    Hello Dr. Leo, what states allow the specialties, and what accept the certificates? Is it true that if you graduate as an specialist you just can work the specialty?

      You would have to look up online for the states. About the graduation, it is not clear, however, I know a few people who graduate with a specialty but received an unrestricted license. I think it depends on the state.

      Hi Dr. Harlee! If you want to be an orthodontist in the USA and work in Florida, there is only one way: international dental school OR AEGD (2 years) followed by orthodontic residency.

    Hi Dr. Keorich. I am Jamaican, however i studied dentistry in brazil. I just migrated to the USA in January 2024. I do not know where or how to start to validate my Brazilian dental license to start school or working as a dentist in NJ. Kindly if you or somebody else can point me in the right direction.       I can! I have a full course on this subject. You can learn all the steps needed I have done it myself and I have a ton of people that already got accepted!

    Great Video! What about the green card holders who chose to study abroad and go back to US? Are there any dental schools that the US Universities do not accept for Advanced Standing program?

      That is a great question and a possible option for some people. In fact, I have a few people in my own course that did it. There are several dental school in the US, however, not all of them accept students for the Advanced Standing program. Therefore, to go on the shorter route, you would have to apply to a school that has an AS program.

      You would have to go to Google and start looking for them. There are a ton of programs out there and you have to find the ones that are free.

    Hi Doc, Thanks for the video! If we apply for the Limited license in MA, they sponsor the working visa H1b? I heard it is difficult to find a clinic that sponsor the visa. I currently applied the IDP this year cycle but got rejected and I don't know what to do. Some said, I can try to apply dental faculty in MA, instead of limited license because if I apply for the faculty, they provide a visa whereas limited license does not.. Please let me know if there are other info that I do not know. Thank you!

      Faculty is always a good option. I cannot provide information about the places sponsoring Visas, as I don't know about this. I only heard about one person that had a visa sponsored, it was about 10 years ago and I don't have details. I would review your application to try to understand the reasons why there was no call for interviews. Best of luck!

    Thanks Dr. Leo for this super informative. Can you please make a video on oral radiology specialty. What are the prospects and potential downsides. It would be super helpful for many of us who are from oral radiology specialization from our home countries and wont be able to get into a clinical specialty. Thanks again

      Hi doc, the orthodontic career is fantastic! As like in any other profession, if you work hard, study a lot and become great in what you do, you will do really well. I expect things to get better for sure. I have a couple friends at the GSO program, and they love it!

    Can foreign dentist who trained in turkey, work in us?

      Your questions is very generic and is related to multiple things. First of, you need to have a work visa to be able to work here, regardless of what your profession is. Second, what kind of job are you looking for within dentistry? You may or may not. Third, are you talking about coming straight from Turkey and start working here without additional school? Hard to answer without knowing the details. You should probably watch the full video to obtain your answer

      You're welcome! You can technically work during your free hours, but chances are you are not going to make enough money to justify working the extra hours. However, I do know one person that does quite well working as an IT specialist while in school. Keep in mind this is extremely rare. Most of us take student loans to pay for the school and cost of living.

      The price is per year, and you cannot practice as a dentist while you are in school!

      No, if you graduated from a CODA accredited school, you would be able to apply for a dental license.
      Graduating from a non coda accredited school allows you to apply for an international dental program.

    Tenho 60 anos de idade, já estou aposentado pela Aeronáutica.Diante dos acontecimentos no país, quero me mudar para a Flórida, e para complementar a minha renda, pretendo fazer a aplicação para a 5 opção(DDS) que o senhor mostrou, de preferência em alguma universidade da Flórida. Tenho especializações em Periodontia (USP), Implantodontia (Odontoclínica Santos Dumont), Odontologia coletiva (UFRJ) e MBA em gestão em Saúde Pública (UFF). Tenho consciência de que nenhuma dessas especialidades servirão para a prática nos USA, só espero que sejam válidas posteriormente nas entrevistas , caso eu possa passar no INBDE. Gostaria de saber se o senhor disponibilizaria um contato pessoal, para que possamos trilhar esse desafio futuro?

      Hi Maryam, thank you for your comment. The great thing about the United States is the fact that there are so many nice states for you to live in. It is really a personal preference, but every single state you will find something nice, even Alaska! It comes down to personal preference. However, from a work standpoint, you have to plan according to the type of degree you plan to have.

While this is a good idea, for your specific situation may not be the BEST idea, if you know what I mean. Only with a consultation to understand many things about your life I would be able to provide you the best option for you.

      Doutor, infelizmente GPA não se aumenta, se lamental... Isso são suas notas da faculdades, e depois de terminat a faculdade já era. Você pode ter um mestrado com excelentes notas, como uma alternativa, mas a parte da graduação não se modifica.

Muito explicativo seu vídeo👏🏼 dúvida: após o AEGD na Flórida, o dentista internacional estaria apto a fazer todos os procedimentos odontológicos pertinentes a todas as especialidades, mesmo sem ter um título de especialista? Poderia também fazer procedimentos estéticos, como toxina botulínica, preenchimentos, bioestimuladores etc?

Até onde eu conheço, quando você revalida via AEGD ou DDS/DMD, você pode fazer qualquer procedimento odontológico, independente de ser especialista. Tenho um vídeo falando sobre isso, se não me engano o primeiro dos mitos e verdades. Quando a procedimentos estéticos, é fora da minha área de expertise.

    Olá Leonardo, meu nome é Caio tenho 17 anos vou entrar na faculdade de odonto e tenho uma pergunta msm sabendo que as coisas podem mudar até lá, o board tem validade de quanto tempo? Pois desde já tento planejar como vai ser minha trajetória até virar um dentista ai nos EUA, isso vai demorar um bom tempo ainda pois penso em terminar a faculdade, trabalhar e fazer bastante curso aqui durante 5 anos e ai dar entrada no visto de 5 anos de experiência e fazer uma validação por meio da residência, a pergunta é, se eu fizer o board assim que terminar minha faculdade, esse mesmo board vai servir pra 5 anos depois? queria fazer a residência no Texas também, é muito complicado esse estado para conseguir residência?

      Com esse planejamento o Board é a última coisa pra você se preocupar. Tem muita coisa pela frente que vai ser bem mais importante.

      Sim, mas até você fazer a faculdade, muita coisa pode ter mudado. Além disso, é um investimento muito alto para fazer sem ter a noção de quando vai aplicar. Muita gente do curso (acredito que a maioria) tem mais de 40 anos e já passou no Board.

      Hi Dr! Each state has their regulation, what I would recommend for the most up to date information is to go to the Nebraska State Board website and read their requirements there.

      It really depends on multiple factors, including where you would like to live and if the specialty course from the United States matter to you. I plan the best pathway to people through private consultation, but you can get a good estimate based on the video.
