    The scene with Gabi at the table is heart breaking, everyone in the house is looking at her with such sympathy and concern for what ever horrible things happened to her in the past to make her so skittish and trying to figure out how to help her. Yet all she can see because of her upbringing is that she's surrounded by devils that will rip her apart without mercy if given half a chance. A sad reflection of how irrational hate can be IRL

    I think Gabi is a representation of people who grow up being told “these people are bad, these people are good” then you aren’t taught anything else. She then grows up in a family that accepts this “truth” without question, planting an inferiority complex in Gabi, so obviously she does everything possible to not be associated with the “island devils”. But then everything she thought was true starts getting questioned. She starts maybe questioning herself and failing to give that girl an answer just shows how indoctrinated she was to believe that her race deserves to be punished. It’s like telling a very religious person that your religion isn’t as good as you think it is. It wouldn’t make sense to them but as soon as you start reflecting, you’ll be angry, not able to reason and act irrationally in some cases. I don’t hate Gabi but you can appreciate that she’s a well written character, representing a lot of people who refuse to listen to reason until later. I hope I made sense to anyone who’s going to read.

    Gabi never has seen her life as much more than a game; with a prize to win (honorary marleyan) and a clear-cut badguy (the paradis eldians). It's barely been a few days since she even started learning that maybe some of the eldians are decent, and it is only immediately after the paradis eldians, from her point of view, proved themselves to be exactly what she thought they were. Of course she's having trouble with it.
    Falco? He never saw any of this as a game. Especially since we know his uncle has already been sent to paradis (when Grisha was sent there, too). He already is open to the reality of it, rather than the game Gabi sees.

  • @worldsunknown4887
    @worldsunknown4887 7 дней назад +2

    Everyone be forgetting that Gabi is a product of her environment, it's not like Marley trained them since kids to be literal weapons or anything~~~
    Also Falco and Gabi (to me at least) represent the two common reactions people take to information that challenges their world view(s)
    People like Falco are always changing their worldview as new information arises.
    Where as people like Gabi need to often be confronted with their beliefs to understand they are wrong. People like that often either lack empathy or are devoted to a cause and the Imagination to believe it could be wrong.

    I realize it's a completely different situation, but the way Gabi beat the guard reminds me of how Eren stabbed the people who kidnapped Mikasa. Considering how Gabi is based on a genderswapped drawing of Eren I wouldn't be surprised if the two were supposed to be mirrors, I mean we know the difference in the scenes but considering her upbringing she probably doesn't.

Being outspoken like Falco is dangerous. So it's easy to like him because he is the mind of the viewer so to speak. Whereas Gabi represents your common Marlyean.

    10:20 she remembered this scene when Eren fought for her, so she remembered it's needed to fight against people you don't like.
    She already had a time in some of the earliest episodes, when she wanted to give up on life, she recalls this scene, and that made her want to fight for life.
    Apparently, she feels uncomfortable enough in current situation, so she recalls this scene again. She knows Eren is jailed. She sees this girl who is jailed for fighting. She also wants to fight for Eren. She knows she can't, or otherwise this kinda makes them outlaws. Her spirit apparently is sending her these feelings, but her brain tries to resist. TATAKAE! TATAKAE MIKASA!

    • @purpleemerald5299
      @purpleemerald5299 7 дней назад

      Actually, that’s Mikasa being reminded of just how eerily similar Louise’s blind obsession with her for saving her is to Mikasa’s blind obsession with Eren. She’s beginning to focus more on the cold, merciless side of Eren that she’s often ignored when lamenting on her rescue (hence why that scene frames Eren in such a sinister way).
      This is literally THE reason why she treats Louise with so much apathy later; she’s disgusted with her because she see’s her own worst traits in the girl.
      Remember, Louise dies of shrapnel she got hit with because she was too distracted by Mikasa; her infatuation fucking KILLED her.
      And as we learn in the finale, the headache Mikasa’s experiencing is because of…well, something else altogether…

    isn't it obvious what's wrong with gabi?

  • @jerrygreenest
    @jerrygreenest 7 дней назад +2

    21:00 don't worry, pretty much half of AOT community hates Gabi, that's completely okay to dislike her, understandable, no need to feel sorry. Now what I think:
    Falco - one of the best characters in AoT, probably. So understandable person, he tries to think from enemy's view. He tries to understand them.
    Gabi - seemingly they tried to make of her a reminiscence of Eren, and visually she is, but behaviorally they failed. She is a bit the inverse of Eren. Eren always tried to see friends in his obvious enemies. Gabi, the inverse - she always sees enemies even in obviously completely normal people. Eren resisted to fight Annie, he resisted to believe Reiner is enemy, or Bertoto. Gabi takes the brick to eliminate a helping guard who worries for health. Gabi takes the rake to eliminate a girl who tries to help her. They're literally opposite. Not similar.
    Reiner - I did love his character when he wanted to suicide, because I felt he finally understood everything, and I felt sorry for him, but now when in this episode he proposed to attack Paradis immediately, I am again hateful of his character, just like in season two or wherever he betrayed us. He also thinks: «How could Zeke be with us for so long and betray us», which also makes me think he NEVER EVER thought of himself from a side. That's not an attribute of a sentient person. Of course, he indeed was literally insane, as he had his split personality, but since then he changed a lot, he grown up, he doesn't seem split, and he understands the situation better. He seemed redeemable when failed to kill himself. Even after all these deaths he caused, he seemed redeemable at declaration of war episode. But now I no longer think he is redeemable. You're attacking Paradis the third time, seriously? And you again urge everyone to attack? I hate you, Reiner.
    To me personally, one of the most important facts about any character: if a character tries to find the good in his enemies, like Falco, like Eren, then it's always a good character for me. But if they don't even try to think through the facts they're getting, then I don't like those characters. It's okay to be reluctant to change your beliefs, but not to the point Gabi is reluctant to change her beliefs.

    • @purpleemerald5299

      1. Eren didn’t want to see Annie or Reiner as his enemies because *_they were his friends for three years and he was just in denial,_* NOT because he “saw good in them”. XD
      In fact, the moment he finally ACCEPTED that they were his enemies, he became just as mindlessly rage-filled as Gabi. Him being unable to believe that his own friends could be invaders is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT from him finding good in people he ALREADY VIEWS as his mortal enemies…which he can’t even do until season 4…by which point he’s already decided to kill them all anyways. XD
      2. Reiner wants to attack Paradis to save his cousin and prevent Eren from DESTROYING THE WORLD! That is literally the most noble his motivations have ever been. And guess what? Eren was ALREADY in the process of letting Zeke go on a rampage so he could betray him and DESTROY THE WORLD. So Reiner was absolutely right to be desperate to stop Eren. What did you want him to do? Leave Falco and Gabi to die and wait for Eren to commit genocide? Oh yeah, that’d be REALLY heroic of Reiner. XD
      Also, GALLIARD expressed disbelief for Zeke’s betrayal, not Reiner. It only cuts back to Reiner because he was listening to Galliard and clearly understood the irony of hearing that from him.
      Seriously, how can you misinterpret THIS much THIS consistently to the point of not even knowing who is saying what? XD

      ^ exactly. Original post doesn’t have a clue. Eren tries to see friends in his enemies??? Get the heck outta here.
      When he realized Reiner and Bert were the enemy, he said he was going to kill them in *worst way possible*
      He even said he was going to refuse to eat because he hated the garrison troops after wall Maria fell.
      It’s not until eren goes through traumatic experiences that he is FORCED to change his perspective

      To describe it better: Eren refused to eat piece of bread from a soldier hitting him. Gabi refused to eat a deliciously looking bowl of food from the kindest family in the world. Yes the eventual thing «refusing to eat» is the same, at which again - I see how the author desperately tries to show them as the same people only in different sides. Which is nothing alike at all, because their circumstances are vastly different. It’s okay to not want to eat from a person hitting you. It’s not okay to not want to eat from the kindest people on earth. Don’t you see the difference?

      @@jerrygreenest The two Garrison troops that hit him weren’t even the ones that gave him the bread, dude. XD He was refusing to eat just because they happened to be part of the same government that was _already_ handing out rations long before he even confronted them. Which, let’s be honest, is even more stubborn and spiteful than refusing to eat food _directly_ given to you by people you’ve been raised your whole life to perceive as cunning demons.
      Hell, Gabi didn’t even need to be punched and force-fed like Eren did; he was just THAT angry about there being ANY association between people he hated and fucking bread. XD

    When you are comparing Gabi and Falco you are forgetting one big difference. Falco had the situation with Eren And Rainer and Eren told him "over there is just like here, people are the same, there is some good ones and some bad ones" etc. That's why he gets it. Gabi is also a girl and we all know how tough is to reason with women lol

    7:00 you see how Hange became the people she replaced? I hate Hange to be honest. She was a great character. But now when she replaced Erwin, she is so hugely no match.
    Well «hate» might be a little too strong of a word, but still. I don't like her. Despite the plot depicting her as a good side, apparently.
    I only glad she seems to hate herself a little bit, too: 9:17 - but whatever she thinks doesn't change her actions so... Useless.

      @@trueblaze84 I know right, I was triggered when even wrote this sentence, because I see how author tries to show how there’s no good and bad. Both sides have their good and bad. Still, I believe Paradis deserves better than Marley. So despite how author tried, I still separate to good and bad. So any person fighting for Marley already bad people for me. Even though I might like some of them marleans. Since Hange is fighting for Paradis, she is still «good people» for me, but I already hate her decision making, and her appliance to status-quo, and how she doesn’t do anything about it rather than just being irritated a little bit. Hange was great character, but now she is only good because on our side. Overall, I dislike her.

    • @jerrygreenest
      @jerrygreenest 7 дней назад

      @@trueblaze84 that is probably implied by the show, but actually I don't see any reasoning for these characters to change this way. That's not reflected in the plot anyhow. That's partly a reason why S4 feels so off, much worse than previous seasons. S1-S3 were great. Now Paradis leaders probably scared to tell people the truth because they know Eren is right in his own way. They still jailed him. They know people will be angered by the fact he is jailed, so they chose to keep quiet in public. But why the heck did they jail him in the first place? BECAUSE HE MADE HIS OWN DECISION? The leaders at this point see Eren as their weapon. They see him as their property now. And they angered by the fact that their property makes his own decisions. That's not what property do. And they know people will hate them for being so self-centered and autocratic. But why they so self-centered and autocratic all of a sudden? They could better cooperate with Eren, don't jail him, and easily tell the people what happened. It all wasn't a problem at all to be this way. But they chose to play dumb autocratic self-centered assholes. It's almost like the plot had to be going on - and if all the characters would be adequate, understanding, and cooperative, then this will be one boring story. But the alternative isn't better: it's just bad story. That's probably why so many people, despite still rating AOT high in their list, are finding S4 and ending so controversial or plain worse.
      Btw, you said «have to do to survive in war», but in fact they do almost everything to ruin their survival. That's one of the reasons why the plot at S4 and further feels so off, illogical, bad.

    • @trueblaze84

      @@jerrygreenest So you're saying you don't like season 4 because you didn't under stand a single thing that was happening, got it. Let me try to clarify.
      They arrested Eren because he was an active member of the military who went AWAL and effectively declared war on the planet without even discussing the plan with his superiors and when they found him again he had effectively aligned himself with one of their nations greatest enemies, Zeke, who's claims to be on their side but refuses to give them a reason to believe them.
      They won't tell the people what is happening because Eren has developed a cult of personality around him and they're afraid that if people learn about his arrest there would be civil unrest and they were desperate to keep things under control because of the fact that Eren had declared war against the world and they needed to focus on preparing to defend themselves.
      People aren't being adequate, understanding, and cooperative because that's not how people are the show is being sadly too realistic with their reactions.
      Maybe instead of being mad at the show for understanding human nature and social responses you should take some time to understand how people react IRL to situations like this. Everything the characters do in this series is realistic to how people would respond in real life and that's the ultimate tragity of the show.
