Love that I grew up in the 70's. Best music ever. Rock, Disco, R&B. We had everything.
Me too!
You bet! 70's are the best!
Same. Born in '67
Yaaasss!!!!!
The charts were also so mixed with genres. You could find pop, rock, soft rock, R&B, funk, disco all on the charts right into the Eighties.
The 1970s was the best time for music, I was so happy to be a part of that era
you bet cha!! was in my 20s!!
Me too
When everyone no matter what color you were knew how to have fun.. Best decade
Amen to that sis ! ♥️
Really was....so glad I came of age in this decade....
We lived in the best color-- blind times of disco and r&b music. Hands down. 🥳👍
Facts
@@vegasbaby3669 great music .. unites !!
It says in my diary from when I was 11 that this Is my favorite song!
I was a little kid in the 70s and my mom and aunt would move out furniture and have a dance party with 8 of us kids! Love the reaction!! We would dance our little hearts out to this!
Sounds like we lived at the same house so much fun memories ✌
We had 7 kids when this came out.. We danced in our station wagon on the way to the beach! Good days!
No need to move the furniture- we just danced on top of the bed...😂💃💃💃💃💃
and I had just graduated from high school "71"
That is an awesome story about your mom and aunt with the kids dancing. What family is all about!
KC is still performing. He had retired but one of his backup singers convinced him to tour again. He is older and a little heavier but the music holds up to this day and will get your "Bootie " up and dancing.
You must’ve seen us on Unsung. I’m the back up singer you referring to. Beverly Champion Foster in the yellow. Great memories.
This was our Friday night heading to the high school football song!!! The horns are killing it. This is when white and black made amazing music together.
Facts
Dam straight.
Kudos to KC for integrating his band mates 🎶🎵
Amen None of today's nonsense.
We sure had fun dancing in the discos in the 70's.
You 2 sure make videos fun to wstch.😅
These Brothers Could BRING DA FUNK & Fill The Dance Floor,, Average White Band "Cut The Cake" & "Pick Up The Pieces"..TRUST ME!!
@@ffjsb You might say they "Kilt" the Funk!
Other big hits (meaning big-sellers that were played on the radio a lot) from KC and the Sunshine Band were "Get Down Tonight" (1975), "Shake Your Booty" (1976), and "I'm Your Boogie Man" (1976). Since y'all liked this, you would probably also like the group Heatwave from this time period; they had big radio hits with "Boogie Nights" (1976) and "The Groove Line" (1977), and Brick would probably also appeal to you, with hits like "Dazz" (1976) and "Dusic" (1977), all with that seventies disco-funk sound that gets you moving.
You're the first besides myself to suggest Brick. Great call. The bass line in "Dazz" is still fresh today. And it's been sampled by various hip hop artists.
I'm in heaven just reading the titles...hahahahahaha
Heck yeah!!!
Those were the best days of my life. Used to listed to KSOL in the bay area back in the 70's. Most everyone I knew at the time was listening to KFRC though. Won a dance contest to "Groove Line" in 77 maybe a day or two after it debuted. And many dances closed to their other hit in 78, "Always and forever".
She's a brick....house, She's Mighty Mighty, just letting in all hang out. I didn't exactly know what it meant hearing on the radio on the way to grade school, but it was a good thing apparently.
Break out the roller skates! And dig that bass line and those horns! When you're ready for more from KC & The Sunshine Band check out some of these -- "Keep It Comin' Love", "Boogie Shoes", "Shake Your Booty", and "Get Down Tonight".
Definitely must do Keep it comin Love ..
Back then in those wonderful happy days,KC & the Sunshine Band were on everyone’s party playlist.
The parties,oh the parties, and not a phone in sight, just people enjoying themselves.
Damn,I miss the 70’s.
Gotta listen to "I'm your boogie man" and " Please don't go". They have a lot of great songs
A truly happy song that makes everyone smile. When my grandchild opens his mouth real wide for a favorite bite of food I sing this at him, "That's the thing you like it, uh ha, oh ha!" LOL
You two never fail to make me smile... thumbs up for my guilty addiction to Asia and BJ Reactions .... yep and Amen.
I love these two. They always make me smile. And put me in a better mood.
Me too, love them!
15 years old and life was amazing! Large group of friends that all sang this together whenever we heard it!! 1975 and I have GREAT memories. Smiling all the way through this!
Back In The Day,, Many High School Bands Covered This Song With The Dance Moves & Everything..My High School Did & They Did A Great Job.
Thats the way Asia and BJ like it!!!!!!! I grew up on this music from the 70's... Best genre of music in my opinion. I was 7 when this came out. The kind of music that makes you MOVE!!!!! Love your energy in all your reactions. Keep grooving!!!!!!!
Oh, yeah! Killer horn section, those sweet backup vocals...I miss this era of music so much. The soundtrack of my youth. Thanks for the listen and reaction!
Sounds like it might be time for a disco night live.
When I see these bands, I see unity among different people. What happened between then and now?
The media.
The media IS the virus.
I wonder as well.
I agree where is the diversity nowadays.. Makes me crazy
Fox "News"
@@JasonCarney. weak excuse, CNN, MSNBC are the biggest race baiters on TV.
Check out one of their top hits Get Down Tonight. It's FIRE FIRE!✌
I was 15 years old in 1975 and we danced all night to KC & The Sunshine band.
one of the best dance song you can't get out of your head.
actually played this song on high school graduation ceremony, everyone in the whole school ground just dance. The teachers, ex (graduating) students, and parents.
I was dancing my heart and ass off every time I heard this song......in dance clubs EVERY WHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was in College and we my friends and I were getting down with the "FUNK!!!" Y'All!!!!!! Man..............wish you guys were there!!!!!!
I'm laughing so hard, lol, with your comments. But seriously, this video is amazing to watch for its historical and cultural value...like going back through a time machine. Look how dynamic all the performers are...and the clothes! How much fun did we have back then? What a happy, uplifting song, too.🎵🎶
I was 10 when this came out and we danced like crazy to all their songs!
❤️ 🎶
1975... memorable for me. I was in the military (Air Force) and my first child was born. I was living in Miami,FL then and they were on the radio almost all the time for a few years. Memories! :)
70's horn sections are one of God's greatest creations.
I love them! I think my favorite is "Get Down Tonight" or "Boogy Man"
Class of 1975, jammed hard to this song.
Gotta check out their video for "I'm Your Boogie Man," another #1 hit.
ahhh, my first ever concert. I was just a wee lad and our parents took us to the Kansas City Worlds of Fun Amusement Park and KC and the Sunshine Band played at the amphitheater. Suzanne Summers of Threes Company fame and later the Thigh Master spokesperson opened up for them.
You can't stand still when you listen to this , I remember watching Soul Train every weekend when I was a kid in the 70's , what a great era for music , all genres were great !
4Words" I'm Your Boogie Man".Guaranteed to get Asia dancing.
love your reaction and your personalities and love for the music, i grew up to this era of music and at the roller skate rink, i am now a 58 year old white guy with a funky side
My first concert. I was 15 dancing with girls 18 to 20. Precious memories!!!!
I saw them the summer of '75 in Norfolk, Va.
I was 10yrs old in 75. This jam is so ingrained in my brain!
Holy Crap... I was 17 when this came out. Still sounds groovy
Lol, Bj says " he got a big forehead ". I was 5 years old in 75. Believe it or not I used to watch soul train even as a little white boy. Soul train us where you got all the good music. Loved this reaction. Send love out to you guys ❤
You misspelled Midnight Special, American Bandstand, and Don Kirshner's Rock Concert but Soul Train was good too.
🎉best music 4😢we had it all 🎉id not need intetnet cell phones or 🎉😢😢🎉v😢🎉idio games good times 3:21
I was 7 years old when this came out. It shook me. I was so fortunate growing up with all the best music. It is so much fun seeing you two reacting this way. I just love it. I feel so good.
I saw KC in Florida two years ago and he sounded as good as ever. The Sunshine Band was awesome!
I saw them around 76 at Six Flags in St Louis Mo., they were great!!! everyone was on their feet the whole time. This song was probably their biggest hit and took over like Old Town Road did a couple of years ago.
Oh goodness we would roller skate to this on Saturday morning and rock it at the club Saturday nights
You two are so much fun! Great reaction and watch out for that forehead…🤣
Funny stuff!😂
They had many good upbeat songs mid 70s or so. Harry Casey is underated to me. Wrote songs, probably a few for the band. Good time music indeed!
I worked at Disney World after high school (1978) and I was in my costume walking through the tunnels and he and the band walked up beside me and talked with me the whole time. Really nice guys.
This is the first song that I had ever heard by K.C. And The Sunshine Band. And it's pure solid gold for making you want to move your feet.
Got to see them in person in 1973 Grad Night. Love them
Hell yea, loved all their hits. Go BJ go!!
I’ve never seen you guys laugh so hard! Asia has such a pretty smile.
Yes! She has the prettiest smile!😎
Favorite song by them is I'm Your Boogie Man (or us the title just Boogie Man) and Rob Zombie did an awesome cover of it.
Shoooot!! the dancing with the horns and all that you see in marching bands now came from back in the day!! You didn't know Lol!!!
I loved this song as a kid🤣😁I loved Soul Train! 😘
Here's to hoping we get to see more reactions to KC & The Sunshine Band.
I was in high school when this came out. We got down!💃
Actually the dance we did to this song was called The Bump. "Tons O' Fun" on the dance floor with that one. 👍
Hey you guys reminded me of back when I saw a band in the Flint Michigan area. So the core of the band like the drums and the bass and the guitar player stayed on the stage but the horn section walked around as they played. It was a trip because part of the music was coming from the stage and then part of it was walking around and surrounding you it was pretty cool
I was 18 when this was "the thing" and it WAS an absolute blast! Y'all are an absolute joy to watch do these reactions. I laugh so hard when y'all get going. Thanks so much! God bless!
I grew up in late 60s 70s too. This music holds up to the test of time!! Can't say that about the shit now.
We'll see in 50 years if grannies will still be twerking.
🤔🤔Um, yes, it would be insane to say "sh!t" being created today stands the test of time due to the simple fact that it's NEW, & hasn't had the time to test how it stands. 😬 However, there is music being created today that's far better than the sunshine band & will w/o a doubt stand up over time. Perhaps your just listening to the wrong "sh!t"🤔
@@j.h.3777 What are ya sayin bruh? That Grannies today are still out doing the "funky flashback"? 🤔 Yeah, I don't think they're doin the bump or the lawnmower either, nor should they be. 😊
@@klintburns7230 I'm not a bruh but if there's dancing, we're doing the bump at some point in the evening! : P
The 70's were amazing! So much great music. Thankfully I got to enjoy it when it happened :)
KC and these guys jam then and still sounds good''!!! Y'all hold on while I grow my Afro!!!
You know I was jammin on this at the skating rink, back in the late 70s when i was in middle school.
I wish I could ❤ this reaction so good so fun
man i haven't listened to this in years! ya'll had me dance too
One of my favorite songs as a child (9 yo) and still is. Please react to their other songs: Boogie Man, Get Down Tonight, and Shake Your Booty
KC was "Casey" - and yes he brought together an amazing band. So much fun - a disco pioneer. I love KC's voice, but it's the drums, congas, backup singers, horn section, guitars... they bring it all together and give it that sound. They called it "disco", but I think it was "funk." But definitions don't really matter - KC & The Sunshine Band (name for Florida, the Sunshine State, where they got together) was so much fun. P.S. Back in the day, I saw them on "Soul Train" (the video here) and also on "American Bandstand." That says a lot right there about how they crossed over genres and racial lines. That was so good for all!
It's impossible to sit still with this song. But most of their songs are like this. The Miami sound!
I don't even want to know anyone who doesn't move and smile when watching/listening to this.
I was to young to hit the clubs... but spent a LOT of time in the roller skating rinks!! This music was EVERY WHERE!
I was a teen when this came out. The guys in our high school band played KC all the time on the band bus. ❤️
A Baltimore, Md. boy , now lives in Cary,NC with a recording studio. He still writes music and performs.
Disco darlings of the 70s, and yes you did get up and dance and it was the bomb
I remember this song being popular in clubs in Liverpool in the 1970s.
"Keep It Coming Love" is another of their tracks that when I hear it even now after all these years, I have to listen to it a second time, and it'll be looping in my head all days.
My first favorite band growing up!
I was ten years old when this song came out, and it was really, really popular. A teenage babysitter of ours at the time had a big crush on KC and had seen the group in concert a couple of times.
My girlfriends and myself also had a big crush on KC. His dimples were so cute!
Agree, I was 6
Takes me back to childhood, thanks
We had the best dance music in the 70's. The bands had horn sections, maracas, tambourines, bongo drums, regular drums, pianos, bass guitars, regular guitars. It was fun, feel good music! You couldn't help moving once the music came on.💃🕺Dancing the soul trains were so fun! Love watching you younger people enjoying the awesome music we grew up with.❤🥰
Ol 5-heads😂😂😂 Yes, he definitely shoulda said that, caught me completely off guard and was hilarious🤗😉keep it up y'all🤘🏼
That horn section gives me life. You guys should do a disco night.
Growing up in the 70's was the best time. So many bands, so many genre's great music.
You can't sit down when their hits come on.
The sounds of my childhood. I saw them in concert a few years ago. They sound exactly the same! 💕 Now please listen to “ Get down tonight”!!! 💕💕
I saw them live in the 70's, they were awesome!!! You couldn't take your eyes off the horn section!! I don't think we sat down the entire concert! Love your reaction!!!
EVERY body was on the dance floor when this track was played in the clubs!!!!!
KC’s first hit. This song set the tone for several years to come. ❤️😁
This band birthed a whole movement in music. They put Disco on the map along with Earth, Wind and Fire, Pointer Sisters, Parliament Funkadelic. There can be no dance CD that doesn't include at least one or two KC & Sunshine Band songs.
I remember this song when it came out. My older sister all went to the concert. I was WAY to young, but I remember the outfits and Bell bottom clacks and the Poet blouses with big colliers and frilly sleeves. They looked so good. If you liked this one have a listen to a One hit wonder that was one of the first to really make me notice Music. Silver Convention - Fly Robin Fly (1975).
The radio/record version had a very unique intro and you knew what was coming...
Loving the energy 🤣💃🕺
Wow! Memories. I remember this when it aired the first time! Yeah I'm old. Dig it.
Yea, these guys and Earth Wind and Fire were just amazing. Talk about defining an era. You hear one of these songs come on and you can't help but start groovin.
Next up has to be "I'm Your Boogie Man" from 1977. It's such a great song with the best horns . 🌞
Saw KC and the Sunshine Band in the 90’s.Great concert, people of all colors just enjoying great music together.
Your smiles and your fun with each other make me smile.
Asia your voice and song at the beginning is one of the best things I’ve ever heard! So buttery smooth and divine feminine queen 👸🏽 soulful upliftment and melt my soul. Wow! I love it
That came outta my hometown, Miami!, as did the bulk of disco artists, and plenty of funk and soul.
Great Band ! I love KC and the Sunshine Band! Pure Genius!❤
