I feel the same way as you, gives a depressing feeling. At least to me it does, part of it is cuz like you said, watching it a million times as a kid, him with the sunset and the song makes me miss the simpler times as a kid
I agree with you man, the cat in the hat has been a big part of my childhood and had personality and charm and was also politically incorrect, but modern films nowadays have lost their charm and personality which instead became politically correct. But yeah it's really sad that Kelly Preston passed away in 2020 due to breast cancer, she was an underrated actress and it is really sad to most of the cat in the hat fans. RIP Kelly Preston.
Honestly, I am one of those few people that do like this movie. I remember when I saw this in theaters when I was 4 years old. I mean, sure, there are some things that didn't need to happen in this movie, but I didn't think it was a bad movie. I have a soft spot for it. I actually wish the sequel "The Cat In The Hat Comes Back" wasn't cancelled. I would've liked to see this cast return. Then again, I guess it would've been a little creepy to see little cats A-Z with Mike Myers face on them. But I think it would've been funny too😂
Universal has a division called "Universal 1440 Entertainment", which specializes in direct-to-video/Peacock films, that can probably make "The Cat in the Hat Comes Back". Perhaps it can be made with actors that look like the original cast, and possibly have Myers return as the Cat.

Plus, the actress who played Joan Walden has sadly passed away recently and the sequel to that movie will be even more impossible. But I beg to differ. Illumination was supposed to be making the animated version of the Cat in the Hat. But the rights were taken away from them and now Warner Bros Animation have them to make the film. But I feel like I can’t trust them with it. Not after how they delivered with Scoob! and the new Tom and Jerry movie! I wish Illumination would do something to get the rights back.

We enjoyed life and living the moment way more back in the early 2000s, now we have to take pictures of our food and text while with family or in trips. In 2003 We watched way more TV, I was in 6th grade and school was more enjoyable, no school shootings. Great movies, politics weren’t controversial at all, cheaper prices, PC computer games were the coolest thing.

I was 6/7 years old when I first watched this in cinema, I’m 26 now, it was my first movie (that I can remember because I’ve been told my first movie was Jurassic park 3, I was 4 at the time and I can’t remember that at all lol), although the movie hasn’t aged entirely gracefully and it’s not spectacular or anything, it’s not that bad of a film, I can assure you, I’ve seen a lot worse. I mean, myers wasn’t forced to do this movie for nothing (which I don’t agree with btw), so a little credit wouldn’t go a miss I suppose.
I put the character on the train just for fun. Never going to happen. It got bad reviews, Dr. Seuss’s wife hated it, even Mike Myers hated it. Kelly Preston passed away and the kids have grown up! Although there is supposed to be an animated version made by Illumination aka The Minions.

I was 6/7 years old when I first watched this in cinema, I’m 26 now, it was my first movie (that I can remember because I’ve been told my first movie was Jurassic park 3, I was 4 at the time and I can’t remember that at all lol), although the movie hasn’t aged entirely gracefully and it’s not spectacular or anything, it’s not that bad of a film, I can assure you, I’ve seen a lot worse. I mean, myers wasn’t forced to do this movie for nothing (which I don’t agree with btw), so a little credit wouldn’t go a miss I suppose.

You know I have an idea for a possible sequel called The Cat in the Hat Comes Back...
Never going to happen. It got bad reviews, Dr. Seuss’s wife hated it, even Mike Myers hated it. Kelly Preston passed away and the kids have grown up!
Although there is supposed to be an animated version made by Illumination aka The Minions.
