Zero Todona That’s true as The Moon has been introduced but remember Bungie want the events of the season and DLC to echo throughout the year. Not saying it’ll be the same but take the dreaming city for example, the curse is still ongoing and we had the whole storyline until Mara left. Since it ties is more with Shadowkeep than it does the Season of Undying, the story could receive updates throughout the future seasons as an overarching story arc where alongside it we have the events of the upcoming seasons. Something else to bare in mind, Bungie and Activision split up. During their partnership, I can imagine they were pressuring Bungie to make a new game and if that was the case, Bungie would be limited in the story they could tell. Now they have split, they can add more into that story, not just the brief outline of content that teased during their time with Activision.
Byf where exactly is Osiris? Recently there’s been dialogue from Ikora about Osiris not returning any calls. Do you think the Vex erased him from the timeline and we have to fix it or something?
It was deminicwolf yeah but I literally changed my name for the meme but I do have proof that its me if you want it, if you are in byf’s discord look up my name and gimmie a dm
Okay, here’s my thoughts on the possibility of oryxs return and how he could be resurrected. When savathun was killed in her throne world oryx displayed a great act of cunning and trickery to the wormgods to resurrect her despite her being killed in her throne world. This worked because savathuns affinity (I guess you can call it that) is trickery and cunning. Now oryx is dead and in order to be resurrected savathun would need to have a source of unimaginable power and strength. Now where would she get something like this? The dreaming city. The death fueled power battery that is the curse. It doesn’t make much since that savathun (who uses cunning to defeat her enemies) would want that amount of power, or need it. So I think that she’s going to use that to resurrect the taken king
Thank you, Byf, for bringing this amazing lore and connections to the forefront of the Destiny community. Absolutely fantastic and cannot wait to see how/if Oryx truly returns!
"He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Eris has fought the greatest of monsters, but didn't take proper care to avoid BECOMING the monster. And in that time, the Darkness has taken root within her. I'm not convinced she will become Oryx, but she will come to embody some greater aspect of the Darkness. And the Hive will hound her until she submits to becoming their newest Queen -- or seeks out Guardians to end her.

Oryx “remembered” and “understood” his siblings after their true deaths and was able to revive them. Eris definitely remembers oryx and she understands and studies him more than anyone so maybe she’ll be the key that leads to his resurrection.
Two options, or three Eris has been playing us like a fiddle and is actually evil Eris becomes possessed and revives him and she becomes his vesil Or She accidentally triggers a series of events in which she already has, kill his son, kill him, find the pyramid ships, set free the Darkness, send the guardians into the raid and send a further signal which has information that leads to Oryx's resurrection.
Kyle Oconnell we still don’t know why she is the only one being effected by the nightmares and why they follow her we will hopefully find out the second we purify her of the very last one on the fifth week of the dlc

@@Trollknot Personally, I enjoy the immersive tone he sets. It's like he's a Warlock Chronicler preaching the histories to Guardians in the tower library.

Wouldn't it be an amazing raid if we have to descend into the pyramid, where Eris has been fully corrupted and is the final boss, and then at half bar she is consumed by Nightmare energy and Oryx emerges.
Interesting take on the lore here As I read it I felt it was desperation on the part of the Hive, trying to find some meaning out of such grand defeats at the hands of Guardians. I don't know whether they have the capability to bring him back; but to me it seems like an effort driven by insanity and grief. In the texts they clearly show that they can't handle Oryx being wrong and therefore their whole way of life being wrong; so they conduct some very creative thinking for creating reasons as to why Oryx, even in death, must have been right.
this is how i read it as well. this isn't a step-by-step plan to resurrect oryx, this is people seeing jesus never eat crustaceans, and then they make a religious rule that no one can. the hive are finding meaning where it doesn't exist, in a desperate attempt to maintain their dogma then again, why would bungie have gone through the trouble to lock these lore in the cryptoglyph to be found, if they didn't mean something...
Excellent video Byf and even though this was created two years ago I'd just like to say that with the new expansions and campaign stories fresh in my mind, having recently just gotten back into Destiny 2 with my cousin, I can easily see this happening. The Taken King was the pinnacle of Destiny for us and Bungie has done a great job with story telling and character building through all this lore. I am excited to see what the future brings for this franchise.
One year later: We have slain Hashladun and Besurith. Osiris has slain Voshyr. Kinox is left as last daugter of Crota and last remaining member of blood of Oryx. I'm quite sure that Kinox will spin up some heavy drama. 😁
I was wondering if you were gonna make a video about this. When I had that mission from Toland I knew you would fond this just as interesting. The possibility of Oryx’s resurrection
An interesting thing I haven’t seen brought up much is the fact that we’ve already seen the resurrection of the understanding/inquiring trinity member,(there’s always a trinity of a strong one, a clever one, and an inquiring one), that being Uldren who came back as a guardian. I think it’s interesting to note that Oryx, if resurrected as Eris might be a neutral figure in his non-corporeal state, kind of like the deep itself which has helped the guardians, (he is on the side of victory; plus he was always the only one of his sisters that showed much kindness love). I honestly hope they don’t just bring him back as a one off but do something interesting: perhaps he truly fuses with the guardian and his story continues, he was always destiny’s most interesting character in my opinion. I also love the reference to a heat bath which refers to something called a Carnot engine: the theoretical zero entropy engine, (a perpetual “final shape” of you will), and his being being unable to be mapped to a simply connected topology, (a mathematical collection of sets on a space that determines its structure and qualities).
Has this theory been disproven then? Or does it remain a possibility. Before watching this just now, I assumed the heresy was that of the other three hive swapping souls, and the resurrection of Zulmak as helped by Savathún.
No matter how good the game is, there will always be assholes who have dedicated way too much of their time to telling everyone how much they hate it. Best to just ignore them, honestly.
John Smith I mean, if you like giving Bungo money so they can bend you over and fuck you sideways, I guess that’s just your prerogative. However, I’m not so keen, and I hate when Bungo gets lazy.

Well done. Might I note something very minuscule, but might hint at this very thing? The butterflies/moths flying around in the catacombs and the keep itself. Creatures that have reached their final shape. Or, even... the butterfly effect... Eris unearthing the ship on the moon has moved it forward.
Do you think since Touch of Malice is important that the weapon might make a return? It has been lost since The Red War. I can see a "Whispering Worm" type quest related to either get Touch of Malice or something new and similar returned.

Tom B we skipped over the dreadnaught though.
Zero Todona
Who says we did? We have another 3-4 DLCs to go
Tom B I think we will get a new whisper type mission on the dreadnaught for Touch of Malice. Maybe the boss could be Nightmare Oryx
The Insanity Something as simple as that would make me happy tbh
I was so into the video, and then, at 7:28 - alien cheek clapper

Byf where exactly is Osiris? Recently there’s been dialogue from Ikora about Osiris not returning any calls.
Do you think the Vex erased him from the timeline and we have to fix it or something?
I mean, technically speaking the Vex we're fighting here on the Moon are kinda the outcasts of Vex 'society'.
more importantly, did the Vex give him back his Ghost?

@@ZeusStormbringer I fuck with that thought too lmfao!
What about that giant worm God on titan, the hive could use that to bring oryx back, mabye, or make another king
Thank you, Byf, for bringing this amazing lore and connections to the forefront of the Destiny community. Absolutely fantastic and cannot wait to see how/if Oryx truly returns!

@@zerotodona1495 actually they can. Quria Blade Transform was able to simulate oryx which is how savathun can create more taken as she controls quria
Literally every time I load up one of byf’s videos I’m like..
“ahhh the nostalgia”
"He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you."
Eris has fought the greatest of monsters, but didn't take proper care to avoid BECOMING the monster. And in that time, the Darkness has taken root within her.
I'm not convinced she will become Oryx, but she will come to embody some greater aspect of the Darkness. And the Hive will hound her until she submits to becoming their newest Queen -- or seeks out Guardians to end her.
Awe Inspiring as always lore master Byf! (your the best at reading these stories and entries Byf I never get sick of listening to your lore reading's! and when I feel burned out from creating art Your stories get me back on track and push me forward in continuing to create more)

I know Byf is shying away from speculation in his main videos, but as a side series I love hearing about what this man comes up with.
Oryx “remembered” and “understood” his siblings after their true deaths and was able to revive them. Eris definitely remembers oryx and she understands and studies him more than anyone so maybe she’ll be the key that leads to his resurrection.
Two options, or three
Eris has been playing us like a fiddle and is actually evil
Eris becomes possessed and revives him and she becomes his vesil
Or
She accidentally triggers a series of events in which she already has, kill his son, kill him, find the pyramid ships, set free the Darkness, send the guardians into the raid and send a further signal which has information that leads to Oryx's resurrection.
Maybe the guardian is the sharpen blade while eris is the waiting one from the drift shit.
Kyle Oconnell we still don’t know why she is the only one being effected by the nightmares and why they follow her we will hopefully find out the second we purify her of the very last one on the fifth week of the dlc

That's amazing
In general he's very hard to listen to. I love the lore, but can I get the not over-read and overly-pronounced version, really? A simple reading would be fine, not something that takes 15 minutes to describe that could be done in 5 minutes.
@@Trollknot Personally, I enjoy the immersive tone he sets. It's like he's a Warlock Chronicler preaching the histories to Guardians in the tower library.
@@Trollknot I feel like it's amped up a lot recently. I'm gonna try to keep this positive, so if you're listening, Byf: I love your content, but the rolling r's is too much!
@@CountDravda I gotcha! i'll agree to that. Best kept positive. Just something i've noticed lately and it's been hard to shake.
Byf you are giving us so much content, thanks for all your hard work!!!
Wouldn't it be an amazing raid if we have to descend into the pyramid, where Eris has been fully corrupted and is the final boss, and then at half bar she is consumed by Nightmare energy and Oryx emerges.
Had to finally subscribe Byf is such a creative dude and he does it for us without question! I couldn’t not subscribe
Interesting take on the lore here
As I read it I felt it was desperation on the part of the Hive, trying to find some meaning out of such grand defeats at the hands of Guardians. I don't know whether they have the capability to bring him back; but to me it seems like an effort driven by insanity and grief.
In the texts they clearly show that they can't handle Oryx being wrong and therefore their whole way of life being wrong; so they conduct some very creative thinking for creating reasons as to why Oryx, even in death, must have been right.
this is how i read it as well. this isn't a step-by-step plan to resurrect oryx, this is people seeing jesus never eat crustaceans, and then they make a religious rule that no one can. the hive are finding meaning where it doesn't exist, in a desperate attempt to maintain their dogma
then again, why would bungie have gone through the trouble to lock these lore in the cryptoglyph to be found, if they didn't mean something...
Been waiting for this all day!!

I was wondering if you were gonna make a video about this. When I had that mission from Toland I knew you would fond this just as interesting. The possibility of Oryx’s resurrection
What is that shotgun he is using? It looks really cool. Also, great video Byf!
He could be part of the festival of the lost so he might make his return then
Has this theory been disproven then? Or does it remain a possibility. Before watching this just now, I assumed the heresy was that of the other three hive swapping souls, and the resurrection of Zulmak as helped by Savathún.
“Oh. Sounds like they might bring Oryx back. That’s cool-“
“RECYCLED CONTENT.”
“Wha-“

tha hive: “can we make this man so angry he comes back from the dead?”
Am I the only one who doesn't like when Eris says she can smell my hatred of the hive? I think she's just projecting her own feelings onto me.
Yea i feel it too if hive could sense the darkness, I'm pretty sure they sense her hatred as well, i swear at times her hatred even rivals present of nightmare's. You seen how phantoms backed away went she burst out quiet at them.
