I use to be until I got older. I’m also on the west coast, so getting up to be ready at 8am (essentially 4am my time wake up call) is too miserable for rope drop anymore. I also need breaks from the park to just nap and relax. The pools are a great break.

Same honestly,,I stay at good neighbor hotels because that gives me more money to spend IN the parks, I will say I think the Polynesian Resort IS worth it, I’ve never stayed there, but I go to O’hana every trip, and it’s e trembly nice, especially their very nice pool, water slide, and lounge areas

Prices have gotten out of control. I’d much rather stay at a value resort, Swan&dolphin or Disney springs and go to eat at the nice resorts and stay for longer. If you don’t like the transportation at value just take an Uber. Still way more reasonable than spending up to 900$ a night, it’s getting ridiculous especially now that the magical express is gone

The World is full of wealthy people. They come from every country, and every state in the union and it drives the cost of the Disney premium hotels sky high. The demand is there so the price stays high. Even the Swan and Dolphin are over priced in my opinion, although it is nice to be close to Epcot and Hollywood Studios , and we enjoyed our stay, but we could have stayed near Disney Springs, and cut the hotel bill in half. Walking to Epcot seems great the first day, but the blisters on your feet that night will make you want to wait for the boats, or uber to the park entrance. I thought I was in shape before the trip lol.

@@leemoore8068 I was at the Caribbean Beach Resort (CBR) back in October. They do have a quick service option, but they don't start making your food until you order it. It takes about 5 to 15 minutes for your order to be ready if you are there during peak times. There is also a "grab and go" location just off the main lobby next to the gift shop. You don't have to make reservations for any restaurant, but they are highly recommend. If you don't have one you will be on the waiting list and that could take some time for them to seat you.

    Disney World Bus Driver here:
you missed that Riverside is a multi-stop resort and during the day (non peak time) we lump FQ with Riverside.
1st stops that MK, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, & AK buses stop at multi-stop resorts:
Coronado Springs is stop 2 (Castias)
    Caribbean Beach is Martinique
    OKW is Peninsular
    Saratoga Springs is Grandstand
    Riverside is West
Disney Springs Buses act as the "internal shuttles" so their stops are different.
Coronado-Grand Destino Tower goes around all the stops and back to the tower
CB has its own internal shuttle
OKW starts at Hospitality House goes around and ends at Hospitality
Saratoga Springs starts at Congress Park
Port Orleans starts at French Quarter and then does all stops at Riverside and then back to French Quarter
Hope this helps. Also, WE HAVE NO BUSES THAT RUN TO DISNEY SPRINGS FROM THE PARKS! You have to go to any resort to catch the Disney Springs Bus.

I'm posting this comment as a PSA for folks with physical disability, mobility issues and scooter and chair users. My family stayed at Pop Century in June and a my husband has mobility issues. I believe The All Star resorts are the same set up as the Pop. The full time bed was too high for my husband to get into by himself. The pull down murphy bed requires the ability to reach over your head and the strength to pull down the bed. Bedtime was a nightly struggle. Pop is Skylines supported and is nice when it works. When it isn't running you need to take a bus which is fine if it's a Disney bus but we found 90% of the busses to be 3rd party owned and NOT handicapped accessible. One night we stood in the pouring rain and lightening for 1and 1/2 hours and 13 3rd party busses before a handicapped accessible Disney bus showed up.

If I ever have the money to stay at a deluxe I’ll be using Uber not queuing for buses.

Yep - I've noticed a lot of these youtube commentators just casually say, "And if you have kiddos (STOP saying bloody kiddos - it sounds juvenile and ridiculous!), then why not choose to stay at a resort on the monorail loop like the GF, Polynesian or Contemporary?". Yeah, sure - why not? I priced the Contemporary the other week and it was $US1200 per night. That's $2000 Australian dollars!!!! For an Ikea/ Incredibles junk room? Uuuuuuuummmmmmmmmm ................ NO.

If possible drive your own car from the hotels to the parks. We have done this three times during Covid, we always start early so get good close parking. Never have to wait on busses which have been sporadic at best. Good luck

We stayed at Riverside once, the same time as a large teenage Brazilian soccer group. Well, we always seemed to time things bad, and they were always on our bus on the tiresome ride back. Due to the large size of their group, the driver would let them off first, and go to the traditionally first, main entrance last. One night, I wanted to surprise my family with some beignets, and got into the French Quarter line, letting them know I’ll meet them back at the hotel with a surprise.
After a few minutes, that group showed up to the Port Orleans bus stop. All at once, half the line, my family included, got out of line and into mine. Confused, I asked them why… …apparently NO ONE wanted to ride the bus with that group. They would rather walk from French Quarter! 🤣

We just booked a room for July at the Pop Century resort. We thought about the all star resorts as they're a little cheaper (and my family stayed at the Toy Story hotel was a kid, so kinda nostalgic), but the deciding factor for us was that Pop Century got it's own bus, while all the All Star hotels have to share, so we didnt want to deal with not being able to get on a bus because it was full.

Technically the Caribbean Beach resort does have elevators. Each building is equipped with a freight elevator that is used by the bell men and housekeeping. By no means are people allowed on them. If a bell man uses it to get your luggage upstairs, he has to load it. Send it up and then walk up the stairs to retrieve your luggage.

Hey DFB can you cover some hotels that arent the big disney ones? You often mention "good neighbour hotels" but never explain the concept or round up any of them. Can you please do a best of the best or what to look out for in a good neighbour hotel? Maybe comparing pricepoints, and room quality and size compared to what you pay for in the official WDW hotels...

Kinda wimped out here, this year. Basically: Hotels under construction, hotels that have lots of bus stops, Skyliner Hotels for basically 2 weeks of the year, one for refurb (I know it's only half the line, but losing that access is a bid deal), the other due to Epcot's anniversary in October, and know the right hotel for your party. It's mostly common-sense stuff.
On the pool list, AJ should've mentioned the Pirate Pool at the Caribbean Beach. Kids love it (There are better waterslides than the one in the fort, IMHO).
Theming does matter. Our first trip we stayed at All-Star Movies, and while the room was small, it was a great place for a 6-year-old to stay in the Toy Story buildings. there are a lot of great themed Disney resorts that are not strictly Disney themed. Keep that in mind. OTOH, each of those resorts has at least one gift shop full of Disney merchandise, usually enough to keep the wee ones happy.
But yeah, know your group, research constructions and closures. The Ft. Wilderness cabins are great for a family, not as much if it's an adult family, and know that you're a good distance to travel to get to amenities like drink fountains, etc.
The Caribbean Beach Resort is notorious for its bus service, but if you're driving, this becomes the most centrally located moderate with quick access to anywhere.
Check out the Disney Springs hotels, and the Bonnet Creek Resorts as well.
There is no one right way to Disney, only your way, which could be club level at the Poly, completely off-property, at an All-Star resort during a cheerleader competition, etc. Research, research, research!

Disney needs to create a better queue system at their loop bus stops. Basically there's no queue so aggressive newcomers will jump onto an arriving bus in front of guests who have been waiting patiently for that next bus. This sometimes results in the bus filling up before the people who had been waiting can get on. So what can these people do; start an argument or wait for the next bus and hope history doesn't repeat itself . Not exactly a Magical Experience.

One ride we did not get to experience was the kali rapids because two people out of my group were told to get off the ride because they couldn’t buckle themselves in, so now that we are a little bit wider around the hips and that we have those belt extensions can they be use in some rides in walt Disney world without having being told we need to excuse ourselves.

The price of the deluxe resorts are just too over the top. Sure, they're close to Epcot/Studio or MK but the time saving is just not worth it. Nor are the things like restaurants or pools. I'm just not there much- I'm at the parks all day and eat nearly all my meals at the parks. It feels like literally thousands of dollars additional cost to walk through a nicer lobby to crash in my room and not much else.
