KC is still performing. He had retired but one of his backup singers convinced him to tour again. He is older and a little heavier but the music holds up to this day and will get your "Bootie " up and dancing.
I was a little kid in the 70s and my mom and aunt would move out furniture and have a dance party with 8 of us kids! Love the reaction!! We would dance our little hearts out to this!
Back then in those wonderful happy days,KC & the Sunshine Band were on everyone’s party playlist. The parties,oh the parties, and not a phone in sight, just people enjoying themselves. Damn,I miss the 70’s.
This was our Friday night heading to the high school football song!!! The horns are killing it. This is when white and black made amazing music together.
15 years old and life was amazing! Large group of friends that all sang this together whenever we heard it!! 1975 and I have GREAT memories. Smiling all the way through this!
Other big hits (meaning big-sellers that were played on the radio a lot) from KC and the Sunshine Band were "Get Down Tonight" (1975), "Shake Your Booty" (1976), and "I'm Your Boogie Man" (1976). Since y'all liked this, you would probably also like the group Heatwave from this time period; they had big radio hits with "Boogie Nights" (1976) and "The Groove Line" (1977), and Brick would probably also appeal to you, with hits like "Dazz" (1976) and "Dusic" (1977), all with that seventies disco-funk sound that gets you moving.
You're the first besides myself to suggest Brick. Great call. The bass line in "Dazz" is still fresh today. And it's been sampled by various hip hop artists.
Those were the best days of my life. Used to listed to KSOL in the bay area back in the 70's. Most everyone I knew at the time was listening to KFRC though. Won a dance contest to "Groove Line" in 77 maybe a day or two after it debuted. And many dances closed to their other hit in 78, "Always and forever".
She's a brick....house, She's Mighty Mighty, just letting in all hang out. I didn't exactly know what it meant hearing on the radio on the way to grade school, but it was a good thing apparently.
Break out the roller skates! And dig that bass line and those horns! When you're ready for more from KC & The Sunshine Band check out some of these -- "Keep It Comin' Love", "Boogie Shoes", "Shake Your Booty", and "Get Down Tonight".
Oh, yeah! Killer horn section, those sweet backup vocals...I miss this era of music so much. The soundtrack of my youth. Thanks for the listen and reaction!
A truly happy song that makes everyone smile. When my grandchild opens his mouth real wide for a favorite bite of food I sing this at him, "That's the thing you like it, uh ha, oh ha!" LOL
love your reaction and your personalities and love for the music, i grew up to this era of music and at the roller skate rink, i am now a 58 year old white guy with a funky side
Thats the way Asia and BJ like it!!!!!!! I grew up on this music from the 70's... Best genre of music in my opinion. I was 7 when this came out. The kind of music that makes you MOVE!!!!! Love your energy in all your reactions. Keep grooving!!!!!!!
1975... memorable for me. I was in the military (Air Force) and my first child was born. I was living in Miami,FL then and they were on the radio almost all the time for a few years. Memories! :)
one of the best dance song you can't get out of your head. actually played this song on high school graduation ceremony, everyone in the whole school ground just dance. The teachers, ex (graduating) students, and parents.
ahhh, my first ever concert. I was just a wee lad and our parents took us to the Kansas City Worlds of Fun Amusement Park and KC and the Sunshine Band played at the amphitheater. Suzanne Summers of Threes Company fame and later the Thigh Master spokesperson opened up for them.
I love KC and the Sunshine Band!!!!! That's the way I like it my favorite!!! I'm your Boogie Man another fav. Grew up in the '70s love disco!!! Another group Chic Le Freak, and Good Times.
Asia your voice and song at the beginning is one of the best things I’ve ever heard! So buttery smooth and divine feminine queen 👸🏽 soulful upliftment and melt my soul. Wow! I love it
A true Miami band !!! I saw them perform a year before they hit it big at a school dance at my school, Miami Coral Park High here in the SW Miami area called Westchester...I was 14. Most of the band members were from the Miami/Ft Lauderdale area. KC (real name was Casey) was a native of Hialeah,Fl
I worked at Disney World after high school (1978) and I was in my costume walking through the tunnels and he and the band walked up beside me and talked with me the whole time. Really nice guys.
I saw them around 76 at Six Flags in St Louis Mo., they were great!!! everyone was on their feet the whole time. This song was probably their biggest hit and took over like Old Town Road did a couple of years ago.
Listen, I’m 53 years old from Miami and I actually lived for two years in Hialeah where KC is from. Back in the day growing up when you thought of Miami, you thought of KC I mean that’s it! He was everything, and he’s a brilliant musician.
You can't stand still when you listen to this , I remember watching Soul Train every weekend when I was a kid in the 70's , what a great era for music , all genres were great !
I was dancing my heart and ass off every time I heard this song......in dance clubs EVERY WHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was in College and we my friends and I were getting down with the "FUNK!!!" Y'All!!!!!! Man..............wish you guys were there!!!!!!
I'm laughing so hard, lol, with your comments. But seriously, this video is amazing to watch for its historical and cultural value...like going back through a time machine. Look how dynamic all the performers are...and the clothes! How much fun did we have back then? What a happy, uplifting song, too.🎵🎶
In 1975 I was a 10 year old Kid KC lived in the same Neighborhood in Miami Lakes. He bought the Home next door to him to build a tennis court.I also remaber he had a bunch of little speed boats that all his friends to use on the weekends.I also do remember alot of Parties and Women at his crib!
I was 7 years old when this came out. It shook me. I was so fortunate growing up with all the best music. It is so much fun seeing you two reacting this way. I just love it. I feel so good.
This was a great dance song when I was in high school. And I thank my older sister to this day for teaching me how to dance. A few years out of high school I saw them in concert and their energy and showmanship was Fantastic.
Hey you guys reminded me of back when I saw a band in the Flint Michigan area. So the core of the band like the drums and the bass and the guitar player stayed on the stage but the horn section walked around as they played. It was a trip because part of the music was coming from the stage and then part of it was walking around and surrounding you it was pretty cool
This song came out when I was 14, and maaaaaaan it was OOOOONNNNNN!!! I mean the era of the late 60s-80s was probably the greatest era of music in general. There was soooo much great music and this was just a CUT! You CANNOT sit still for this song :) The horn section was getting their cardio IN! :D I’m 62 now but you best believe, if this song comes on, I’m *STILL* hittin’ the dance flo LOL!!
KC was "Casey" - and yes he brought together an amazing band. So much fun - a disco pioneer. I love KC's voice, but it's the drums, congas, backup singers, horn section, guitars... they bring it all together and give it that sound. They called it "disco", but I think it was "funk." But definitions don't really matter - KC & The Sunshine Band (name for Florida, the Sunshine State, where they got together) was so much fun. P.S. Back in the day, I saw them on "Soul Train" (the video here) and also on "American Bandstand." That says a lot right there about how they crossed over genres and racial lines. That was so good for all!
It's really good to see you young people enjoying listening to the disco era ,I was in college in 1975 It was truly a good time to be young doing that time, the music the fashion and the hair my grandkids love to laugh about how we looked back then, they have know idea the fun I had riding around in my 1967 Impala listening to my 8 tracks
I was ten years old when this song came out, and it was really, really popular. A teenage babysitter of ours at the time had a big crush on KC and had seen the group in concert a couple of times.
Omg high School and our high school band actually played this halftime 😂😂 used to work at a teen Disco this would bring out all the people that wanted to bump 😊
We had the best dance music in the 70's. The bands had horn sections, maracas, tambourines, bongo drums, regular drums, pianos, bass guitars, regular guitars. It was fun, feel good music! You couldn't help moving once the music came on.💃🕺Dancing the soul trains were so fun! Love watching you younger people enjoying the awesome music we grew up with.❤🥰
When I went to London in the summer of 2017 to see Bat out of hell the musical I also went to see KC on his first trip there since the 20th century. There have been many opportunities to see the old stars perform in the new century. A couple of years ago I saw Linda Gail Lewis, sister of Jerry Lee Lewis, here in Sweden touring at the age of 72.
I was 18 when this was "the thing" and it WAS an absolute blast! Y'all are an absolute joy to watch do these reactions. I laugh so hard when y'all get going. Thanks so much! God bless!
Love that I grew up in the 70's. Best music ever. Rock, Disco, R&B. We had everything.
Me too!
You bet! 70's are the best!
Same. Born in '67
