I'm beyond happy for Leon Rocky Edwards!! Whenever they have their re-match I know he'll be on point. Wow.... literally balling my eyes out whenever he broke down about making his mom proud. Just freaking amazing!!!
Another “poetic justice” is that he won the belt with the cross-head kick. The exact same move that resulted in the eye poke/ NC in the Belal fight. And both resulted in him on the phone, crying to his mother.. Someone has to make a movie about this..
There needs to be movies made about Leon Edwards and Francis Ngannou. I'm from the UK and so many people know nothing about these guys and their epic stories.

The best thing about Leon is how true he's stayed to himself, how he's not had to fake a persona or chat crap to get where he is. He's a real one, can't say the same about Usman.
He should absolutely refuse to fight Corky Covington! CC always called him Leon Scott and idk who that guy is and i don't fight bums etc etc etc.. So now when Corky comes calling, Leon should just say i don't fight Bums with broken jaws who are 0-2 in real title fights!! Tell him if he wants a shot he needs to earn it by beating Khamzat lol... U call the shots now Leon!! Also negative on Masvidal as well, he said i will decide the time and place when i choose to break his face.. So hey Jorge guess what, Leon will decide the time and place if he chooses to fight you lol.. I'm very happy for Leon but i do think it will be a very short lived title reign unfortunately 🤷🏻♂️ I think Usman will most likely beat him in the rematch and i also think Khamzat would beat him unfortunately.. (That wrestling is going to get him 9 out of 10 times I'm afraid).... But with that being said, I really hope Leon beats all of them and keeps the title for a good bit!! Edwards removed from the rankings last year and not getting a title shot due to politics, but being neglected along with his coach Dave giving him a little slap and not pity, all made him get the job done. Usman didn't react to his faints and never switched to southpaw, meanwhile Edwards attacked the lower body in an ortodox stance and the upper body in a southpaw stance. Speaks about his hidden skills... The rear naked choke is overused, Edwards should have gone for a reversed triangle when he controlled Usman for two minutes on the ground or been more creative. Anyway, think Edwards wins the trilogy...
@@hazelbell6984 You're right about that, and most submissions are done with the rear naked choke but that also means that everyone is training to defend it much more, so at the most elite level, it won't work against wrestlers, especially anyone in P4P top 5... Therefore, against a P4P number 1; the bicep slicer, kimura, americana, or an kimura armbar would have been more effective after a reversed triangle choke, and Edwards could have switched back to top control easier...
@@DjediVibrations You're absolutely right about that. Bruce Lee loved that kick as well. The best thing about Cro Cop was that he could do it in all directions with wrong posture and balance. Edwards does a lot of feints and baits to setup the high kicks but more by placing his feet the correct way. Unlike Cro Cop, Edwards loses balance when moving backwards. But his sidekick and push kick in the opposite stance is also very effective. The funny thing was that Usman never reacted to his lower body faints and baits. Surprised that Wittman never told him to switch to a southpaw stance. Anyway, the lesson is that don't give Edwards enough distance and instead your elbows during the kicks or move clockwise, lol.
I've been on the wagon and am SOOOOOO happy for Leon. This dude is real and talented. No one will ever find a tweet from me about Leon that is negative. Love that he is getting this moment. That by the way, will live forever!

He is a hero in the US too. I shared your emotions when he won as well
Such raw emotion from Leon. You can see how much all of this means to him. All that hard work and sacrifice is coming out.

As a guy that grew up with a single mother, watching his emotions I really can relate. Really touching, great stuff. Happy for the man.
The problem when u grow up with single mother , especially if your mother was correct, you start over respecting, thinking most of them are like your mom... But reality shows that most doesn't have the merit...
@@abdu8531I disagree with that. I've never thought another woman was anything like my mom. She taught me how to be independent and get through the hard stuff.

The belt doesn't change all fighters, there's former & current champs like Khabib, Max , Volk, Rose, Moreno, Oliveira, Ngannu etc, they're know who they are, and Leon got a similar attitude, like said the belt belongs to no one
@@NovaBlade926 Take Rose off the list. One of the most entitled champs ever, her excuses and behaviour after her last fight were awful.
The reason he wasnt champ until now is partly because ufc likes movie stars as champions. Leon got blanked until they couldnt blank him anymore.... as soon as they gave him his shot, he took the belt home. EPIC

To finally see this guy get the love he deserves. Incredible, you earned it Leon. You deserve everything you’ve worked for.

Got to love how real Leon is
Edwards removed from the rankings last year and not getting a title shot due to politics, but being neglected along with his coach Dave giving him a little slap and not pity, all made him get the job done.
Yep 👍🏻 I think he gets the next one and looks better than he did!
The rear naked choke is the only submission that is ever successfully used in high level mma anymore
It was a classic Muay Thai trap used by Cro Cop for years anyone who's followed the sport saw the setup start w the very first leg kick thrown
