    I sold my original Duo, bought a Fold 4, missed the Duo and just bought a Duo again as a second device. I absolutely love it. I think people seem to be coming back around to it now it's much cheaper. It is like no other device. Impossibly thin. A diamond that will sadly soon be lost to history.

    Yep, same here. Sold the Duo 2 as it couldn’t be my main phone and went back to the more elegant Duo 1. Utterly a companion device to my life but one which puts a smile on my face every time I open it. 😊

    I have had 2 surface duo 2's and 2 surface duos. When Msoft announced the end of the Duo line I bought a spare Surface duo 1 so I have an extra. Currently I use the duo 2 as my main phone. I think the original duo's screens look better than the duo 2...But they are the most fun and useful tech products I have ever owned. Could never use a norma phone again.

      Wow, you're clearly all in. I can respect that, I started off with the Duo one and then upgraded to the Duo 2. Once I heard Microsoft was going in that the direction I decide to sell the duo 2 and go back to the Dual one as a secondary device. There was no way I was going to go through a gen-one device with Microsoft again. Since everything seemed to be going single screen fold I decided to get the one that has four generations. I have to admit though, I still enjoy the surface Duo more than the fold 4.

    I bought my Duo about 6 months ago. I purchased it for 50 dollars. The fella I purchased it from sold it cheap saying only one of the screens worked. I got it. Saw it had Duo Mono installed on it (An app to make it function as a single screen device). Deleted that app and it's perfectly functional. The duo is a pretty great device. It's a shame it didn't catch on. Personally I wish they did a plastic backed, eink screen e-reader in the format. Would be the coolest device ever. I wasn't a big fan of the direction the Duo 2 went in. The camera bump making it not be able to fold together flat pretty much ruined the entire concept of the form factor to me.

    • @GOTgoodoldtech-1964

      Wow, that's an awesome deal you snagged by finding that app that fixed the issue with your Duo's second screen!" I totally agree that it's a bummer they didn't come out with the "Surface Duo lite" with a plastic back.

      How did someone accidentally download Duo mono? You would think they would try a factory reset or something when the second screen wouldn't work which would automatically delete duo mono

    • @GOTgoodoldtech-1964
      @GOTgoodoldtech-1964  Год назад +1

      Hey Michael! So initially there were rumors that the Surface Duo 3 would have one solid screen, but I'm actually going to cover that in my next video. Personally, I think if they were going to go that route, they would need to make the one solid screen function like two separate screens to really pique my interest.
      Anyway, since giving up my Surface Duo 2 and going back to the original, I feel like I made the right decision. But I don't want to give away too much of what I'm going to talk about in my next video.
      All that being said, I have to admit that I'm not feeling very hopeful about the Surface Duo 3. But hey, who knows, maybe Microsoft will surprise us all! Thanks for tuning in and for your great question Michael.

    Good evening Sir, please can you recommend it for artists?

    • @GOTgoodoldtech-1964
      @GOTgoodoldtech-1964  Год назад

      What a fantastic question! I'm a big fan of sketching and drawing on all sorts of devices myself. My personal go-to for digital drawing is my trusty Samsung Tablet.
      However, I do want to let you know that you can definitely sketch on the Surface Duo as well! When I use it for drawing, I like to fold it over and use just one screen. Trying to draw with both screens open can be a bit tricky because of the separation.
      To make the most of your Surface Duo for drawing, I recommend using an app called Sketchbook and pairing it with a 3rd party Surface pen. There are tons of different pens to choose from, or if you're feeling fancy, you can go for the more expensive Surface pen.
      Now, as an artist, I will say that the Surface Duo might not be the best option for larger or more complex works. But it's perfect for killing time when you're out and about, waiting in line, or just want to sketch on-the-go.
      Thank you so much for your question and for tuning into my channel. Your feedback and questions mean the world to me, so please don't hesitate to reach out in the future!

    I have a galaxy fold 4, but have wanted a surface duo original for years. Is there a convenient way to use it as a backup that enables my mobile data plan I already have for my galaxy fold 4? I don't want to play the switch the sim card every day game, and relying on wifi is not ideal. I haven't found any solutions to use both effectively, it's usually use one and leave the other at home.

    • @GOTgoodoldtech-1964
      @GOTgoodoldtech-1964  Год назад +1

      I totally get where you're coming from when it comes to wanting to use the Surface Duo without the hassle of switching SIMs or paying extra fees with your carrier. Personally, I've found a workaround that works for me - I use my Z Fold 4 as a hotspot and connect my Surface Duo to it using a private WIFI connection.
      Using the hotspot all day does drain the battery a bit faster, but I haven't had any issues with my Fold 4's battery dropping below 40%. And when I get home, I just turn off the hotspot and my Duo automatically connects to my home network. Plus, I've been able to use Google messages on my Surface Duo and it syncs up perfectly with the messages on my phone.
      Honestly, most days I don't even need to touch my Fold 4 except for making calls - and I don't really make calls at work, so it works out well for me. I might even try doing a "day in the life of the Duo without a SIM" video at some point!
      Anyway, I hope this was helpful for you. Thanks so much for tuning in, and if you enjoyed this video, please don't forget to give it a thumbs up and subscribe to my channel for more!

Interestingly, I hadn't come across the idea that the first two Surface Duos could have been test cases in preparation for the third generation. It actually makes a lot of sense for each product to build upon and improve from its predecessors. Although I must admit, being used as a test case does feel a little unusual, doesn't it? (laughs)
      Personally, I'm really hoping that they do release a 3rd Gen Surface Duo, and if they do, I'm crossing my fingers for a solid folding screen that functions as seamlessly as if the two screens were used together. That would be fantastic!

    • @GOTgoodoldtech-1964
      @GOTgoodoldtech-1964  Год назад

      That is an excellent inquiry. From its inception, the Duo has been beset with glitches, most of which have been resolved through two years of updates. Nevertheless, the Duo continues to experience occasional bothersome glitches. My assessment is that this is largely due to app developers' failure to develop programming that is compatible with Duo's two screen format. Microsoft should take proactive measures to integrate fixes into its operating system. Nonetheless, the device remains an elegant and dependable tool that performs admirably under most circumstances. Therefore, I recommend it as a supplementary device.
