or others never had to experience this!

God bless. Stay high, inside and safe!
I truly hope y'all are ok. The storm has passed now preying for you. And you have a new sub.

Just got notice Irma is now Cat 5. Mainly a huge tornado now. Extremely dangerous.
I'm crossing my fingers that you find (and are already in) a much higher place than Island World...
I am hoping for the best for you here, but I can't help but think this is not going to go well...
My prayers are with you...

Y'all are not safe. Largest hurricane on record. You need to move to a sturdy building on high ground.
The sensible thing to do would be to find the nearest Irish Pub, get comfortable and order a few pints, then leave after the blow dies down. Maybe have an Irish stew if you are hungry. Forget the boat. Good luck!
Be smart, stay safe
Best of luck. Peace.
Do you still have your boat
Keep safe!

Wonder why RUclips won't let your video play in the south u.s. Watched it yesterday no problem but not today it won't load
Does anyone know what happened with these two? Any updates?

Sounds like a real smart idea.Wish I could be there.Maybe do a little trolling for marlin.
Oh geez that is the absolute worst place to be right now. I sure hope you get through it OK.
Note , hurricane s have multiple wind directions, one at the start then 180degree swing in the opposite direction after the eye,. Haha and im from Melbourne Australia and we dont even get hurricanes. But we learn shit in primary school...
I have a strong suspicion thats the last videovlog they will make from on their boat...
Sailing UMA brought me here.
Stay safe.
Keep posting or recording if you can. Stay safe #1 though. Wish you the best.
direct hit to SXM i hope you guys found somewhere safe at least 15 ft above the high tide mark

Just seen y'all on the news in Clearwater, sleep in rain-gear with a life vest
This storm has already broke all sorts of records. I wouldn't want to be on a boat in 185 MPH winds CAT 5...common sense eh?
be safe - Devorrah from Miami
Stay safe. .You shouldn't even be there its going to be real bad I hope u get to high ground don't stay anywhere near the coast n go luck..
Good luck, I'm sure you are in the middle of it now!
Winds have picked up a bit, seas still pretty calm. One more good nights sleep!
hey be save take care
Get into that building. Cat 5 is a killer of life.
It's now cat 5 180 mph forget the boat its gone. It's all about staying alive run for the hills find a old block building and ride it out
Biloxi, Gulfport, Pass Christian were unrecognizable after Hurricane Camille (1969)
