It's sad how people criticized and attacked KC when the anti-Disco movement hit around 1979-80. His music is always positive, danceable, and happy. We're all so grateful for the joy KC&TSB brings!
When you hear KC and the Sunshine Band, you immediately think of dancing. They were HUGE back in the disco days. They started up in 1973 and are still touring today. They still sound great. This song was not one of their top ones. "That's the Way I Like It" and "Get Down Tonight" are 2 of their biggest hits. Give them a listen. I promise you will be dancing in your seats.
"GIVE IT UP" was a top 10 hit in the US. KC, knowing the song would become a hit, released the song independently in the US because no studio would agree release the song. Had a major record label released the song with all of their media promotion, it could have become a top 5 hit.
KC & The Sunshine Band holds such a special place in my heart, I remember dancing around the house with my mom as a small kid while listening to them….then in 2006 I took my mom to their concert for her birthday, just me and her…it was magical. She’s been gone now 5 years and when I want to feel connected to her I play some KC & The Sunshine Band! Music helps the heart and soul so much!
Sadly Steve Dahl a Chicago radio personality got the whole anti disco movement going. Especially after he blew up disco records between a double header baseball game in 1979. Kaminsky Field were White Sox played back then
This was KC moving into the 80's from the 70's disco era. Disco was being beaten on by rock stations and people were running from disco in droves in the early 80's. MTV just came on the air and were playing videos and KC did his best to stay relevant without straying too far from his roots. This was his entry into the 80's pop, techno world.
K.C took a job as a non-paid gofer at a music label so he could hang around the studio. A few years later he wrote his first number 1 hit Rock Your Baby, sang by George McCrae. K.C is so incredibly talented! This was his “come back” song. Thanks for the reaction as always.
K C & the Sunshine Band had so many ‘feel good’ disco releases! Unsure if Rob Squad have reviewed ‘That’s the Way, I Like It’ - and you definitely would! 😍
Ah Yes!!!!!. At Last . You are playing my favourite KC and the Sunshine Band song, Yay! I bought it on 12 inch vinyl in the 80s, and I still play it to this day.
Believe it or not, this was the 80's. It came out near the end of 1982. IIRC it was KC's 2nd to last hit that made the top 40. It was Top 10 in the US in 1983.
You can hear how the band had stepped away from the formulaic disco phase with the constant thud-thud-thud on the bass drum and overuse of strings - into more of a straightforward pop/rock song. THIS one, and Boogie Shoes are my favs by KC.
I remember regularly playing KC and the Sunshine Band records at events as a DJ in the 70s. However, there is an official, if rarely seen, video that accompanies this song which has to be seen to be believed. Casey wakes up floating on a raft with his head in the lap of a girl of about 9 or 10. She is completely silvery blue, including her hair, and takes him to some sort of house of hedonism where he rescues the other band members, including the girls dressed in tight black leather, who were tied to the building's pillars. As I said you need to see it for yourself.
Really nice man. I went to see him and brought my old 8-track tape about 15 years ago. He saw it, and after the show sent his nephew to ask me if I wanted it signed. I di of course and gave it to him and he went in back with it. He came back shortly and asked me to come with him, which I did. There was Henry Wayne Casey (KC) himself sitting at a table. He asked me if it (the 8-track) still played, and I told him yes as I had worked in radio and all my carts worked. (In the day all songs played on radio had been recorded onto 4-track cartridges, which were just like 8-tracks, except for less tracks per tape so quality was not as good. Most everything was AM radio then so it was not true stereo). He was amazed. signed it gave me a bunch of cool stuff and thanked me. I was so happy. I had it in my hand the other day, I need you to see a pic so you know I am not joking.
Like so many disco acts, KC's career stopped suddenly after the Disco Backlash of 1980. This song marked his comeback as a "pop" artist, even though this is disco music without the super-heavy beat. Thanks for another trip down memory lane, Rob Squad!!
I do not think disco when I hear them, but I grow up in the 80's. I love this song, Give it Up. Which, I think came out in 1983, not Disco Era.... Such a Great Band with the Horns and Sax.... 😎
Their last number 1 song, but my favorite. I was 7 when this was released, when I heard this on the radio, I dropped everything. I love the horns on this track, even though it's repetitive, it gives the song that added punch. The na na na na na na na na na's is what makes the song memorable or better yet, identifiable.
A friend of mine had a band that opened for the Bay City Rollers. By then, the only original member was the lead singer, but the crowd still went nuts for them!
I was not a disco or funk follower and only those songs that exploded on the radio were vaguely remembered by me. It is only now that I am discovering what was great music in all the genre in play..
One of the greatest hits in early 80s..I soooo loved you reacted to it because it marked the start of the great era..Came together with THE ROMANTICS -"Talking in your sleep -" song. and DURAN DURAN " Save a prayer"
Still so many KC songs to react to. Save them for days you are feeling down. Even the more melancholy "Please Don't Go" is hard to not sway to. But the dance stuff is just mindless fun, great for bad days.
KC was big in the 70s and early 80s. ‘Boogie Shoes’ was in Saturday Night Fever. Their beats are Get down tonight and That’s the way I like it (great to disco dance to even though quite long)
You may already know this but trivia... K.C. is the stage name for the lead singer and song writer who's last name is Casey. Harry Wayne Casey. Besides being a musician and songwriter he is also a record producer.
I remember this one! KC'S comeback song, went straight to number 1 in the UK. If you like this one, try Boogie Shoes and That's The Way I Like It, which is his biggest hit.
I know the band.. but this was a song I had never heard before until I was driving home one day. Tired, hot, sweaty and "grimy" (welder) and I could not help but feel better and dance in my car in traffic. It's just a happy song. I love it.
I first heard this song when I was 2 in a half years old, 35 years ago and thank God for youtube, because I found them and listened to this song for 11 years every single day!! I love this song!!
Even though I've seen a few people in the comments mention this bot being one of their biggest songs, here in Australia this song was actually huge and played on the radio well until the late 2000s.
Thank you for that! I haven't heard this song in at least 40 years. And just like that, I was singing along like it was yesterday. Thanks for the smile guys!!!
This song was released in 1982 so they are introducing even more "pop"/electronic sounds that were popular at that time. This band brings back such great memories for me as a small kid dancing around the living room with my mom or aunts. Great reaction!!
Their slow, non-dance song is "Please Don't Go." It's a great young love song/breakup song. LOL, my wife and I were just talking about what a great "instruments" band KC had.
This song was a constant on the radio when I was a child. It can literally take me back to moments with family, getting ears pierced, going to the rivers, catching small fishes and releasing them, feeling them nibbling at your feet. They were the best times.
They have a great slow song - “Please Don’t Go”. Probably my favorite KC song.
Love that song!
Love that song. They reacted to it already :-)
Love Please don't go. It was my very first break up song.
Makes me feel like I'm young again...
@@waitn4theharpazo - Oh, I don’t remember that! They should know that KC has more than one type of vibe then!
It's sad how people criticized and attacked KC when the anti-Disco movement hit around 1979-80. His music is always positive, danceable, and happy. We're all so grateful for the joy KC&TSB brings!
We could use some happy music these days. Too much violence and hate now. This music brings me back to a happier time 🎵🎶
When you hear KC and the Sunshine Band, you immediately think of dancing. They were HUGE back in the disco days. They started up in 1973 and are still touring today. They still sound great. "Get down tonight" is my favorite.
Give it up was huge here in the UK. Made number 1 😃
I love how perfectly they transitioned into the 80's with this song. It's just so...80's 😅
"GIVE IT UP" was a top 10 hit in the US. KC, knowing the song would become a hit, released the song independently in the US because no studio would agree release the song. Had a major record label released the song with all of their media promotion, it could have become a top 5 hit.

K.c and the sunshine band are DISCO personified !
Who said disco sucks ? NOT ME
People who can't dance.
we need disco back
Sadly Steve Dahl a Chicago radio personality got the whole anti disco movement going. Especially after he blew up disco records between a double header baseball game in 1979. Kaminsky Field were White Sox played back then

Rock Your Baby was the song that inspired Bjorn and Benny to write Dancing Queen for ABBA.
@@dggydddy59 I didn't know he wrote Rock Your Baby but after your remark, I can see how that would be an influence on Dancing Queen.
Great knowledge, love rock you baby. 👍🏾
Saw him with Gladys Night and da pips in 78
I miss Roller Skating to this back in middle school 🥰
KC went to high school with my parents here in Hialeah, Florida! Love them!
KC at his best.

also Get Down Tonight
POWER TO DISCO
Sitting in bed at 11pm bopping away, knowing this will end up being an earworm for the next few day but you can't help getting into this song.
🇬🇧🥰
The DJ at our wedding 22 years ago played Boogie Shoes, and EVERYONE came out on the dance floor! It was awesome!
This music has a summer feel to it! Cheery and Warm.
Ah Yes!!!!!. At Last . You are playing my favourite KC and the Sunshine Band song, Yay! I bought it on 12 inch vinyl in the 80s, and I still play it to this day.

@@nebelungpixie9373 oh yeah! Rather cringe in retrospect. Still, the music is great!
Dance music… And did we dance. I am thankful for the disco era, it was so much fun and a lot of energy
Every time I saw him perform on various shows on TV, his smile was what I remember as much as the music.
Tomorrow's female Friday! PLEASE Christine McVie of Fleetwood Mac. "Everywhere, Over my head, You make loving Fun
I love this band from a teenager!!! Thanks for sharing....love you guys!!!
KC and Miami, love em.
KC was one of the very 1st disco band moving the music into the disco but the first disco group was O-Jays

Love love love KC and The Sunshine Band ! Man it was great on the weekends at the skating rink ! Won lots of Bump contest to KC’S music 😂
Good evening happy to see some cheerful people!
Jay/Amber, their "That's the Way (I Like It)" and "Get Down Tonight" are next for you!! Those horns are the icing on the cake!
Fun song from the disco era. Good to hear it again!
It's funny how a song can change your mood thanks for the positivity the world could use more of it
Love love love KC....Listened to them on 45 records. Great memories of great music
Have used their whole catalogue to improve my mental health over the last few years. A real gift

80S FOREVER
One song out of their genre is Please Don't Go, a great ballad worth reacting to
I remember this being number 1 in the UK in 1983. Such a great song. Reminds me of my youth
A Huge dance song by KC is "Do you want to go Party" the dance floor will fill up every time this song came on
Yep definitely KC and the Sunshine Band ! Somebody wanna dance??
One of their best and my favorite "Please Don't Go" I think this slower song will surprise you
I don’t remember hearing this back in the day. I was introduced to it in the movie “The Kingsman”. Great song, great movie.
This totally makes me want to go listen to Fine Young Cannibals, I can’t believe how much he sounds like them.
One of my favorite kcandthesunshineband songs it actually came out 1983 was one of their last long! All their songs are so fun and danceable!
I heard this at a skating rink in the early 80s, still my favorite song by them.
I do not think disco when I hear them, but I grow up in the 80's. I love this song, Give it Up. Which, I think came out in 1983, not Disco Era.... Such a Great Band with the Horns and Sax.... 😎
My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time. 🙏
Teri Desario did a duet with KC called "Yes I'm ready" sweet little love song.
Amazing Song ❤️
For a completely different but amazing sound from KCSB, "Please Don't Go." It's a treat.
Their last number 1 song, but my favorite. I was 7 when this was released, when I heard this on the radio, I dropped everything. Huge hit in the UK .....always loved Queen Of Clubs by them, so much energy ❤️
1983. This was originally a solo effort. Then he eventually reformed The Sunshine Band. You can hear the 80s driving beat in this one.
Does anyone remember "Bay City Rollers" I get these two bands confused. I love KC so smooth. Great choice
A friend of mine had a band that opened for the Bay City Rollers. By then, the only original member was the lead singer, but the crowd still went nuts for them!
@@LiberalsArePoop I loved that song! Thanks for memory boost
KC & TSB we’re light years apart from The Bay City Rollers. The Bay City Rollers did bubblegum disco and pop, KC did funk and disco
I was not a disco or funk follower and only those songs that exploded on the radio were vaguely remembered by me.
It is only now that I am discovering what was great music in all the genre in play..
This probably my favourite KC song! I just love this music!
I grew up with this disco record, together with my first dance moves when I was 15 years old. How time flies. 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎸🎸🎸
Hearing KC and the sunshine band and their horns... Made me think of the group LTD from the 70's. "Back In Love Again"So funky!
"Keep It Coming Luv" my favorite KC and the Sunshine Band song!

My wife and I were very fortunate to get to see them in concert in Hawaii about 20 years ago and they were still FUNKY!!!
Probably their slowest non-dancing song is "Please Don't Go." You still need to do their arguably biggest hit, "Get Down Tonight"
KC was big in the 70s and early 80s. ‘Boogie Shoes’ was in Saturday Night Fever. Their beats are Get down tonight and That’s the way I like it (great to disco dance to even though quite long)

We play this song at All our Family reunion from when I was a kid even til now this song brings so much memories I can never get sick of it

Catchy tune. You can hear the their transition from disco to 80s pop in this one.

The whistling sound is a flute. Flutes sometimes popped up in disco records.
