You guys just don't know. Living in the 70s was amazing. The radio and music was on everywhere. At home and in the car. There were no cell phones, no internet, no video games, no cable TV and we were happy as hell.
I was a youngster in the 70's and I can relate to your comments. Though we had "Pong" for our video game. We were always listening to music. Cassettes, reel to reel, 8-track or just the radio we always had some device on and enjoying the day. Summer was unbelievable in those days.
Facts Jeff! I wonder what the world would be like if all of those things still didn't exist. Probably happy as hell, because we wouldn't know any better! I thought recording the top 10 count down by placing the microphone on my cassette recorder next to my clock radio speaker, was genius 😅.
how many of ya walked into a bar in the 80s and heard this song playing....all the time. there were a lot of "disco" bars back then with dance floors in small town america.
Kool & the Gang is an American R&B/funk band formed in 1964. They had their biggest hits in the 70's-80's such as "Jungle Boogie", "Hollywood Swinging", "Spirit Of The Boogie", "Ladies' Night", "Celebration", "Joanna", "Misled", "Cherish" etc."
This song is such a vibe. I have loved this song ever since the first time I heard it. I swear I should have been born in the 60s cuz 70s music is 🔥 I love 80s as well. I'm a 80s baby. But still 70s & 80s music is full of bangers.
Wife here..Wore this record out!!..Kool and the Gang were so Cool...Amazing catalog of Great music!! Love Your Reactions!!..So well said you guys..YOU JUST HEAR THIS and LIGHT UP!! ..GETS YOU MOVING!!
A few years ago I and my female friend attended a Kool and the Gang concert. Visualize this scene. North Central Indiana, Honeywell Center in Wabash, IN. The venue had 1,500 seats and the audience was older predominantly Caucasian people. The group had replacements due to their age, but the band sounded just like the original group. We stood the whole concert and acted like kids again. I was so amazed at the hits I had forgotten about. Wonderful performance!
This was one of my dance songs. I continue to listen and dance, even byself. Groove music, house cleaning music and picnic song. You have to move thru this song. 💥🫶
You can't go wrong with Kool & The Gang. And I'm glad to see that you two know good music when you hear it. They had so many good songs and one I wish you would check out is "Take My Heart."
I'm a 62 year old white woman and still get down on this! Still love Kool and the gang and all the groups of that era, Earth Wind and Fire, Commodore's, Heatwave, Al B Sure, Ohio Players, Slave, SOS, and so many more!
Asia you are so right about the instruments. As an 8 year old in elementary school I went to use the bathroom during class and I was blown away by what I heard.... music from the music class. I stood at the door of the music class and I was mesmerized by the amazing sounds coming fro the students. Mr. Portnoy asked me if I were interested and my appreciation of all music was born. I went on to play trumpet, trombone and sax that Mr. Portnoy taught me. He taught me to read and write music and I will forever be grateful to Mr. Portnoy as that was 55 years ago. Play an instrument and you will learn to appreciate music on a different level.
One of my favorite songs by them.. still today I have to move to it. Love Kool & the Gang will always be a great band from the good old day's. I'm really miss that time
Woww, so Kool. How can anybody not dance to this?! I had no choice in the matter my body just started to move lol💃. Thanks for your great reaction. It made me so happy 😀💥💕😘.
Yes definitely a fam favourite where everyone young & old knew the words AND how to move to this beat!!! It didn't matter where you were at any given time, cos as soon as the music started....we just fell into the groove, just like that!❤ Love how your reactions and comments always make me THINK about the song more than I normally do. And I'm loving & learning so much...Thanks to you both💞💞
Saw these guys about 8 years ago. One of those groups you forget about but when they play you recognize every song. Great positive energy. Before the concert they had spent whole day with kids from Boy and Girl's club of America,, and the kids were all right there next to stage. When they sang Lady's Night it was a serenade to these girls and everyone went crazy. Very positive experience.
Back in 2011, Kool And The Gang opened (50 dates) for Van Halen's 'A Different Kind Of Truth' Tour. It was the ultimate 'hard rock' party band paired up with the ultimate 'pop/funk' party band. 50% of the audience for both of the bands were female.
I'm digging the two of you as reaction hosts! You have no idea how BOMB these guys were live! Back then concert tours would be like five FUNKY bands & the audience would be sweating as much as the performers! Check out Jungle Boogie, it is another jam!
One of Kool and the Gang's best! I last saw them live about 5 or 6 years ago when they played in Vancouver WA at an open park for a summer's end festival. Didn't know that that would be the last time that I could see a couple of their band members, may they rest in peace! If you guys like this tune you will also love "Misled", please do a reaction to it.
Perfect skating tempo & beat, & all so electric slide line dance. When lead singer JT Taylor joined the group, like 1980, it really gave a lift to the band & that played out in the many hits they had in the ‘80’s. 👍🏾
Man I love their horn section but the funny thing is the drummer is just straight ahead yet all the other instruments for doing all the syncopation to give it that funk
My first radio, handheld AM/FM 9volt battery with a 4ft. antenna and the volume always dialed up to 10 when the DJ played these fellas. Ah the good ole days.
Check out Hollywood Swinging or Jungle Boogie off of their 1973 album Wild and Peaceful. I still got that album. I got a couple of Funkadelic albums still, Standing On the Verge of Getting It On and Cosmic Slop. Great music !
The only good thing to be said for getting old, is that I lived through this wonderful time for music and really did Get down on it! 🤗 I wouldn't have missed it for the world..... The best of times...xx
Yeah girl you are right now having all those instruments that is the magic I hope one day of the kids will get back into playing instruments and putting bands together but I don't know all I can do is hope
Took my daughter and granddaughter to see Kool & the Gang in Feb. to see them in Vegas. They are still great, there wasn't one person sitting in their seat.
Kool and the gang started out as a kind of jazz funk fusion band. They got james (j.t.) taylor later and started making these jams. Check out summer madness and winter sadness, both by kool and the gang
My first Kool & The Gang album was 1973 " Wild and Peaceful " if you want to check out some of their early stuff. But the Something Special album is fantastic !
When I was a teen, Kool & The Gang was my feeling good music for sure ! .. ANd as a francophone, for me it was the beginning of using the word 'cool' in my life ! When something was cool, it was 'cool and the gang' 😄
Asia! The college band sound is part of the reason I'm obsessed with Beyonces "Homecoming"...if you haven't seen it, even if you're not a fan, you'll love it! Love u guys!
My favourite Kool & the Gang song, this is such a great song, as cool, groovy, vibrant and positive now as the day it was written, simply brilliant..........
Music was so much more communal in the seventies and eighties. Now everyone has their earbuds in. This is just fun! Thanks for this channel, you two are so great.
Early Kool and The Gang, like Hollywood Swingin', Jungle Boogie and their instrumental masterpiece Summer Madness are some of my favorites that you will like and should check out!
My favorite Kool & the Gang song! I remember this playin on the radio in my momma’s Ford LTD when I was a kid. Me in back singing to the top of my lungs! 😆
I just wanted to say I've been watching your pod cast the last few days and love it. I grew up in the Disco and Funk era, I'm a 60+ year old hippie and this type of music gets down deep in my soul, you 2 are awesome ✌
You guys just don't know. Living in the 70s was amazing. The radio and music was on everywhere. At home and in the car. There were no cell phones, no internet, no video games, no cable TV and we were happy as hell.

Totally agree Jeff!!
It was the best time to be alive! We listened to everything and enjoyed it all. What a beautiful time in life.
Facts Jeff! I wonder what the world would be like if all of those things still didn't exist. Probably happy as hell, because we wouldn't know any better! I thought recording the top 10 count down by placing the microphone on my cassette recorder next to my clock radio speaker, was genius 😅.
Man I wish was there in the 70s
how many of ya walked into a bar in the 80s and heard this song playing....all the time. there were a lot of "disco" bars back then with dance floors in small town america.
Oh! The memories... I was smiling and grooving with you, guys. What a feel good song!
Same I was getting down on it 😅
just nothing like 70's tunes to make you feel pumped and good all over..... what a great decade for music.
mid 1980s when this came out.
The group ,that made anyone, from the young to the young at heart, get up and dance.

@@kathyyore309 Experience counts...no doubt !!
Great band, great dancing music.
I thought it was spelled Mislead? Oops 😖
Yeah this one filled the dance floor back in the day.
I saw this band live many times in the 1970's. I was in high-school back then. Loved it! Had a blast at the high-school dances playing this song
Awesome
One of my all-time favorite bands. Tight musicianship. JT was an awesome frontman, with his swag and incredible vocal range..
Kool & the Gang opened for Van Halen in 2012 in Dallas. Best concert ever!
Man this brings back memories. Y'all should do "brick house" bye the Commodores.
I thought the same thing right away.
Yes both of those songs remind me of dancing at the disco! 😂 Great music, great times.
Going to the Roller Rink.
This song is such a vibe. I have loved this song ever since the first time I heard it. I swear I should have been born in the 60s cuz 70s music is 🔥 I love 80s as well. I'm a 80s baby. But still 70s & 80s music is full of bangers.
You were born in the greatest decade of all time
80s is probably the most underrated decade of all time.
GREAT line dancing song! ...... Gets everyone involved... ... ... great tune!!
Kool & The Gang gave us some of the best roller skatin music🛼💗🛼
Wife here..Wore this record out!!..Kool and the Gang were so Cool...Amazing catalog of Great music!! Love Your Reactions!!..So well said you guys..YOU JUST HEAR THIS and LIGHT UP!! ..GETS YOU MOVING!!

The great dance music of the 70s and cool in the gang was one of those groups… Never gets old
Never fails. Every single person who has listened to this song must have started dancing. The song just does that.
This was one of my dance songs. I continue to listen and dance, even byself. Groove music, house cleaning music and picnic song. You have to move thru this song. 💥🫶

Watched a lot of your videos. I don't remember seeing one where Asia smiled throughout until now.

Great band! Misled is a banger for sure.
Great party song of '81. Hard to believe I was 24 when it was released.
Heavy bass line provided by Robert "Kool" Bell. Love it!
I saw them about 3 years ago and they were great! So much fun! Brought back so many memories ❤️
Also been great to sample for Hiphop; I’m hearing some classics.
Kool And the Gang makes you want to move you need to check out The Trammps Disco Inferno if you like great dance songs!
"LADIES NIGHT" IS THE SH!T...!!! (There's a video with Micheal Jackson jammin' in the front row)
One of my favorite to dance to at the club as well as just driving around with my girls. Love this ❤️ And yes it was played at BBQ’s too!!
Man I love their horn section but the funny thing is the drummer is just straight ahead yet all the other instruments for doing all the syncopation to give it that funk
Reunions? Hahaha! True, this is on and people start dancing.
this is on my party playlist and gets people on the floor…..awwwwww yeah!!!!
Funk is music perfection! Love your (beautiful) reactions!

A favorite of mine from that era is Stomp! by the Brothers Johnson
Always a jam... This was the ringtone on my phone for a long time.
Another lesser known song by them is "Open Sesame "

Heard that song for the first time on the party mile in Bangkok, Thailand ,early eighties, where dancing was going on everywhere.Great memories.
